Well, I agree with you! We have a couple that appear to be SMS. But, not perfect match on the example.
The two that we have have more extreme doubling & exact die markers on both coins. They appear to be quadruple die. Not this example coin you reference.
They don't have the normal finish is rough, they do have minor die scraps that are identical
If we did not two of them. I would just say it's damage. But, both coins match identical
But, they will have to be sent off to verify and I like ANACS.
But, I do think there is more of these coins out here than just the 50 sets.
I think there are several verity of the coin and that they were having problems getting the die right.
      Just my personal thought.
But, it's sad that people get nasty about it.
I really appreciate your videos. Thanks for going over the markers.
You can see one of them at nuggetridge.com You decide. We have two. But, one is in Spain & here in us. We will grade together.
So, we have to grade both at Same time because they are nearly identical.
But, the some of die markers same die as the example you show.

Thanks for this... The reason so many people get fooled is because other RUclips bloggers, who are normally pretty good, get people with click-bait. They actually do gin up interest, but do so at an expense to the hobby. I can't tell you how many people on coin forums claim they have a 1964 SMS coin, when the truth is they were all with Eva Adams, then sold off to collectors, who sold to other collectors. So the chances if finding it in change or a Dansco album or coin roll from the bank (as some bloggers claim) at home are close to zero...

Im sure this has already been covered ( I only read the comments from recent to several pages down) Im paraphrasing here but according to PCGS the graded coins are photographed prior to being encapsulated to ensure the best image possible. Having said that, it pretty much drives the point that your coin must look as close to exactly as a coin can get ,excluding PMD, without it miraculously becoming the actual coin you are comparing. (this has been known to happen on occasion and is always temporary with the coin in question reverting back to "close but no cigar" or "wtf was I looking at" after ones attention is diverted from coin inspection to back of eyelid inspection for three or more hours.)

Great informative video but I think one thing missing from the images shown and your video is also the sides of the coin. What you read about the coins in the beginning of the video talks about very distinct square reeding or something like that and no images were shown about how distinct they are or look. That would also help. I have a dime that from my local coin shop said is that air gets trapped when the coin is struck it almost acts like a bombe and cause damage and sometimes cause the layers of clad coin to separate he showed me exactly where it looked like this happened and learned something new. But also learned something new that same day. That someone who knows more about coins won't believe or try to tell you its nothing. My local coin shop guy I speak of tried pulling my coin apart, I'm glad he didn't break my coin, also he then proceeded to tell me it looked to be tampered with to make it look like an error. Yet you can see the damage from the coin where he told me that acts like a bomb when struck and how it causes such a thing 🤔. So you can see what he talked about what happened and then proceeded to discredit my coin and find. That day I decided I will get it graded and looked at by a grading company and not rely on some who is knowledgeable about coins im not saying he isn't, but to try and pull apart my coin I have and tell me it's nothing I have a problem with. When what he spoke about how something could come about you can clearly see and then proceed to say it has been tampered with have a big problem with. I'm no liar, not trying to cheat or take advantage of something or someone for money yet the implication of tampering doesn't sit well with me when I know exactly how I acquired such a coin by hunting no deception needed. Cause my coin looks so exotic from the side and if put in a holder means you would see it. Maybe along with a slab pcgs should make a print out of all things about the coin and point them out along with grading then when they slad it yoy would know everything wrong or you have with a coin, without having to break it open just to see something. Great video just felt the sides of the coin weren't pictured or left out and would help others when trying to identify such a coin from what you read about the coin. Seemingly seems particular to such a coin is my only thought. Also your videos about misrepresented coin selling online let's me know there still are good people in the world. That 1977 Kennedy half bu roll i bought should have said 1977 cherry picked like craxy mint set roll would have been more appropriate cause they all have mirror finishes but if these things are uncirculated meant he never sold them he kept and did whatever he wanted to with said coins is more appropriately titled lol

I think that I have a while set. Every coin is double die and the half dollar has what looks like the dangling 4. They don't have that shiny proof finish. It looks like a matte finish. I have never seen this holder before either. Very strong details and very sharp edges. Any help would be appreciated.

I know you hear I all the time....but I think I want you to see one I came across in an aftermarket cardboard plastic case with a quarter and a dime from 64 with d marks. Scratches look legit and file marks are present on neck and even behind ear.

I don't examine them. You will need to find someone who does. you can contact someone through CONECA and they will want to see it in hand.

Like all coins as the dies wear they are treated accordingly and the finish is Satin, it's the first thing to look for of any coin or coins to identify. They are so close in the shine Satin and no finish when first done it would be very hard to tell one from the other. So as time passes on though the finish is a big part in keeping a coin or a table or about all that have o e on it. A Satin finish is weaker much weaker than high gloss and that is with all finishes. Metal and wood it's the same as far as a protective seal on all. So Satin is also much easier on the eyes and carries nice eye appeal. So as the dies started to wear they would leave many similar marks or the like to many of those with a die chip or the like. This is 5 coins of that sms set and no doubt what so ever !!!

    Hello,
I got some change today and in it I got a Kennedy half dollar. It is a 1964, when I got home I went to place it in my collection of Kenny’s….. but upon closer look it seemed different…..it seemed “ Duller” if that is the correct word……. It just looked different then the ones I have gotten before. I doubt I have this special Kennedy but as I stated it just seems different.
I weighed it and it came out weighing 12.71. My scale is correct because I use it on a daily bases.
I must have a least 60 to 80 Kenndys this one just stuck out?
What is this placed called annex?
I am sure I am wasting time along with your but I am puzzled.
    Thank you for your time

64 proof sets are common and you got to know how to use price guides and know the grading fees before thinking about sending them off for grading. We sell 64 sets for $35

Hi! Daniel I have a 1964 D P JFK Silver Half Dollar. This coin of mine have a D mint mark in lower right side of 9 in 1964 in the Obverse which is from Denver and no mint mark in the Reverse which is from Philadelphia.
We know this 1964 JFK Silver Half Dollar is a transitional coin and in my opinion this is a Prototype or Experimental Coin.
By Gilroy Roberts and Frank Gasparro.
