Horse poop can be easily controlled with a poop bag attached behind the horse. No biggie. And, if the poop happens to be in front of your house, pick it up and add it to the soil of your garden like my dad and mom used to do in Maastricht in the 1950s when bread and milk was still delivered with horse drawn wagons.
Back in 70's a lot of people rode horses in Cranbrook BC, including me and my friend. We were about 13 years old at the time. NOT one person complained. If horse went poop we cleaned it up. But, Its actually great Fertilizer if kicked into bushes where plants are. Super ECO friendly.
Good for her and the horse. The lady claiming she is worried about her safety needs to realize you can be safe and avoid the horse and follow your traffic laws, you do not decide what's legal and whats illegal just because you are worried about her safety. As for the cops, mind your business and learn the law, do your job and serve the people or find another job. Finally the mayor, best mayor I have seen in all of Canada yet. Keep up the good work mayor and Shelby, keep riding.
It not that the cops should mind their business it’s that they should have went to the council like the mayor said instead of getting legal advise. They just made the wrong move. They were probably only bothering her because of people like that lady they showed complained to them.
This is also an experienced horse rider and she isn't dealing with too many cars either. I think that lady should worry about real problems instead. Drivers being drunk or looking at their phone are more of a problem than this. Why didn't she mention that as well?
My thoughts exactly. When they interviewed that lady, she just reeked of busy body, probably an HOA president also. The police ride horses in the city also, and she has her horse trained, so leave her alone.
At the end when she said, "as long as I'm allowed to," it hurt me inside. Don't let government rule your life anymore. It isn't needed and causes more harm than good by far. Keep riding, no matter what.
@GamesFromSpace No rulers(hip). Natural law is common law already. You scared people are the ones who want to rule over people. Your infatuation with authority being outside of yourself is what has created a weak and subservient society that passively watches its governments and others do what they have done. You have no right whatsoever, be it your opinion and/or your government's, to rule over any other man. The audacity of your blatant entitlement to suggest otherwise is pathetic and sickening. You're on the wrong side of history.
Yes, some towns' economies support the need for livestock. The environment also. Fantastic living beside such wonderful animals. A privilege to share with them.
Police in America look rather not very bright, when viewed from my perch across the South Atlantic. Police stupidity and brutality seems to be a general problem there, chasing away would-be tourists. Does anyone ever think of the damage caused by such buffoons? Don't wave the flag until America is great again. Some lost the plot decades ago.
I live near Lancaster, PA where we literally have horse and buggy parking at the Target and other stores, and we get way more traffic than this place appears to. The fact this town’s peace officers had enough time on their hands to threaten a single rider with JAIL TIME over riding a horse into town just shows this as a case of hand-wringing busybodies who don’t have actual problems to worry about.
That “I’m worried about the horse” woman in the glasses is the epitome of “you should just mind your own business”. Likely never handled a horse in her life but real quick to give her opinion on the matter.
Every single horse is different people are stupid, One of our horses not a chance she would take you off a cliff the second she saw a car, our other horse You could have a convoy of semis with flashing lights Blairing their horn and she would just stand there going meh whatever 😂
I can understand people not wanting horse poop all over the community but the discussion should have been a solution to THAT. Not how to ban her from doing something that’s perfectly legal and that she clearly really enjoys. She isn’t hurting anyone. The problem is unhappy people. They watch this young girl enjoying her life and it makes them angry. It’s shameful. Wonderful mayor, good on him for stepping in and standing up for what’s right!
More support for the horse and rider here :) I always gave the mennonite families and their horses lots of space, passed them slowly, and turned down my stereo when going by. The concern was never with horses on the roads but the drivers who do 50km/h over the speed limit on blind hills and corners.
@@josephphelps5696 it's probably still on the books in a lot of places that a car needs to have someone walk 150 feet ahead of it with a lantern so horses and riders can see it coming.
Unfortunately not unless she has enough pasture land to fully feed the horse. You need at least 2 acres for each horse, and that only works for the summer. Growing feed for horses is not necessarily environmentally friendly. That said, the person complaining is almost as ignorant about horses as the one riding.
I grew up in the mid-west on a farm. This young lady is tougher than most will even begin to comprehend. Horses are unbelievable creatures. This level of riding is remarkable to put it lightly. I don't think people grasp the fortitude it takes. Truly humbling.
I’m not saying she’s a bad rider, but this level of riding is not at all remarkable lol. The hardest thing is getting a well trained horse that doesn’t spook or training it yourself. After that, you just need to know how to steer, especially if you’re just gonna be walking or trotting. Riding becomes difficult when you add in diagonals, canter leads, and other skills. Especially ones that are associated with different riding sports. What she is doing is relatively easy.
I’m glad common sense prevailed. I am a horse owner and instead of an electric vehicle people should reconsider horses for short trips into town. This is a green solution to this EV madness. You go girl. Greetings from Connecticut
There is a town in Ohio called Middlefield. It has a large Amish community nearby. As the town has grown over the years and people have moved there to get away from the city. There’s a Walmart Superstore, more restaurants and apartments. New city council members have tried to pass legislation that would put diapers on the horses. To keep horse manure off city streets. The legislation never gets passed, but as much as Middlefield has grown. There are still people with common sense and have grown up with the Amish buggies moving around town. Council members can threaten all they want, but in the end the animals usually win out.
Ontario , the largest province in Canada , has thousands on Amish and Mennonites that to this day still travel by horse and buggy ! So what’s the matter Alberta ?
I would argue the point of if she has to take her horse off the road then there should be no cyclists on the road either. As for the peace officers, just like the federal government are over stepping their bounds
Police officers are government. They work for the regime and will do whatever they are told. We could follow Nazi Germany ways and the police would do everything they are told to do. Everyone is just following orders.

Ah, yes, nothing like protecting and serving the public by threatening arrest based on a non-crime. Well done officers!
Police are enforcers of the ruling class.
This is why small town are having the police quit. Because of stupid people in office.
Your government already criminalize non crime "thought crime" about topics it doesn't like so
@assassinlexx1993 Except in this case it was law enforcement threatening a person with arrest despite there being no law against it. They tried to enforce without a law to back them up which is a huge reason for distrust of law enforcement.
And mandatory body cameras. That was really scary to a lot of officers.....@@assassinlexx1993

Concerned for her safety? She could have made an effort to make sure everyone knows how to react to horses on roads. Like gone and told Police to please advice motorists to pass wide and slow etc. But no. Karen needed to be Karen.
Karen, for short
In Massachusetts there’s even a chapter of the drivers manual dedicated to horses and other lesser uses means of transportation. Tells drivers how to behave around them, pass them slowly with lots of room, don’t use your horn, etc. It blows my mind that this happened to this lady and glad the situation was resolved!

Hope someone at the police department was held accountable for blowing this out of proportion instead of having an adult conversation.
If your I.Q. Is too high, it will disqualify you as an officer. They don’t want officers who use their brain; only ones who follow orders. An ‘adult conversation’ is usually out of the question. Just exercising authority. Flexing muscles.
That's what happens when cops either make up their own rules or they enforce the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law.

Accountable? Cops? 😂

Not the police's job to worry about MY safety. The Portapique RCMP didn't care about anyone's safety but their own over the two days of shootings.
If she's that worried out her safety, she should take another vaccine.
And wear a mask.
And hand sanitiser.
This is also an experienced horse rider and she isn't dealing with too many cars either. I think that lady should worry about real problems instead. Drivers being drunk or looking at their phone are more of a problem than this. Why didn't she mention that as well?
Police followed interfering busybodies orders rather than remembering they are officers for criminal laws.
My thoughts exactly. When they interviewed that lady, she just reeked of busy body, probably an HOA president also. The police ride horses in the city also, and she has her horse trained, so leave her alone.
Thanks Mayor ❤
At the end when she said, "as long as I'm allowed to," it hurt me inside. Don't let government rule your life anymore. It isn't needed and causes more harm than good by far. Keep riding, no matter what.

Well believe it or not, in most parts of Canada, horse & rider have the right away!!! Used to be anyways!
@@josephphelps5696 it's probably still on the books in a lot of places that a car needs to have someone walk 150 feet ahead of it with a lantern so horses and riders can see it coming.

Honestly, I’m completely Shocked that anyone had the nerve to complain…riding a horse is environmentally friendly….is is not?
Unfortunately not unless she has enough pasture land to fully feed the horse. You need at least 2 acres for each horse, and that only works for the summer. Growing feed for horses is not necessarily environmentally friendly. That said, the person complaining is almost as ignorant about horses as the one riding.
I grew up in the mid-west on a farm.
This young lady is tougher than most will even begin to comprehend. Horses are unbelievable creatures. This level of riding is remarkable to put it lightly. I don't think people grasp the fortitude it takes.
Truly humbling.
what are you yapping about?
I’m not saying she’s a bad rider, but this level of riding is not at all remarkable lol. The hardest thing is getting a well trained horse that doesn’t spook or training it yourself. After that, you just need to know how to steer, especially if you’re just gonna be walking or trotting. Riding becomes difficult when you add in diagonals, canter leads, and other skills. Especially ones that are associated with different riding sports. What she is doing is relatively easy.

Well when you have a communist government in Canada that’s what happens..
