You and the other poster only think of the CO emission pollution, with that whole greenhose gas arguement. What about the brake dust that a vehicle produces in its lifetime that something like a horse produces zero of???

He always rides slow, he always follows the law. A couple of years ago there was an outcry about him being armed. The police and sheriff were well aware of him and had no problems. When I lived in southern California, we had to ride along a road and at one place I leased, push the stoplight button to cross a busy road. Not all horse owners have trucks and trailers. And people who ride regularly don't usually take their horses in a trailer to do so. Legally, horses have the right of way. Sadly, many drivers are not aware of that.
      Yes, accidents can happen. But more accidents happen in cars and we don't ban them. And people on bicycles are at just as much risk of bad drivers as horses are. The only people I ever knew who had a car-horse accident were hit by a drunk driver going way over the speed limit. And I've had horses since 1978.

      Police in America look rather not very bright, when viewed from my perch across the South Atlantic. Police stupidity and brutality seems to be a general problem there, chasing away would-be tourists. Does anyone ever think of the damage caused by such buffoons? Don't wave the flag until America is great again. Some lost the plot decades ago.

    I live near Lancaster, PA where we literally have horse and buggy parking at the Target and other stores, and we get way more traffic than this place appears to. The fact this town’s peace officers had enough time on their hands to threaten a single rider with JAIL TIME over riding a horse into town just shows this as a case of hand-wringing busybodies who don’t have actual problems to worry about.

    More support for the horse and rider here :) I always gave the mennonite families and their horses lots of space, passed them slowly, and turned down my stereo when going by. The concern was never with horses on the roads but the drivers who do 50km/h over the speed limit on blind hills and corners.

    • @LittleBitofHopeToo2518
      @LittleBitofHopeToo2518 6 месяцев назад

      Unfortunately not unless she has enough pasture land to fully feed the horse. You need at least 2 acres for each horse, and that only works for the summer. Growing feed for horses is not necessarily environmentally friendly. That said, the person complaining is almost as ignorant about horses as the one riding.

      I’m not saying she’s a bad rider, but this level of riding is not at all remarkable lol. The hardest thing is getting a well trained horse that doesn’t spook or training it yourself. After that, you just need to know how to steer, especially if you’re just gonna be walking or trotting. Riding becomes difficult when you add in diagonals, canter leads, and other skills. Especially ones that are associated with different riding sports. What she is doing is relatively easy.

    There is a town in Ohio called Middlefield. It has a large Amish community nearby. As the town has grown over the years and people have moved there to get away from the city. There’s a Walmart Superstore, more restaurants and apartments. New city council members have tried to pass legislation that would put diapers on the horses. To keep horse manure off city streets. The legislation never gets passed, but as much as Middlefield has grown. There are still people with common sense and have grown up with the Amish buggies moving around town. Council members can threaten all they want, but in the end the animals usually win out.
