EP.9 - This Could Change Everything! - Navigating Life
Просмотров 1 тыс.День назад
Navigating my Life after University EP.9 I used the Stardew Valley Soundtrack for this video, I've wanted to play it a lot recently, but have resisted. The emphasis of seasons reminds me of Autumn and I felt it was the perfect vibe. Concerned Ape is also my most played artist on Spotify currently, very different to my usual lol. Along with Le Festin from Ratatouille. What a film that is! 🌟 Link...

EP.7 - It Shouldn't be this Hard - Navigating my life
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.28 дней назад
This episode was pretty long so I split it into 2. Episode 7 is more about work and things going wrong etc. Realising I'm not sure what to do. Episode 8 is about bouncing back, confronting how my head is full, and working to build a new plan. I'm experimenting with series titles, I could potentially reach more people if I'm not calling it 'life after university'. I do prefer how it was, so I wi...

The Journey of Flora. This Video means a lot to me. I wanted to capture Lottie and Floras relationship and how it evolves overtime, and I think I did it. I'm so happy to have made a video about them, I've wanted to do one on Lottie for so long. My family will now always have this video :) I hope it brings you a smile. I've been wanting more so bad as of late. I've been comparing myself to others a lot, but how can I not? So much to gain. Currently as of writing im a bit ill. Which is incredibly frustrating and I feel like all im doing is complaining. But looking into the future, it's so bright. So fucking bright. So many dreams and aspirations, just to live alone with my partner would be a dream. This is the...

how it feels to be 23

23 This was inspired by a mix of journal entries about turning 23 years old. I listened to that song 'Eastside' today by benny blanco, where Halsey says 'suddenly we turned 23 and now we have pressure to take life more seriously, we got our dead end jobs, still got bills to pay'. Idk man it just hit, it made me emotional. My youthful innocence is leaving and what's left is reality. And it's har...

8 simple ideas that will improve your life (today)
I saw your video on Reddit and just had to watch. I can’t even explain how validating it feels hearing someone else echo what I’ve been saying (minus the air vomit I’m emetephobic so I won’t be doing that 😂) for years and years. I knew I wasn’t alone cause the Reddit group but it’s 10x better seeing someone talk about it and even the visuals of the laying down cause boyyyyyy have I been laying down a lot!! Ive been documenting my rcpd journey for almost 3 years now here and there on my channel (not to self promote just context) and i am so thrilled to see another content creator bring this to light. Im on my 4th botox now (other 3 didnt work so well - i just needed a higher dose it turns out) and the relief a burp brings is insane!!!! Natural burpers truly have no idea how lucky they are!! Anyway wishing you all the best 😄
Came over here from reddit. I only discovered rcpd in the past year but had symptoms forever and it definitely gets worse with age. Booked in for treatment in London next month and so excited!
Thanks man for sharing your experience. You're not alone, I've suffered with R-CPD basically my whole life, and it sucks. Videos and stories like yours help spreading knowledge about this conditions, and it's thanks to guys like you that many people discover they are not alone! Are you considering botow injection? Mine is scheduled for March, fingers crossed.
Thank you I really appreciate that 😊 I'll hopefully get an appointment after I've moved out and have a bit more cash, that's awesome you've got it booked in, I hope it works out 😊
I actually have the opposite diagnosis, I have supergastricbelching where I can’t drink fizzy drinks cause I burp excessively
Oh wow, I'm always jealous of people when they burp 🤣 I hope it's all okay
I have R-CPD too! Have you tried to air vomit? The relief is unbelievable! Just stick your fingers or a toothbrush at the back of your throat until you feel the gag reflex. Keep insisting until you air vomit. The relief is amazing! The sound is hilarious! 😂 If you go out you can do it in the toilet just make sure no one is nearby lol. There is treatment for it, Botox in the throat muscle. There is a doctor in London who does it, but the waiting list is long! You are not alone 😊
Its crazy to hear from people who have the same thing haha! No I've never tried it, I have a fear of being sick lol but I've heard good things about that. Next time it gets bad I'll give it a go tho. And yes I will get on the waiting list once I have more money! Thanks for letting me know. Have you had it done?
@@TomInTheSky2001 Hey! I have you issue and air vomiting does really help, the only problem is that you have to stick a finger down your throat and when you burp it's fucking loud, it's not like a normal burp but if you have the privacy its awesome, I do it all the time when I'm somewhere I can do it. You have to learn how to do it, you have to feel learn to feel when the burp is coming and you have to stick the finger, it's not difficult to do it, you can even push the air up with your stomach when you stick your finger, you have to try it until you learn, it's difficult to explain.
When I was 16 I got rheumatism. When I tell people about it, it's always the same thing: Everyone always thinks that this disease only affects older people.Luckily I have it somewhat under control with healthy eating and exercise, but people's ignorance is extremely annoying....I know that feel, brother 🤕
Thanks for sharing that man. It helps to hear others have experienced the same thing 💙
also just noticed you mentioned the dinosaur noises, they are my creaking door sounds. for me if I let all the gurgles come out it reduces the pressure, but if that fails, fingers down the throat in the toilet
Interesting, they seem to be the onset for me 🤷
if it's really really uncomfortable don't be afraid to get a couple of fingers down the throat in the bathroom, trust me - it might feel like you'll vomit, but what happens is a dry gag, huge echoey bark like gag that gets a lot of the air out. there's a chance you could be sick, but normally this helps me. people might think you've been sick because it will sound like it, but no vomit should come out. all the best
Thanks for the tip. I've heard of this but never actually tried it, I've always had a fear of being sick, next time it gets bad I'll attempt it
I am doing this like everyday at school sometimes i puke.. really tired of this shit thing 😢
6:40 bread is not good for dogs + make sure you brush his teeth after
this was over 100 days ago. She's fine haha
I used to have no burp too! I'm sure you've probably discovered the reddit page with thousands of members - but I had botox in my throat back in March and it's solved the problem. It wasn't cheap but is definitely the best money I've ever spent - would highly recommend!
Wow yes I'm a part of the subreddit, and that's so awesome to hear that you're cured! Gives me hope. Where did you get it done and how much was it? It's a shame it's not covered by the NHS
@@TomInTheSky2001 I had it done in Chelsea (very posh!) with Dr Lucy Hicklin - I think it cost around £650 but then I had to have it done a second time because the dose wasn’t strong enough so it was another £200 on top, she didn’t charge for her time the second time just for the Botox and needle. I’d email and get on the waiting list even if you can’t afford it yet, I had to wait a few months for an appointment. Was all worth it though!
I also can’t burp, I feel the same feelings as you do haha. Totally feel you on the social side too, especially when drinking a few pints. Sometimes I make huge gagging sounds to get the air out. If it’s chilled at work and I’m typing away I’ll just sit there creaking air out. I have found a way to try and relax my throat and chest to get more creaks out which helps but I have often thought about going to the GP😂😂
Wow it's crazy I've reached people who have the same thing. How did you learn to let the air out because I can't do that!? 🤣 I've made a full video about it, probably coming out Sunday :)
@@TomInTheSky2001 tilting my head back slightly and trying to get that relaxation feeling in my chest and throat muscles. when the air comes out it sounds like a creaking door, it's still uncomfortable but it's better than nothing coming out at all haha. Lager and cider, can be detrimental if I drink them in an unrelaxed situation. if I;m relaxed it just creaks out, if I'm nervous I can't get it out at all. and Prosecco/champange, damn that stuff is my kryptonite. even relaxing muscles can't help with those. hope you find a way to make the condition more comfortable for yourself
brilliant video
Thank you!!!
YAY! 18 VIDEOS, LET'S GOOOO! Loved all the footage and foilage, happy Autumn, the Japanese Maple is beautiful The shot from 25:45 , not sure if it just the lighting, but this is one of the better talking head compositions I've seen across this series. Brings out the blue in your eyes too. I hope you're doing well, uk meal deals seem quite grim though I suppose aussie ones aren't that much better. :'))
Thanks so much!! I loved making this episode tbh, I wanted a video where if I wanted to see what Autumn was like I could come to this one haha. And thanks for saying that about the talking head, I actually didn't realise it was good 🤣 I decided for some reason id use my actual camera instead of my phone, I'll try and do this more often, usually it's just so much more convenient to grab my phone tho. Yeah I'm getting bored of meal deals. I want to eat better but it's hard sometimes as they're so convenient. Health needs to be priority tho! :)
So refreshing to watch this kind of content. I’m having overnight oats with blueberries and strawberries and maple syrup for dinner. As a person who have just started uni and finished A levels, I find your videos inspiring. I also resonate with you with working in retail. Well done, Tom! I truly wish you the best of luck with your future, and I’m really looking forward to what you’ll keep adding in the future to your channel. And to the company that isn’t sponsoring the channel, maybe you should take this as a sign to do so. 😉 Stay confident. Cheers. : )
Thank you so much. Genuinely. Your kindness is so appreciated ❤️
meat balls for me this eve! 8 ) loved the "cool transition" - that made me laugh!
Haha thank you!!! 😁
The Stardew music fits so well, I love the soundtrack for that game, great choice!
Thank you!!!!
Been watching every episode, really liking the mix of cinematography and chatting
That's awesome to hear! Thank you!
4:46 love this clip 😍 and 10:57 . and 5:18 😂 For dinner I'm probably gonna have lasagna
Haha thank you! I want lasagne now 🤣
Hey Tom, I don't normally comment on here, I wanted to thank you for your raw honesty in your vlogs, I've noticed how much more confident you seem, this seems to increase with each vlog you upload, I think your idea of editing other people's vlogs might hone your skills even further and build on your already professional looking vlogs. I thought it a shame that the (name of bar redacted until they pay Tom money to promote their product!) company that manufactured the bar(s) you brought didn't agree to sponsor you, maybe in the future they will see the error of their ways, but one thing I noticed, despite them not wanting to sponsor you, you didn't seem to let it faze you, whereas before I think it would have. I'm pleased to hear that the company you previously worked with are going to work with you again, the new mics seem to work really well and give the auto a deeper and richer sound. btw today I had for lunch Macaroni and cheese.
Thank you so much! I've seen a few comments about my honesty, which is funny because I don't think I could physically not be 🤣 thank you for your comment it was really kind and made me smile :) I'm loving the creation of these videos and I'm super happy that people like them, only up from here for us all
A other Good Vid , keep it up
Thank you I will!
Wouldn't it be an option in the long term to renovate a house or maybe even build a new one? As a civil engineer, you have skills in this area.
That would be awesome and I'd love to, but I honestly don't think my degree gave me those skills. I'd be more knowledgable about the structural side of things, but thats about it :/. My long term dream, maybe not my first home, but down the line I'd love to build things on my own land, even if it's just in my garden. PS, If you sent me £10, thank you so much!! It helps a lot :)
@@TomInTheSky2001 You're very welcome. I am an electrical engineer and in my first job my company often sent me to the construction sites. I learned a lot working there as an electrician. That would also be a tip if you can't find an office job in your field. Construction workers are always in demand and combining the theory from university with the practical was very beneficial for me, especially the skills you acquire through it.The work is hard if you are not used to it, but not as bad as you might imagine.
QUIT SUGAR
It's so difficult 😔 I'm not that bad tho haha
This video reminded me to go outside and enjoy the autumn colours! Thanks for the video I was looking forward to it all week:)
That's so awesome to hear! Yes go enjoy Autumn! It's over so quick haha. Thanks for watching I really appreciate the support! :)
Kind could of blooming sent you like 2/3 items, wouldn’t of killed them 🤦♀️ 😅
Right! 🤣 I'll try again in a couple months 🤣
i just really enjoy your videos
Thank you so much! 😊
Keep on going, Tom!! You are so inspiring! :-) I love that you are doing not saying peace - drink more water!! 😆
Thanks so much! Haha water is very important
Well, I want a crumpet really bad. But I will probably have something small maybe a coffee and some of my daughters food lol - IYKYK
Haha I really like fruit puree, my younger brothers used to have it. Thanks for watching! 😁
so yeah i too love a marmite crumpet - but have you tried putting cream cheese on top of the marmite? OMG. king of crumpets: well toasted crumpet, marg', marmite - then a thick layer of cream cheese... delish.
Going out to eat tonight, at a southern American food place, so maybe some fried chicken!
Me too! 🤣🤣
I'm so excited that you've posted!! Quite a long one too, I'll dig into in the morning!
Tysm! I hope you enjoy :) I think it's a relaxing one
@@TomInTheSky2001 I've sent you a little something on buy me a coffee! I just finished the episode, definitely your best one yet!
I have the exact same thing with the lack of burping! I'm quite lucky that fizzy drinks don't cause me much discomfort at all, but breathing too much when talking does me in haha. Another good vid mate
Wow I've never met anyone with the same thing. I've finished a video all about it and it's coming out next week. Will be interesting if you have the same symptoms
I had 3 eggs for my breakfast today but each egg was a double yoke so ended up having 6 eggs. That’s what I’ve had today. Another enjoyable and entertaining episode.
That is actually ridiculous. I've never had a double Yoker but always wanted one. It will be a special day when it happens 🤣🤣 thanks for watching 😁
Let’s go bro. Cool to see another upload from you man 😌
Thanks bro 😁
Well now I want to play Stardew Valley…thanks Tom! Honestly a great Autumn game though.
Haha thanks for noticing! And me too, I've wanted to play it this whole month. The other day I was listening to the soundtrack whilst walking somewhere and it felt like I was playing in real life 🤣🤣
@@TomInTheSky2001 Your video actually made me think I should listen to the soundtrack during work. It would make spreadsheets more interesting. Like I'm just playing a game haha.
same 😂
39 minutes? What a treat
Haha thank you! Enjoy!
Absolutely killing it Tom. Getting better and better every time. Feel the growth and keep going!
Thank you bro!!
You're gonna make it bro. Keep going!
Hey mate, love your videos, I think the world would be a better place if more people produced content like this. Noticed you mentioned sustrans here, i actually work in the same office as them in Newcastle (assuming its the same company). Let me know if you'd like an intro to someone that works there
Wow what a coincidence, I'd love that! If you have time could you send me an email please at tomintheskybusiness@gmail.com Thank you :)
Hey Tom, just came across your channel whilst eating dinner and wanted to say you've earned yourself a new subscriber mate. I'm at a similar stage of life to you in regards to about to graduate uni but not sure which direction I want to take my life and career. I'm Interested to watch your journey and see where you end up! All the best mate and I'm rooting for you and hope things work out how you envision!
Thats so awesome, welcome and thank you! :)
I'd take the risk dude, you only live once and you regret the things you don't do, not what you do
🙏🙏
get a grad job and do this on the side. if the youtube doesnt workout you still have the job. ideal scenario is being able to switch from grad job to youtube, but having the stable income will allow you to fund the lifestyle you want but also can be invested into improving the youtube stuff.
With your incline bench try moving to a bar and increase the weight by 1.25kg on each side and aim for 8-12. If you find that you're achieving 12 reps easily add another set of 1.25kg best to get 8 reps with higher weight so you can see that grow over the weeks on a push and chest day
That's great advice, I will try that next push day, thank you for helping :)
I came across your RUclips the other day, and it's so refreshing to see someone so genuine and optimistic. Your work ethic and your content style feels like classic youtube which is so rare. If you plan to continue I'm sure you'll grow massively
Wow what a compliment, thanks so much! I hope you're right 🤣
The washing machine to dog transition was so good haha
Haha thank you for appreciating it! 😁
All I will say is this is the life you are supposed to be living, so make the most out of it
Thank you!!!
Great video, big respect for this Tom. In the exact same position as you, lost is the one way to describe it, with so many thought about what’s right and what I actually want to do. I don’t know if I really want a job within my graduated field, but I have a passion for other things. And getting a graduate job and going the “normal” or “expected route” can take away time to dedicate towards those others passion in my view. My worry is getting stuck in something i don’t like, pushing my passions aside and not actually taking any risks to enjoy life. And “Comparison is the thief of joy”. It’s hard not to worry about what others our age are doing etc having graduated, but I think you’re making the right decision. Keep going 🙌🏾
Thank you I really appreciate you sharing that. I feel the exact same as you. I feel I'd regret not taking the risk and always wonder what could've happened, but I understand both perspectives. Goodluck for whatever you choose to do :)
@@TomInTheSky2001 No problem at all. Thank you for putting out the videos, felt like I was the only one for a while. I get both perspectives too it’s just difficult navigating a way around everything. Keep the videos coming 🙌🏾I appreciate the response
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, as someone 4 years out of uni, i do think you're underestimating the value of stability/money... 4 years later, so many friends/acquantances now feel betrayed by the "follow your passion" advice and those grad doors do close so quickly if you don't get the experience as a fresh grad. a grad job + videography on the side would be ideal, especially in this job market - I'm rooting for you Tom!!!!
Thank you!!!
loving the more frequent uploads, also admire your decision to go all-in on videography/YT. You are young, no better time to take these kind of risks!!! Best of luck mate
Thank you Paul! 😊
I was in a similar situation like you, I also picked the safe route. I studied electrical engineering and got a job right away after university. I never did an exchange semester or lived for a longer time in an other country. Never did any other job except the one in my field. Looking back, I wouldn't do it again this way. I think I would have tried more things. Opened myself up more to new things. After all it's the experiences we think about when we are old. That's exactly the problem with us creative people. We have so many ideas, we want to try so many things.
I really appreciate the honesty and insight, thank you for the reassurance :)
I'd say focus on getting a graduate engineering job and do the video stuff on the side. If the video stuff starts to pick up, you can always move into that full-time at a later date - it doesn't have to be either or. And even if that doesn't happen, the stability and income that comes with a career like engineering will afford you the ability to do whatever you want in the future.
best way to figure it out is to do it, so if you do civil engineering but realise it's not for you at least you know. figure it all out in your 20s, work hard on what you've found in your 30s and make good money
