A chance encounter with a fellow traveler in Baja led us to what turned out to be the most amazing spot we’ve found so far in Baja. We came to La Ventana hoping to take a stab at kitesurfing lessons and got so much more than we bargained for.
La Ventana is known for some of the best wind sports conditions in the world - you can learn how to wing, kitesurf, or kiteboard here. Even if you’re not up to the challenge of kiteboarding, you can still enjoy watching hundreds of kiters get after it from the beach.
As it turns out, kiting is incredibly hard and takes so much mental and physical effort to learn. Of course, we got immediately hooked and can’t wait to see where this new sport takes us. We’ve got a few more kitesurfing lessons ahead of us, but after one week of kitesurfing lessons, we are well on our way.
Even better than the kiting, it is the company in La Ventana. Every winter, people travel from all over the world to come to La Ventana to kite and meet up with their fellow wind sports enthusiasts. It feels like a big family that is so welcoming and fun to be around.
We had so much fun in La Ventana, that we ended up staying for over three weeks! We will definitely be back someday for both the kitesurfing and the company.
