  • I explain how to install an aftermarket head unit in a 2008 Lincoln Mark LT (2004-2008 Ford F150). I also describe what wires to tap into to get the OEM backup camera display on the head unit.
3 wires for oem back up camera on passenger's side A-pillar:
Red with yellow tracer = video + (positive RCA cable)
Black with yellow tracer = video (negative RCA cable)
Green with yellow tracer = reverse signal (reverse wire on aftermarket HU)

I know this is an old video. But very useful. Here is a big-time saver.. open your glove box fully, and you will see a gray harness on the passenger side wall. Mine had a Ford sticker, bl3t 14334. You can tap into all three wires at the plug.

Reverse camera instructions are perfect. Worked the first time. Thanks for posting.

Thank you!! Don't think I could've hooked up my factory back up camera without your video.

I think you did ever properly, the trick is you need to add to additional pins to the adapter harness pins 19&18. 19=power18=gnd. Then the two wires connect to the stereo harness to the two canbus wires usually marked key1&key2. Then the other brown to gnd. The subwoofer adapter needs the remote wire the comes from where the RCA sub line comes from the deck. The white RCA I believe is all I need for audio to the factory amp and subs. Excellent suggestions on the rearview mirror and GPS module. I will be using that trick. I highly suggest the XTRONS TE706PL ANDROID 8.0 Headunit I'm blown away for how beautiful everything is. Operating system interface and general quality. I paid $357, so $457 after shipping it was here in 1 week 5 stars

FYI, the 04-08 f150's do come with the sub on some Lariats. My o4 didn't, but my dad's 05 did. My probably would have but it was an early model on the new body style.

Kind of glad I found this video. My 2008 Ford F-150 fx2 has the factory subwoofer and amplifier and the back up camera. Had to do the resister on the sub of course.
But I just tried this to get the rear view camera to the head unit. The stock monitor in the mirror went all crazy on the picture and still didn’t get any picture on the head unit. Beyond frustrated. The screen in the rear view mirror is so small. With bad eye sight. It’s impossible to see.
Have no clue what to do??

Why didn’t you just tap into the reverse lights at the fuse panel next to the passenger foot well? Considerably more accessible.

you said the box was for siriusXM? I have it on my 2008 f150 xlt extended cab. I swore it was an external amplifier. also the unit that was in my truck did not have controls for Sirius unless it was considered fm2 channel but I doubt it.

So close, yet so far. I have a 2012, the camera displays in the head unit instead of the mirror and the wires from the camera are in it's own plug. I cannot believe no one makes a stupid harness for it! ANyway, for those who have the video feed in the navigation itself, there is a plug with three wires, white/green, brown/violet, and black. White/green is camera +, Brown/violet camera -, black is shield. Tap these to an RCA and you should have a working camera. Connect the shield to ground if the display is out of whack.

Thank you for the video. Question. Where did you get your Side Under Mirror Puddle Light leds?

Would there be any issues splicing the video + and - as far as signal issues?
I have the same wiring shown in this vid with my truck 08 f150 King Ranch with the Mirror cam.
Putting the truck in reverse the aftermarket head unit flips to the cam but flickers terribly. I have tested the head unit with another video source and it's clear.
Currently have the video in the mirror but would like it on the new head unit as well. Not sure on what is causing the flickering issue.

dan nordmann it has interference. You'll notice an aluminum foil covering the wires. This prevents the interference. Be sure to wrap each wire individually. You can buy aluminum tape at your auto parts store.

Great video. Something significantly different w/ the 2009 F150 other than the component layout?

Is there a site where you get this info. I'm trying to connect my NEX 4100 to my 07 Altima's backup camera but I don't know the wires. The car came stock with Bose audio and navigation. Any assistance is appreciated

Do you know what that middle connection is? I bought a JVC head unit for my 08 F-150 and the wiring harness doesn't seem to have connections to it. I don't want to screw up the install.

Do you have to disconnect wires for mirror if you move camera to radio or can you have both.

Do you know if the oem backup camera wires are the same color codes for a 2012 F150?

    • @Whuckfisle
      @Whuckfisle  8 лет назад

unfortunately I don't. Ford changed up the f150 quite a bit in 09 so I doubt everything is the same. Easy check would be to take out backup light bulb and see what color the wire is going to it. If it's green w/ yellow then the rest may be the same
