My motto for this year has been to just keep trying. Progress is progress. Things can move so slowly but then all at once it takes off, so just keep trying. My biggest piece of advice as a 29 year old who has been working office jobs for 6 years is to practice interviewing. Even if you don't know if you want the job, getting comfortable in an interview is a huge step to making sure that when you are applying for a job you really want, you know you'll nail the interview. It'll also help you chat with videography clients. I used to be extremely nervous during interviews and at new jobs but the more and more you do it, the more comfortable and confident you'll be.
I should also just say I'm loving the series, keep at it!
Thanks so much that's great advice. Okay from now on, if I get a job interview I'll go no matter what. I think football has been good for my confidence too as it forces me to communicate without any pressure. For me it's always that first step and then once it's done, the anxiety seems to go. Really appreciate the support :)
@@HarleyButler-ox3qn Get out of here. Islam isn´t meant for Westerners.
this is territory i know all too well apart from being a student which i plan to be this year
just graduated recently, going through exactly the same thing so you're not alone at all. keep it up bro
It's nice to hear that it's not just me. Hope all goes well for you bro
Mr Tom, you're an inspiration to me, a real man. Keep going strong !
I appreciate that!
I knew Tom before he was famous. Keep killing this series brother, cannot wait for ep 3!
Hahaha thank you Scott, just trying to reach your level 🤣
£155pd is good going! £465 a week for 3 days, you could have a days rest and then the other half for making videos. It also shows commitment to future employers, even in other fields
I was in your position exactly 5 years ago ... Waking up the day after my last day at Uni suddenly unemployed and chasing life with no preparation is a crash course at life that you'll look back on and laugh at, one big piece of advise and you've touched on it in your video - DON'T prioritise money at this stage, i've tried a ton of unsuccessful ventures until one came off compared to my friends who done amazon/Uber and some of them are still doing that now 5 years on ... i know that won't be you as you seem to have well thought out plans for the future but just keep going and you'll eventually succeed!
Thank you so much. It's super reassuring to hear that someone older thinks that. The expectation of me and other graduates is that you should just get a job and move up the 'corporate' ladder. But the message of pursing what you enjoy, your ambitions and giving it all your best shot Is encouraging and appreciated. There is hope! :) Glad to hear your venture became successful too
I'm a bit older than you and the bad news is you'll never figure it out. Everyone is living this life for the first time.
I'm going to figure it out lol
I hope you will succeed, I know right now that you are motivated, but after the motivation, it will become much harder to be disciplined. If you can push through that stage, then you will have habits that will set you up for life. great episode btw subscribed
Thank you so much :) You're right, discipline is key. I won't stop
Hi Tom, RUclips's algorithm proposed me your video. Your videos have a really relaxing vibe that I like. Show people that you're passionate about making videos and I know that there's someone that you can start with. Do whatever you can to pursue your passion in your 20s. This is what i would do if i was 20 again. Good luck!
Thank you for the advice dude, it's reassuring hearing that. I need to put everything into it. Thank you :)
I graduated 2 years ago and can’t find a job no matter how much I try. Unfortunately in the UK they don’t care about education anymore only about experience. Life is unfair here. Thinking of leaving the UK.
What did you study?
@@bigbadlara5304 I studied Egyptology and Ancient History then Historic Conservation for masters and I also have a diploma in marketing. There are many job opportunities within my degree but they don’t hire people without experience. Entry level jobs start at min 1 year experience but they say I am too old for internships. All the work experiences I had so far were in another country which they don’t accept in the UK for some reason. If I could learn the Austrian system in 2 weeks why couldn’t I learn the British one? Hard times.
Sorry you feel that way, I am finding the job market is brutal. I hope it gets better for you or you move somewhere you prefer
Nobody cares about higher education anymore because it is worthless.
You're so motivating, thanks for this!
That's great to hear, I'm glad you like it!
Not a bad starting salary at the factory but 12 hours shift means you'll have no time/energy to work on anything to break out of it. I'd also gladly take less money to be less miserable.
Completely agree. 12 hour shift for 155 is good, but if you don't enjoy it, you're simply trading your time for money. Which is fine, but not good for mental health tbh
hi man. saw this video in my recommendations, and clicked out of curiosity. You and my older sibling are in the same position (straight out of university), and he seems to not know what to do next. I often worry about what will happen when i get to your age, and what I will have to do post-uni. Hopefully, this series will clear a few of the finer details up for my brother and I. I will be following your journey closely my friend. All the best 🙏
Ah I see, I'll do my best to help. I guess I see it as writing your own story. I can't see what's ahead, but I know what I'd like to see, and so I think if I keep taking actions towards it, I'll find opportunities and eventually get there. It's scary but it's also incredibly exciting to be free and have infinite options. You could be anywhere. Good or bad and it's completely up to you what happens. You just have to figure it out yourself. If you have a goal, thats the starting point.
I worked in a call centre for 18 months after uni and it was OK for a while but become so repetitive I think I suffered from actual cabin fever. There were days of pure boredom. I know it changed my brain because I couldn't remember certain basic words. It was about a year or two after leaving that I got my brain back. I've since read that your brain does physically adjust to how you use it. My advice for you is simple: in your twenties, you have room for experiment, for changing jobs, for not settling. So try different things, don't let the grass grow under your feet. As someone who built teams, I've seen a lot of CVs and performed many interviews: my advice there is, if you do a specific job role or project, do it for at least a year. Try not to go from job to job every few months. Show at least a year of commitment. I'm not saying you are not doing this: I don't know you that well. This will anyway look much better on your CV. If RUclips is what you want to do, do that as a side hustle while you build experience with a company. Keep looking out for opportunities in business and if something more creative pops up, go for it. Working for a small start-up will provide you with huge amounts of experience: of what to do and what not to do. Being an employee and running a RUclips channel are not totally different things: the skills you learn in the workplace can carry over to running a channel because many skills really are transferable. My top tip for winning in interviews: ask questions of the interviewer, about the company, the role, how they deal with certain tasks or projects. So few candidates ask questions in interviews that you will stand out if you ask genuine questions. They want to see you have the curiosity to get on.
Wow thanks for all the advice, much appreciated! I'll take it onboard :)
This series is brilliant, keep it up!
Wow that is so kind! Thank you so much!!
@@TomInTheSky2001 You're welcome! Excited to see your continued progress
learn welding bro, uni is just a waste of time and there is no guarantees that you will get a job in the area that you wanted straight away.
with a simple welding course you could get a job fast, is not the easiest job in the planet nor the most comfortable and clean but at least you can make a good money eventually (maybe in a few months or a year).
Totally depends on what you study and how much you care about that field. CS degree is pretty safe and if you enjoy coding why not
sup brother, I amin the same boat as you are today is my first day out of collage! and honestly it feels like I have a mountain of pressure on me, tho I thank god that I landed an internship at a local agency but I've discovered having a desk job is tiering as hell. I recommend watching a vid I don't remember the name but it was about a neuron surgeon that quit his job, anyways good luck brother
I know what video you're on about haha. Sounds like you're doing well man, good luck on your journey :)
Great content, looking forward to following your journey. Good luck!
Thanks so much!
God and I’m only starting in September after taking a year off 😭 really refreshing and motivating seeing people with the same procrastination as I have and with similar goals etc, you seem to have a great attitude towards it so good luck and keep going!
Thank you bro! I hope all goes well on your journey :)
I usually don't leave comments on youtube, and somehow I ended up watching this video. I'm on the same page. I don't know how to figure out my life either, and your video encourages me to give it a try. I know it requires a lot of courage. What you are doing inspires people and gives relief. You are doing the right thing. Keep going Tom!! Love from Korea 🫡
This comment made me smile massively in the gym haha. Feels amazing to reach someone so far from me and it relate. Thank you for the kind words! Good luck on your journey! Also I'd love to visit Korea someday :)
i can see myself being in the exact same position as you once i finish university. inspired by your attitude, thanks for keeping it real! goodluck to us :)
That's so awesome, thanks for telling me. We've got this!
WOW LOVE THIS
Thank you man! More to come :)

@@TomInTheSky2001 get on a graduate scheme then. There are lots of big civil projects happening currently. Unfortunately for you, you are white and male, so you'll have to be exceptional, but the longer you don't work within your discipline, the harder it will be to get into it.
Another sick episode mate, well in!
Thank you man 😊
@@TomInTheSky2001 Congrats on 1k! It's working bro
Thanks man I hope it continues! I'll keep working hard
