I think the biggest difference is that Korean don’t introduce their gf/bf to their parents unless they’re gonna marry that person. Malaysian tend to share everything with their family so Malaysian parents would probably know their kids ‘dating history’. As a Malaysian, I think it is safer for parents to know in case of any weird/troubling things might happen. And some people do see the person that they’re dating as the person they’re gonna marry, hence their parents would know.
I just came from Zula (Singaporean channel) age gap difference video and they too see the importance of informing their parents.

The dating culture is very different, prone to misunderstandings, korean dating culture probably would be described as obsessive or clingy in malaysia. Both sides need to be considerate for both cultures..
