I imagine the first verse being sung the pre-existence
Second verse His mortal ministry
Third verse for those of us that await His return.
Fourth verse His triumphant return.
This song helps life come into perspective and find the peace only He can provide.
There aren't too many things more beautiful than hymns praising our Lord!
The hymnals are indeed a fabulous music resource.
This is what heaven sounds like to me. I always feel the Spirit when I listen to this song of praise the MOST.

Found the words to this hymn on line - so i sang along with the choir. I sing as a good as a crow (not to brag) but the spirit of my day changed after i sang this with the choir

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (May 31), I played this for Sunday School Assembly. I did so because our Sunday School Lesson came from 1 Corinthians 13.

We're singing this in church tomorrow morning. The arrangement is absolutely stirring, and we have the singers to pull it off. I have to say that this recording just gave me chills that took a while to calm down. The organist didn't hold anything back, but the choir had no problem soaring out over the top of the accompaniment .
It's beautiful!! Having both sung in a choir and been the organist, it brings back many wonderful memories.
I pray for our Christians, our citizens, and our country to find our firm foundation once again--it is time! Our dear God has been waiting ever so patiently!!

This hymn is overwhelming. It leads your emotions so gently through the 1st and 2nd, then powerfully through the 3rd verse. Just when you think your soul can't take the beauty any longer, that 4th verse comes in on the Mack Wilberg key change and you feel like falling to your knees and pleading for the 2nd Coming to come This Day. "Lost in wonder, love, and praise!!" Mack Wilberg has changed my life. Time to renew the hymn book so we can sing these words to Hyphrodol.
+Spence Redford I have a very difficult time listening to this song without tears coming to my eyes. They start in the second verse when the women sing, "Take away my love of sinning." Such powerful lyrics, and Mack Wilberg's arrangement brings goosebumps every time. This is easily in my top 10 songs the choir performs, and is arguably number one on most days.

While Dr. Wilberg is a great composer and director - you also need to give credit the actual composer and writer of this hymn. As well as many others the Mormons have taken from the Anglican tradition.

So, so Beautiful. My favourite Choir
Im going to be singing this with the utah all state choir this year in this exact building! Im so incredibly excited to sing this especially. The entire song is wonderful, and is now added to the very small list of songs that have actually made me cry. The last verse leading into the "amen" made me tear up so much and get a knot in my throat. Im not particularly religious at all, but that doesnt take away from the fact that this piece is amazing. Bravo!

My heart is full!! This is hands down my favorite hymn! The words are so powerful. It takes me on a journey through the atonement. This rendition has gotten me through the darkest of times. This has been my constant prayer to our Father, to help me to live and love as our Savior has.

Mormon Tabernacle does an outstanding and beautiful job of singing reverent music. They harmonize and blend voices beautifully. They understand the term "Ministry of Music"!

As always, the diction of the MTC is beyond reproach. I don't know how they do it, but the clarity is quite extraordinary and probably the finest I have heard from such a large ensemble. Absolutely beautiful!
wurlitzer895 Sit in on a rehearsal and you will get an experience that you will never forget - then you will know how they do all the technical aspects.
It has a TON to do with the building. It literally has perfect acoustics. I've never been but the saying is you can hear a pin drop from one side to the other.
@@CFLsurfr I apologize for the very late reply. They are performing this piece in the cavernous Conference Center, which seats over 20,000. The building with perfect acoustics is the pioneer-era Tabernacle where, indeed, you can sit in the back of the hall and hear a pin hit the floor on the stage. When the choir sings in that building, the sound is other-wordly. Hope you can make it some day.
This is better than dark creepy orthodox music. Ask yourselves, is it fear you want? Or is it love? God loves us. He doesn't want us to live in fear. It is true that we must fear His wrath but He does not want us to live in constant fear for we are His children. This is what I would say true Christian music.

Yup. That bass at 5:29 made me search specs for this organ, and indeed it appears that this is one of the relatively few organs on this planet that have 64' pipes in the bass, in addition to a healthy array of 32's. It really sets a bottom line that cannot be argued with.
HYFRYDOL. My favorite hymn tune.
It's a great tune. But I prefer "Love Divine" by John Stainer. I would love to hear what the MTC could create with a decent arrangement of this tune.

I learned this hymn as a child with a very different melody at a much faster temperature, that conveyed a dynamic confidence. Despite the same words, this version evokes a very different mood and is essentially a totally different song.
