I think games like this should allow you to have 3 options for game day lengths, shot, normal and long. It would be an easy way to accommodate all playstyles. The game looks cute, the mounting of the dino at the end was kinda rough though ngl. Think this will be a sale game for me.
It sounds like a step in the right direction, but I agree with you... the stamina thing will be a turn-off for me and a lot of players out there. Short days is also a huge turn-off.
"Massive open world map without shortcuts like climbing" and "8-10 minutes per day" do not cross. That's like 300 minutes per season. Maybe I could explore the whole map by the end of spring, lol. I know they're adding fast travel but I always prefer not using it.
Definitely a pass. The time restriction is one thing for old games of the genre. But that is simply because those games were limited in size and in content. Keeping this prehistoric time limit is ridiculous. So many devs are giving a slider now, for those who want longer days. Why have a giant world if all I get to do it rush, rush and rush. I want to play my way, take my time withy wholesome, casual game. Not to mention a giant world means nothing when it's empty.... Thank goodness for Fae Farm.
I love the concept of the open world and multiple towns. I'm not sold on it yet though. The days seem way too short. How are we supposed to explore a vast world? It makes me worry that the world might be boring. Also, I'm not digging the music. I'll have to see more before I decide to play.
I think is a good option, the only game I have played is HM One World, and the days seems longer if you have to make the flowers / crops to mutate to complete the 100% So if the days are short and can help this think, I guess is positive.
@@Defender1876 AWL was 16-18 mins per day. Each hour was one minute, each minute being one second. The time has to be going much faster than one minute every second to only be 8-10 mins long.
@@Defender1876 What does that have to do with Harvest Moon: Winds of Anthos' day cycle being 8 to 10 minutes long? There's really no comparison. I own/played the original for Gamecube and own/play the remake and the day cycle is definitely longer than a miserable 10 minutes. The remake has a 24 minute day cycle but the player typically only gets about 19/20 minutes because the game's day starts around 6am. And that's if the players doesn't skip the day after chores. Once you get the alarm clock you can set your own wake up time and get up as early as you want, I believe. I haven't played the 2003 one in years but I know it was longer than a piss poor 10 minutes. Definitely one of my favorite games and the only Harvest Moon game I ever beat, and more than once. "There are four seasons in A Wonderful Life, and each lasts 10 in-game days. These days last 24 real-life minutes, which doesn't sound long but can start to drag the longer you play." Unless Natsume changes the day cycle to make it longer I'll probably skip this game. At least for now. It's a shame because I was looking forward to it because of how much it changed from One World. But the big open and barren land coupled with the super short day cycle is a deal breaker for me.
@@hexes5122As I said, I haven't played the original in years but it was definitely longer than 10 minutes. I clocked the remake in at around 19 and a half minutes, give or take. And this was only from 6am to 12 am the following day.
The game looks really good will definitely be picking it up but they need to 100% increase the days to around 30 minutes a day. That way I can take care of what I need to explore a bit and then go to sleep to start the next day.
One world was bad BUT had things i enjoyed and this seems like even more of a step in the right direction, it may not be perfect but natsume has surprised me and i preordered it (wanted the cow plush)
I wish the developers would've made the map closed and smaller, but full. An open world is no fun if it's empty and just wastes my time having to run around for no purpose
I don’t see a problem with the time passing faster as long as they get rid of the forced sleep function. Being able to stay up should have been allowed a long time ago.
The more I see about this game, the more I’m excited about it. Hopefully they’ll add time to the length of day. Did they say anything about aging in this game or can you pretty much play the same save forever?
I'm honestly not too sure if I want to pick it up. I'll watch you play and then make a solid decision. One thing I don't like is the art style -- it looks very plastic-y and reminds me of Waves 1 and 2 of the MK8 DLC. Also, the movements are SO SLOW. That makes the 8-10 minute days even worse.
I got my friend into SOT and I want her to also try HM but the Modern one looked icky😂 I Love their improvements on this BUT 8-10 mins a day!? Wtttffffff😅
Great video! About the stamina thing, during our session, they said that you can walk and run. Walking doesn't require stamina, but running does. So, slightly better than One World in that sense as well.
Harvest Moon, dont need a empty open World... the Mines looking empty and Borring too. They use 1 Face Typ, for EVERY NPC. Just the Eyes and hair, are different. For Real, the game is just trash, like the One World. Just looks a bit better.
I was so disappointed with Harvest Moon: Light of Hope that I never went back to the series. Thankfully Story of Season's Pioneers of Olive Town is much better. On the fence about this new Harvest Moon and willing to maybe give it another chance. But to be honest I really hate days being about 8-10minutes long possibly being worse that the world is massive and looks a bit barren. I've also heard the DLC is B.S. as well. I'm in no rush to get this one but I am hoping it's much better
Throughout the day is only 8-10 minutes long? That's stupid, we wont have time to explore the whole map when we'll be taking care of our animals, crops, and looking building materials everyday. I was hoping the days would last at least like 15-20 minutes that way we time to do more things that we wanted to do. I guess 8-10 minutes is okay since I wont be exploring much until I get the things I need for the environment
Too bad the days aren’t like stardew valley. I think last time I checked SV was 13.5 minutes for a day. I might pre order it though still because I really want the cow plushy ha
I agree with you but it is very disappointing to only have 8-10 minutes in a day. What exactly can this do? Almost or nothing. Not to mention that it seems to me to be something done in a hurry. I would understand if it was a demo of the game but I was actually quite sad.
So excited for this game! Should be released today! You think it’s playable yet because every time I click on icon it say “ You cannot play this software yet” is their a certain time to play the game?
Okay so I am not a fan of 8-10 minute days, and I am also not a fan of you have to beat the main story before romancing. You should be able to romance while playing the main story. So far no farming game has been better than Stardew that’s my opinion though…
There are not enough environment objects, reused so much and poorly it’s very obvious. I feel like a lot of eastern developers think they have to be open world to interest players more, but the world just needs to be dense and feel alive. Not every game should or can be open world. I do appreciate that it seems they tried hard to do their best and improve.
The frame rate drops are terrible. You can see of every time he turns around. Also not excited about the big ass open world. If they made the world smaller they could render before hand
I was going to pre order this game but the 10 mins per day is a big no for me, as well as the stamina depleting as you run, while exploring. They should eliminate that. I am hoping they will give us the option to extend the length of days. I love the open map and the game looks good though as you said, a bit empty. Love the animals and the farming. Hopefully, they will improve these points, or I will pass. I will wait and see what happens.
looks amazing and to be honest Pat is the only reason im going back to natsume in playing harvest moon winds of Anthos, thanks Pat for your honest opinion as always
It's like they took the Pokemon Switch open world, took out the Pokemon and added crops. Very intrigued! I was playing Fae Farm, but I find there are glitches, the NPC's are thin, and I thought there'd be more depth there. So I mayyyy pick this up :) . Was a way back when old school Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons player.
The short days (especially with the open world) takes this from a day 1 purchase to a "wait and see." Loving Rune Factory 3 Special, but the short days are just a bummer. I appreciate the impressions!
I agree the giant map is too barren. Does not look fun to explore at all. Especially with limited traversability. I'd much prefer a more densely packed smaller map. I don't understand why game devs keep doing this. Nobody is impressed with a massive empty map. For me, this is pretty much a dealbreaker already. It shows the Harvest Moon devs are still missing the mark.
Been playing HM since HM64. Here are my thoughts... For an open world, days need to be longer. Dinosaurs, I could do without. I just prefer normal nature/farm animals. The open world needs more detail. I'm getting tired of seeing these huge world games but they are empty and bland, cough Zelda cough. Underwater adventures/quest would be nice.
Omg that’s my biggest pet peeve with story of seasons FOMT. The days are literally like 5 mins long if that. Unless you’re in the mines then time only passes when you go down the ladder to deeper levels (and I’ve heard time doesn’t pass when you’re inside any buildings either, but I haven’t noticed/paid attention to that lol)

It's almost exactly like one world in a 3d environment. This is not a bad thing at all. Which I 100% one world , those crop mutations were a pain too .
I hear the game is going to have horrible DLC,like having to pay to improve your tools to the last level and a season pass, it sounds like they are milking the cow.
8-10 sounds too much on the shorter side even if it did stopped indoors considering the open world. Can't say I'm crazy on open world stuff (I say even as I'm addicted to TotK at the moment), but hmm...grass cutting out in the open, I do like that.
I've been looking all over, seeing if I should pre-order or not (since so many games are coming out around the same time).
