  • Are you a shuttle lapper or bike park ripper? You’ll be stoked about the new Santa Cruz Nomad 6 Mountain Bike. This refined ride gets a new mixed wheelset design that noticeably boosts playfulness and tracking over tech and in the berms. A downtube Glovebox now rests beneath the bottle mount for onboard storage of tools, snacks, or whatever your ride needs. The geo has been slacked out just a bit to accommodate more aggressive lines, and the chainstays are longer and frame-size specific to make sure the Nomad gets to reap the rewards of its mixed wheel setup.
What did we think about it on the trails above Park City, Utah? It’s a ripper, and makes enough gains over the previous gen that you will not be disappointed. It climbs well enough that if you’re putting in a couple thousand feet of vert, it won’t crush you, and keeps the deep 170mm of front and rear travel we love about the Nomad, trail after trail.

I don't know. I climb like crazy on my V5 Nomad because that's the bike I want to be riding when it's time for the downhill. I don't die. Honestly, I really don't notice much of a difference compared to my trail bike which must weigh 6-7 lbs. less than my Nomad. Climbs are climbs. They're brutal and exhausting no matter what bike you're riding; the downhill however...very different story!

Yup, I say as long as you got the lungs and legs, any bike climbs just fine. The personal touches and preferences where comfort and seating position are concerned, are another matter for some.

I agree. While climbs are basically a part of all my rides I’ll sacrifice climb efficiency for downhill thrill.

I say as long as your not on a group ride with animals who climb like machines your just fine

I bought the V5 c xt coil 2021 version, and i was able to clear 13m jumps and big difficult road gaps after 3 months of riding.
    And i was a beginner!
It‘s incredible how much comfort this bike gives me 💕🤘
I‘m much in love with SC

What makes the megatower a better climber? Just from reading the numbers I dont really get why you would say the Mega is a much better climber. I dont find a mullet setup makes much difference, so whys it better/more efficient?

Awesome review! More please. Quick question....on a new V4 Bronson from a full 29er. Love everything about it but am finding myself oversteering in corners a bit. In general do you feel like the MX bikes may require a bit more of an "off the back" style vs a 29er as you mention in the video? Again great content....sussinct and informative!

Generally yes. They try to account for that by adjusting the seat tube angle a bit so you can get some weight and control over the front end for pedaling and climbing. This machine is made for descending though, so we don't want them adjust the geo so much you can't get your weight over the rear end for maximum downhill fun!!!

This year I did several climbs over 1.500 altimeter on my V5. When you say the V6 climbs better, say hello to 2.000.

@Chris Latimer hmm I used my N5 for my everywhere bike, hopefully the N6 climbs just as well because I just got one as my everyday/everywhere bike. Not racing and not a strava PR guy so wanted to keep it fun with just a more confident front end.

Yes, everything is very nice, but then there is no way to get this bike, let alone the frame that cannot be bought. Santa Cruz has presented a model that does not exist.🤯🤯🤯🤪
