My way of changing colors/adding the next ball of yarn is to stitch over the beginning of the start of next ball. It becomes part of the project and you don't see the knot. It's hidden in your work...Just a little tip for you try... Love you Crystal!!

So I put a knot in both strands and pull together and cut strings works great
I didn’t have that yarn so I used 3 strands of bernat velvet. Not as big or puffy as this one but turned out good anyhow 😎. Now I’ll find mine

That yarn looks like newly fallen snow and it even sounds like fluffy snow crunching and compacting as you walk on it.
I use the magic knot technique for joining and I love it! You can cut the ends of the yarn super super close to the knot and it won't come undone.
