Thanks for sharing your collection via Collectr but why don't you have every high end card there (such as the Latios/Latias GX which is clearly in the background and is not on Collectr?). I love Collectr as well!

Sleepy Tyranitar is one of the most slept on hard to pull Alt Arts, i think its going to climb in price soon tbh.
And it's a popular pokemon. With nobody ripping battle styles it's population is gonna stay lower as well. Awesome alt art for sure.
I ripped tf outta battle styles on got shit on so hard with close to 200 packs and legit pulled 0 alt cards and 0 of my chase cards

I’m not so sure the Iron Crown ex is a card that is being market manipulated by definition; it’s a super playable card that both collectors and players really want, so its actual value is that high from what I can tell. Morty’s Conviction, on the other hand, I do think is being manipulated, because it doesn’t have that same demand from multiple types of people. If you have thoughts on this, I’d be glad to hear it.

Hey Jake - thanks for the video! I like how you did the overlay of the collectr app while explaining it. Did you make this yourself or did collectr provide that graphic? Separately do you edit your own videos or hire an editor? I have made a lot of content and want to start posting but editing is proving time consuming and difficult. Any advice there for a new creator?
I recorded it myself. Your phone should have a built-in screen recorder that's easy to use
I like Collectr and have logged part of my collection on it already, but I stopped for a while because I couldn't find a lot of Japanese cards (especially older/mid era sets and some promo cards) on it!
yup, and also so many of the cards listed aren't accurate on the prices. sometimes the prices arent even moving or change
Jake, do you think Paradigm Trigger is a bit undervalued given it has the Lugia V? I just recently got into Japanese Pokemon and was able to get boxes of this for under $70. Seems a bit undervalued considering these have the Lugia V.
Cool! I just added Gengar VMAX to my collection on Collectr! It didn't cost anything!
I completely understand why the gengar vmax is skyrocketing up in price, but I just wish I picked it up earlier. Sowsow is my all time favorite tcg artist and I recebtly decided I'd try to collect every card they've made the art for. But after seeing that... I don't have a ton of super expensive cards so I'd either have to trade the crown jewel of my collection (The magikarp and wailord alt art from team up) and another few of my most expensive cards (Either my only other card worth over $40 or like two of my few cards in the $20-30 range) or just give up on that idea all together. I might have to ignore the gengar and just pick up the espeon v alt art before that goes up in price

I love Collectr and am making notes on what to get based on your list. Definitely some 20-30 dollar cards you have that I think you were very smart to get that will appreciate nicely.
Have you noticed their updates are usually late and low if not few and far between? According to their app you can still buy evolving skies for $2,900/booster case or lost origin for $900/case… so pricing from end of march? It’s a great hindsight app.
nice insights! enjoying your channel. Influencers are called influencers for a reason... they do make a difference to what people think is important or valuable... you can call it manipulation but it is very much self inflicted by those that follow without making their own decisions.
I really thought the magikarp and the umbreon alt were being manipulated but what you said makes sense. Evo skies goes up so those cards go up and the magikarp might be increasing due to demand for being a great card.
The pull rates for temporal forces are tougher.... I only pulled 2 alts in 6 booster box's. The iron crown alt is playable so it has extra demand and the morty alt is clearly the communities top chase because it's an alt and it's got gengar. The gastly is also doing well because of the Pokémon. I only pulled one gastly in about 300 packs. The demand is higher than the amount available because the pull rates aren't that easy.
Wish I had have bought that umbreon V earlier. Think I’ll give it a few weeks and see if it cools off

I'm very new to the hobby (just over a week lol). What set would you recommend I try/start buying packs of? I enjoy opening the cards more than keeping them wrapped. And I've been starting with 151 and Paldean Fates. I came across a couple sword and shield sets today at a store near me but decided against getting any packs because I just dont know whats worth putting my money towards
If you can get your hands on crown zenith. It's my current favorite modern set to open. You get hits quite often and the art is fantastic

I was always saying that Umbreon V alt art was slept on.
I pulled the Fusion Strike espeon vmax, and I was pretty excited at the time. It’s hovered around 100-120 since I pulled it, but recently it jumped all the way to 320. It almost feels like I pulled it all over again.
I think with the Umbreon V and PokeRev situation, he simply reminded a bunch of people that the card exists. Sets come out so frequently that people are bound to forget about certain cards here and there even if they have great art. So did the price go up because of what PokeRev said? Likely yes. But I don’t think he did so intentionally, and I think the price will either level out in a few months, or if people continue to agree that it’s a great card it may maintain or even slowly climb, especially since sealed product is so expensive for that set right now (which is not tied to PokeRev at all)

I pulled the umbreon v 2 days before pokerevs video then I watched that video, crazy experience.
I know its lower in value compared to the list mentioned, but I’ve been surprised to see Zeraora V alt double in value over the last 1-2 weeks. Surprised it hasn’t been noticed that much
Curious to see if SV sees the same price drops in the high value cards as SWSH did a few months back. Really bummed I didn’t have the money to grab all the SWSH alts I wanted when they were super cheap but at least there are some amazing Trainer Galleries! I’m probably not going to buy any high value SV cards until the sets are well over a year old.

Nahh that gengar alt is fire. The moonbreon is mid. The glaceon vmax alt is way better and valued at 1/4 the price. Somebody pumped that umbreon and it never came back down. Same with the love birds.

@@str8nashtygaming466Gengar is a cult favorite pokemon so I'm not surprised it's finally climbing, but to say it's better than the moonbreon is wild. Umbreon is the most popular eeveelution, and the eeveelutions are up there with Charizard in terms of popularity

the card price is seasonal fluctuate, at end of year, lot of sales in holiday season. and currently, not too many valuable cards in market.
I bought the tyranitar V alt art from battle styles in mint condition today for £60, I think it's undervalued!
I just downloaded Collector and the one thing I would say is it should have different condition values for vintage. I collect vintage wotc holos and a HP card is definitely not same value as a LP card.

Market Manipulation and pumping also fomo leads to big price jump. I traded for an Espeon Vmax alt art last month which was around $130 and also sold a Espeon Vmax alt art for $125 now they're both $150+. Was planning to buy the rest of the alt art then boom it spiked, so much I call it quit and I hope the market will correct itself.

Look at other Tcg cards way higher then Pokémon cards lol they finally realize how hard these cards are to pull and now the Jump in price people are surprised idk some cards like the temple forces cards but swsh era no they should be higher in my opinion they are tough to pull cough cough the (Tina) from lost origin

I think the Moonbreon took attention away from the Umbreon V, it was just too much to have both be super expensive cards, but - now that Evolving Skies is getting into unaffordable territory, it makes sense that people are reviewing what cards they have and seeing which are scarce/underrated.

That umbreon and gengar is overhyped and the art looks meh to me.
The Magikarp is valuable because it’s the first full art(non textured💔) card that shows scratch art. Which is about as 90’s an art form possible… what’s next a night-lite full art?
I just wanted to point out that manipulating the market does not require *controlling* the entire market, but rather having a sizeable position in it. For new in print sets that is very risky and imo stupid behavior. All supply hasn't come to market yet. In the video you mentioned buying out all 100 listings of let's say X card. Obviously, the cards will all be at different price points and you will have a dollar cost average ratio over all 100 listings. By the time the next 100 listing come up they will be near, at, or below the last market price. (No one is gonna sell a card for $20 when last sold is let's say 80-100). The idea is, the new "market" is higher and then the manipulators off load their position as fast as they can till it reaches their break even of dollar cost ratio. This is known as the old "pump and dump". It's day trading and backpack trading on steroids. Sad to see it infecting pokemon now though.
Now if umbreon V passes leafeon Vmax alternate art then I can say that’s market manipulation but if leafeon goes up to 250 then that’s normal

I opened mine so I could add the cards to my complete alt art eeveelutions sets. Really wish I had kept them sealed and just bought the cards loose 😅 live and learn

bruh tcg player has messed up the market. manipulation, by mass buyouts. its pretty lame. that site should no longer be a tool used for market value until they correct their algorithms. nobody in their right mind is paying these asking prices. notice the vendor pov prices compared to the "market"

Nah they tell you this when it's too late. The time to be buying modern was ages ago when prices were $120 for evolving skies, and $85 for chilling reign. These RUclipsrs kept telling you vintage is where the money is at and then tell you it's time for modern when they're done buying their position or when the prices are already up. Anyone buying SWSH at $200/box is dumb and unless you are putting money towards SV, you're a bit too late for moderns sets like SWSH.
my view, is if you buy a $50 trainer box and pull a card everyone is hunting for. a Hot card. I believe that cards value is worth 50 if not more. who cares there are 100,000 copies. not everyone is willing to sell, there are so many factors where 100,000 copies don't make it. if they make it, hopefully the condition of card is great.

TEF is going up and down, but nothing is outstanding. Only playable cards seem to hold any significance in this set. I got every art rare for 1/2 price of a booster. I had upfront fun with opening boosters (by buying an ETB and all the other products (except for booster boxes) once) getting only a handful of cards and resorted over to buy singles like with every other set so far.

You don t seem to understand how whales can manipulate the market, buy on one platform to instantly sell higher on another by having bumped the price up. You only need to buy a couple cards the first day to start seeing the charts change and since people can t be bothered to see how many cards were sold they jump to conclusions and start buying straight away. You don t need your cards to arrive to resell them for those whales. And it is not only collectors but investmentbros who buy sealed products and buy cards too because indirectly it raises the prices of ETB and BBs when cards are being chased. Manipulation is too easy
Lost Origin is a great set don't get me wrong but calling it the next Evolving Skies seems like a stretch.
@twicebakedjake you also forgot playability; temporal forces(especially iron crown) is a meta card going forward so the price at the moment reflects the playability of the card. The TCG isn’t just about the art. People still play the game at a high quantity so no I don’t think iron crown deserves to be referenced as a “manipulated card”

Yes the market is being manipulated. Look up any chase card and go to the top end of sales, and you will see raw copies being outrageously priced by a single buyer. Opossum bud covered this.

All the scarlet violet stuff is manipulated . Temporal forces, magikarp, etc. Alt Arts? Harder to say. All these sets are out of print now and there just won’t be many more showing up .

I understand maybe 150ish for a nice copy of umbreon v. But 200+ is kinda crazy wack. When the other eevelutions vmaxes are around the same price. Was watching listings for psa9 copies of umbreon v at around 110ish after those coulple listings sold the new set price was 190-200+ Definitely wackkk.
