    I been a framer for a few years now, we have a 12 inch Bosch miter sliding saw and the sliding mechanism works really well, definitely space saving. To be frank with you the only times we do miter cuts on a miter saw is for trim and finish work, 90% of the time the boards are 2.5-4 inches wide.
    I bought a 7 1/4 inch sliding miter saw last year, I went with the cobalt brand, weighs 26 lbs, blades cost a lot less, the Bosch miter saw has not been used since then, the 7 1/4 inch sliding miter saw can cut 2x8 laying flat on a miter and 2x10 laying flat on straight cuts, plus for laminate or wood flooring jobs the miter saw is handy especially since it slides and it only cost 7-13 bucks to replace the blade.
    Best part is lighter tool, takes less space, cheaper to replace blades, will do 95% of your miter cuts and it cost me about $150

    • @jascogoods
      @jascogoods  4 дня назад

      I agree, I could probably get by with the smaller saw on 90% of the stuff I do also. I had a 10inch Ryobi before this and I it got me by. There was only a few times that I had wished I had a 12 inch but it was enough to make me want to get one. Its like one of those things that you don't use that much but its great to have when you need it. When I get a table saw with a miter slot I'll be able to make a crosscut sled and then I won't really ever need the 12 inch saw. Thanks for the comment.

    As a hobby woodworker I have used Ryobi tools for the last 7 years. No problem with the batteries. I even managed to get a non Ryobi battery from Amazon which works perfectly with my tools, and it was about a third of the cost of a real Ryobi battery. Its still working after 4 years. Also I keep the batteries at full charge for use, so maybe that helps the lifespan.

      Same here. I have several Ryobi from 2008, other color green and they work fine. I also have 10 Ryobi batteries and still have all of them working. I got so many batteries from sales where it's the same price as a bare tool.
      The only Ryobi tool I regret buying is the cordless electric planer 4.5". Never use the darn thing.

I also have a DeWalt drill impact combo that I got as a gift but they are my special tools that I use around and keep inside the house 😂 I have grown to love Ryobi as they have so many tools for the battery. Had a Bosch and a Makita, 12” and 10”. For most anything the Makita 10” slider just can’t be beat. But when you’re doing crown work, you need a 12”. The Bosch was ok, but once I got the dewalt, things got easier. Set up, accuracy, convenience, power, all improved. When you need a 12, can’t be beat.

    I have the Ryobi PowerStrike 18G Brad Nailer, 23G Pin Nailer, and Narrow Crown Stapler and I haven't had one issue with them over the last 5-7 years. They are powerful and never jam. If you *made* me find an issue it would be the weight but only with a 6+ hour battery and only on the Brad and the Stapler, the Pin Nailer is super light.

    I don't have any experience with the earlier blue Ryobi tools. All of my Ryobi tools are 2 years or less. I can tell you that I have a ton of Ryobi cordless hand tools and they are awesome. Yes it makes a difference weather you buy brushless or not. Ryobi has a huge platform of handy options and everything they make has worked great for me. Never had an issue with any of their batteries. I can see where if a person is building houses for a living or something that they might want Dewalt or Milwaukee etc. But for me and my woodshop, especially considering the enormous variety of tools in the platform, Ryobi has been solid as far as hand tools go. Miter saws, table saws and other larger stuff I'm not a Ryobi fan. But hand tools- they are a great value.

    • @jascogoods
      @jascogoods  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you, I appreciate you sharing your experience. The dark blue tools were not too bad. other than the drill/screwgun they had was not variable speed. Meaning you pulled the trigger and it took off at top speed and only that speed. 😂 I really don't mind the green ones, they get the job done. I haven't used a lot of the newer Milwaukee or Dewalt tools to know the difference. But as far as the drill driver combo that I have used from Milwaukee they are on a different level than Ryobi. Mot tools I have in Ryobi I don't Have in any other brand because I already have the Ryobi version.

    Skil bandsaw is first on my list because # 1 - I hardly use it, # 2 - when I use it, the blade that came with the saw wanders and doesn't cut straight even when using a fence. Second on my list is the Dewalt cordless angle grinder because that thing eats up batteries like nothing else so i use my corded RYOBI, yes a Ryobi and it works perfectly with no problems whatsoever.

    • @jascogoods
      @jascogoods  Месяц назад +1

      YES 😂 Mins wanders too, It actually pulls the piece away from the fence!! I have not used the cordless grinder, I think because I'm old-school I still want some tools to be corded because I fell like in some situations the corded versions just work better. I’ve never used ryobi, most of my hand tools are dewalt, and they’ve been pretty good for what I need. I have some Bosch and makita tools as well, both are also very good. After seeing that miter saw I’m glad I didn’t get the dewalt I bought a Bosch that doesn’t have the rails sticking out like that, but dewalt seems to make good stuff so I’m sure that saw is pretty accurate

    I'm another with no issues with my Ryobi batteries. I have a few of the newer green Ryobi tools and the only one I don't like is the table saw n that is mostly due to the fence. As for table saws I’ll never buy a cheap table saw (current contractor saws) the commonly available old cast iron Craftsman belt drive can be had for around $100 and are nearly bulletproof if you want a 1st class saw new high precision rip fence and miter gauge under $400 and some of your time I’ll match it against a cabinet saw for precision.
    Used tools dominate my shop some highly modified, some slightly modified, and some used as purchased.
    The HF current mini lathe is very good

    I bought Ryobi and used for quite some time. Then I thought the batteries were failing and decided to buy Dewatt through a special deal. It was only later talkng to the Ryobi dealer that I took my batteries and charger into the shop that we discovered the charger was the problem and batteries except one were fine. On decided to buy a Ryobi lawnmover so I got a battery charger pack. The Dewatt mower wasn't suitable being much heavier. So after that at a secondhand store I found Ryobi chargers quite cheap in near new condition and after checking bought a spare. I recently after looking on YT found a way to reset my dead battery.
    Comparing the 2. As expected Dewatt is the better tool tool being tradesman quality but Ryobi should be OK for DIYers. But for specialist tools such as chainsaws beware that they can be serviced as the local Ryobi agent here does not supply parts to repair agents so they won't touch them.

    • @jascogoods
      @jascogoods  24 дня назад

      Thank you for all that information I appreciate it. I am sure it wasn't my charger because I had 2 chargers and the other batteries were still charging. That is one good thing about Ryobi, you can get lots of batteries and chargers and not spend an arm and a leg. I still have some of the batteries and I want to try the reset thing. Someone sent me a youtube video showing how to do it and so I thought I would give it a try. I have been keeping the batteries incase something came a long like this! 😂 I agree, My Dewalt was better quality and the Milwaukee I recently bought are even better than the Dewalts. But the Dewalts I have are much older so I would have to compare some newer models to really make a conclusion. Thank you for the comment!

    Wy wife once gave me a spot welder as a present. So I ordered a box of Liitokala 16850 high-current li-ion accus, and now, instead of buying new tool batteries, I am just refilling them with new accu modules. Sometimes 'my' batteries last longer than the original ones; and I even managed to successfully convert older ni-cd batteries to li technology by integrating li bms charging control modules within. Thus giving a new life to my very old Bosch power tools which I loved,and giving them a significantly longer runtime.

    First, today's green Ryobi, especially the One +HP series, are a far cry from the blue stuff. They're still hit and miss, a little, but the newest Airstrike nailers are very good, and preferred over Milwaukee for home users, since you can recharge the piston yourself with air. Milwaukee needs serviced and they refill, I think, with nitrogen. I buy mostly Milwaukee, both 18V and 12V Fuel, and Ryobi battery tools, and I'm very happy with them. As far as the Dewalt sliding miter, it's probably the best, most reliable, and rugged on the market. I'm in construction, and Dewalt is all I see carpenters use. I don't see Festool, other than track saws, nor Makita or Bosch out there. You need to make that mobile, where you can wheel it out and put it back. The Bosch is neat, but if that arm gets bumped out of alignment, it's going to be lots of fun realigning it.

    • @jascogoods
      @jascogoods  Месяц назад

      Thank you for the information, It is appreciated. The only problem I have with the green Ryobi is the batteries that stop charging. The tools themselves are great for the price and can easily get the job done. With that said after using the Milwaukee batterie powered tools you can really see a difference in power and quality but you will pay the price for that power and in most cases its not needed. I didn't know that about the nailers so thanks for the info. I have an air compressor so I have just been using the pneumatic nailers because they are so much cheaper and quicker but it's been a while since I have used a battery one so I don't know if that's still the case.

    Ryobi table saws are the worst as the fence system is horrible. I would’t recommend any cheaper budget table saw, including the Harbor Freight unless you just want something for occasional use around the house. I don’t have a problem with most other Ryobi tools for a hobbyist or DIYer other than perhaps their miter saw. I’ve never used one, but I’d stay away from their saws. If buying a job-site table saw, like many of us do, buy a Dewalt that fits your budget. They have a great fence system. I would recommend the 7491RS as I think it’s their best and it will run an 8” dado stack, although I’d recommend a 6” stack as it’s easier on the motor and will cut 99.9% of any dado you’ll ever need. It also has a larger rip capacity than most others. The miter gauge sucks on all job-site table saws, but you can buy something like the Incra V27 which I believe is probably one of the best within a lower price range. Thanks for the video! I think all woodworkers have a list of at least 5 tools they regret buying. I probably have a list of 20+ tools.

I would love to save up and get a saw stop but that's gonna be a little ways down the road for that. Maybe I will look into the dewalt like you said. again thanks for all the input.

    On any battery, if you let it die and then just set it down, it will have a slow discharge. Once they get to a certain point, the charger will not charge it. If you take jumpers and give them a trickle charge off of another battery, they will take a charge again. Best practice, however, is to throw them directly on the charger when they die.

    I bought all Ryobi tools and I'm very happy with the battery life. I have some that are 4 years old and still charge and last as long as they should.If I was a woodworker as a business I might go for a higher price brand but as a hobby woodworker and home owner this is all I need. I started out years ago with Craftsman kit and still have all the tools and a few of the batteries that work fine. You must have got a bad battery if it only lasted a year. I wish people would quit knocking Ryobi tools because they are great economy tools and never had one fail.

I have had 2 of the smaller batteries quit working in the 10 years I have been using them. I use them almost daily. Either I have been fortunate or you have been unfortunate with your experience. I think I a more in the center. I think they can get the job done and are priced very good. I only had issues with the batteries. With that said after using different brands there is a noticeable difference in quality and power when you put them head to head with more expensive brands. “Opps something just broke” 😱😂😂 Thousands of workers, fitting and farting, swearing by and using Ryobi tools, at least 💯. My good friend and his son swear by them, and have all the green tools. So, being the friend, asked to try them out, ummmm, “bangs head on desk”, why, why did I do that?! So tried your favourite big box store HD, Rigid, “ bangs head on desk”, looking at a mirror, seeing these red marks and bumps on my head, not going away! I am looking punch drunk and sore, cries.
    Missing my full Dewalt kit that I sold to another friend that had his tools stolen. Okay tried team yellow, yet, green and orange make my forehead hurt, and my desk looking dented at one side. Now, sneaking a look at team red, being a forlorn unrequited love from a distance. Yup, had enough, walked into HD, got a card and bought, a team blue kit! Huh, well Makita was another make I have been hiding my love and desire for. My good friend, though wondering why I did not like his green kit, looked at me suspiciously, “You go on and on about Milwaukee, yet went and bought Makita?.” 🧐😖 Scowling at me! “Umm buddy”, I answered quietly, “ They both start with an M, no R’s, D’s or whatever for me, only M’s” Grinning back at him.
    Over the year, buying and filling up my team blue tools, and always bought them with bonus free 5amp battery and charger, with….. no regrets. Batteries, last and hold their power, (something a lot do not get, any lithium battery watchamacalls it, always charge, discharge, charge, discharge, from the get go, they perform better and last longer). I learned a long time ago, get what you need that is reliable, and always pay a bit more for quality. Quantity, you can always get more as you need them, down the road. Though, I have to admit, Milwaukee’s brad nailer ( thinking on the 12v as I do have their Fuel driver, which is awesome) are better, not really hung up on the Makita ones.
    The moral of the story, there is none, since I am sure HD’s return dept hates me, well maybe, did hate me, until I settled on the blue tools. Still, I swear by Dewalts corded 5” palm sander, which does a magnificent job. How do I know, I returned the cordless, green and orange crappy, wood wreaking, others. Don’t short change yourself, even if you do not call yourself, a so called professional, quality surpasses, cheap. “Yes, I agree with you”
    Btw, a tad bit of history, I was in the trades, renovating. Retired now, yet, electrical, plumbing, tiling, Master Painter Refinisher, demolition, framing, flooring, roofing, seen it all, used so many, know my tools. What works for you, is what is important, not what others say.
    Oh, those zero clearance miter saws, seen and heard, they should be avoided.

    I then picked up a Ryobi ONE+ edger. It too came with a 4.0 Ah battery and charger. Once you have at least two chargers and a few batteries, you're good to go. I've since bought a Ryobi tire inflator and a hot glue gun. Both have been great to have. Milwaukee doesn't even sell tools like that.

      Thank you, I appreciate the advice. It was a few different houses so its probably not that but I do think it could be the heat here in Vegas.

    I really don't get why you never tried rigid they have batteries for life they often also make sure the tool does the job on all of my reviews I have seen they always say they do the job they aren't the best in the review ever but they are always rated as does the job just not great and they are there for the lifetime of the company

      I do have a few Rigid tools. I have a ridged router that's awesome. I just don't have any of their battery powered stuff. when I was looking at battery powered tools some of the Rigid tools looked clunky. I was looking at combo kits on black Friday to get the best deal and when I was researching it most people were saying either Milwaukee, Makita, Dewalt, or Ryobi. Its hard to try a new battery powered tool because you have to invest in the whole battery system. That means different chargers and more batteries. Thank you for the comment.

    what? Bro you have bad luck with batteries. do you have the ONE + HP ones too? theyre supposed to be supercharged. :/

    • @jascogoods
      @jascogoods  2 месяца назад

      Yea they are the one +. I am not sure if the ones that stopped charging are the HP ill have to look at them again. They have a new battery they just came out with that's supposed to be really good. Much better than all their previous ones. I might get a few for the tools I still have.

    Your saw might treat you better if you pronounce his name correctly: Ree-o-bee.

      😂😂😂 I hear people say it both ways but most importantly they say it Ri-o-bee in their commercials. So I say it how they say it. 😂 Thank you for the comment.

    I had to stop about half way through. Complaining about incredibly cheap tools after 15 yrs. To top that off saying you can't afford to replace a small Milwaukee battery. I mean we've all been there and lots of days I still am but I don't go on RUclips complaining about cheap 15 yr old tools. Maybe the video got better but I had watched more than I wanted to hoping for improvement.

      You missed out because the video got wayyyyy better. The next tool I complained about was only 10 years old and then I took my shirt off.
