    What a lovely couple! I'm from a Sino-Japanese family. My grandmother was Japanese and grandfather was Malaysian Chinese. In my generation, my brother and sister married Japanese and they and their families settled in Japan now. In our family, we often mix Japanese, Mandarin and English together when speaking. When celebrating festivals, we also mix Japanese, Chinese and Malaysian cultures in how we celebrate and in our foods. For example, I still remember my grandmother giving out red origami cranes to us as CNY red packets (you unfold the origami to get to the $$ inside). It was fun and different and my friends who visited our home during CNY back then always enjoyed getting those "crane red packets" as well as the variety of foods served in our home. Growing up, we naturally speak 3 languages at home and later 1 more (Malay) when we started school. Mix marriages and children growing up in a family of mixed marriages are blessed. All the best to you guys!

    Great video. A suggestion: It's always a good idea for 'white' subtitles to have drop shadow. This will help greatly to make your subtitle legible and easier to read.

    • @MalayPanTV
      @MalayPanTV  Месяц назад +52

      I love the choice of font type and font size. The white color is nice, just add the shadow or darker color font background box.
      Great editing!

    • @iaam8141
      @iaam8141 Месяц назад +4

      @@MalayPanTV A sans serif font like Helvetica Medium is the best choice for subtitles. (Highway sign boards use it for the simple reason that it is highly legible and can be read within seconds as vehicles zoom pass them.)
      A dark grey drop shadow or outline around the font for videos will prevent the subtitles from merging into the changing, lighter background colors, ensuring 100% readability.
      You guys make great content and are quite creative with your productions. Keep up your high quality (award-winning) work. Am confident MalayPan TV will achieve its first million subscribers pretty soon.

    I think the cool thing about an international relationship is, that you can learn each others culture and if you are willing, you can also learn the language of your partner. Which I personally think is very important cause this shows how seriously you are with your partner and the relatonship. In the end it also helps in terms of communication. Besides that learning a new language can also be a job boost for you.

    Nice video...
    LDR is tough but doable
    Language & culture can be the difficult aspect because of the nuances...
    In Malaysia you can have 5+ languages being spoken around a table, and people will switch instantly, as a group or between individuals. Is unusal for a US or Japanese person to experiece such. Once in Japan I was at a restaurant meeting with a group of friends, and I was the only English US speaker. For some strange reason on that day everyone conversed in English...I had thought nothing of it...
    When we left the staff asked us who we were, why are all Japanese speaking English? Had never seen it before, plus it was a very select & high end biz location.
    It is how one learns quickly and makes friends!

    Was it hard for Arisa to move over to Japan? What considerations did you have at the time?
    I am from Singapore and I have been seeing a Japanese girl but I am worried that she might not be able to ever move to Singapore as our immigration / employment pass policies seem strict and i worry it will be very hard for her to find a job since she is not as fluent in English as Arisa (we converse in mandarin)

    LDR is actually a good test. Proximity is a big advantage. If both sides can overcome this disadvantage then this shows likely you guys are a good match

    • @MalayPanTV
      @MalayPanTV  Месяц назад

      Yes!! I think it really trains your mind and heart also. Often times couple overthink things and they end up start unnecessary fights. But when you are doing LDR you really need to learn how to just let go and trsyr each other.

    Interesting wedding Culture.. In my Malay Malaysian Wedding Culture, usually our wedding is really big, 1000++ invited people, 2 ceremony & we had 2 wedding for both Girl & Boy side..

    Love the video! Just a question for joshua, does he hace any advice on how to learn japanese/what was his methods of learning the language? Im planning on going to japan to work at some point, but am struggling to learn japanese 😅

      @MalayPanTV  Месяц назад +2

      Hello! Joshua here 👋
      Actually, I took about a year of basic Japanese but honestly it didn't really help me much. I started picking up Japanese when I was with Arisa. The quickest way to learn is definitely to practice speaking, it's good to maybe find a Japanese community or friends. I'm sure you will pick up very fast when you are in Japan! Don't worry too much 😂

      Yes! Our favorite so far is Sushi Suzuki in TRX. They focus more on freshness rather than those fancy display food and if you go during lunch, they have affordable lunch set there 😉

    Thank you so much for this video! It's kinda helping for me. I'm currently dating japanese person and its kinda similar story like yours, we are both out of out countries and this helps me really a lot to understand what I should do and take in consideration to take this to the next level! Thank you so much!

      I'm so glad to see this comment! So happy to hear that this video is helping someone out there. Yes, LDR is not easy especially when you are also dating a different ethnicity. There's so many things you need to take into consideration and the distance is not helping. Most importantly, just learn to not overthink and trust each other. You'll be fine

    I have to say.. Arisa’s Japanese is as good as a native speaker…Very impressive..Also about age difference,,I am 43 and my gf who I dated for 2 years was the same age as I was and she was japanese,, and my current gf is also japanese and she was born in 1994.. we just started dating 2 days ago !! 😄😄😄😇😇😇😇 … anyway personally don’t care about the age difference as long as there is mutual love in the relationship

      @@MalayPanTV he's the kindest person I think. I have lots of Malaysian friends too. And ya, they're too kind for me even though there's also a lot of bad news between Malaysia and Indonesia, such as claiming Indonesian foods like rendang, etc. But after I asked many of my friends, they understood that it was Indonesian.
      I hope that I can find someone like Joshua in the future. I'm not married yet.

      Stop trolling. Do you mistaken a Korean guy for a Malay? what kind of question is that. The genes of Chinese, Korean, Japanese are most similiar and have lighter skin. You should compare Malays, Indonesians, Filipinos.
