Soo many people dont understand that. Putting it in a stand and showing them is the only way. So many people think its not shifting right even when you ride with them and are like left shifter. Explaining very well but once they see it in the stand theyre like oohhh i see,and 7 out of 10 times still come back and say the fronts not shifting right. You get it in the stand its perfect you ride it to test under load, still perfect. Probably one of the biggest issues people donet get. Then they have the friends tgat ride and think they know it all and theyre like, thats not right. Wich puts doubt in them and because the friends rides trials they think they know all over the people with certifications and actual schooling. Im so greatful for the people that do understand trim. Theres less that never get it then do in my 30 years experience. This video needs to be seen by everyone who wants a road bike and all bike shops should make one and post it as well.

Back in the day BEFORE trim function was available, the Pros (Lance Armstrong, Marco Pantani) would 'Hack' install a Friction Shifting Downtube Shifter for the Front Derailleur and an Aero Brake Lever to replace the heavier Left "Brifter". Erroneously people thought this was to save weight during climbs, when in fact it was so they could ride 'cross-chained' without the chain dragging on the Front Derailleur Cage. Unfortunately Flat Bar 'Rapidfire' shifters found on MTBs/Hybrids don't have a 'Trim Function' and there is no reasonable hack to fix chainrub whole Cross-chaining. A GREAT Idea would be to invent a 'Friction Shifting' Left Brifter and 'Rapidfire Shifter' o you could 'manually trim' the Front Derailleur.

the question is how do you shift the front derailer left or right? This is what's missing in this video !

How does one adjusts the trim?

Adjusting the cable tension on the barrel adjuster. Depending on year of shifters and componentry. In cheaper models like sora and claris its right on the shifters right where the cable hoising comes out.. On nicer components like tiagra 105 ultegra and dura ace its usually placed in the housin and you twist it counterclockwise to tighten and clockwise to loosen
