In a comment under another video @Iofflight78 mentioned that the Roland JV-1080 hardware sampler/rompler from 1994 might be a good it for me and my music. And boy, were they right! This is the first track I made with the synth. Basically just checking out some of the presets on this box. Creating a dark, moody, leaning towards epic piece of music. Well, striving to be epic. You can be the judge on whether or not I achieved that. Anyway, more to come on this lovely little vintage machine soon!
So beautiful!!
Thank you SenorTropiCat! Happy to hear you liked it. Excellent user name, btw!
@ thank you! It’s my artist name for my tropical synthpop music :)
Sounds really great….Your creativity and talent really make this maligned old box sing.✌️
@@asynchronicity Thanks Asynchronicity! That is a very lovely compliment to hear. It isn't a very intuitive synth, no. But I do think it does sound fantastic!
Congratulations! Classic sounds found in many movie soundtracks (mainly from the '90s).
Thanks DrKunz! Yes, there are quite a few sounds that I recognize in this box. It's funny, a lot of my favorite soundtracks from video games from the modern era have been made using romplers. They still sound futuristic to me. Sometimes you can hear the exact preset. Sometimes you need to do a bit of sonic archeology to uncover the sounds. But it's undeniable how many of these sound have become part of the culture and zeitgeist of the 90s and early 2000s.
Loved the video, felt like the kind of dreams you have when halfway between sleep and being awake. Sounds better than the System 8 unironically. Keen to see if you can work it into one of your usual jams.
Thanks mate! I'm very happy to hear that. And yes, the JV-1080 blows the System-8 out of the water. But I think it would give many a traditional (virtual) analog poly a run for their money. Samples are incredibly powerful.
As for incorporating it into my usual jams, I'm curious about that as well. Hope to get around to that this week. Thanks again my friend!
Muy bueno!!
Muchas gracias Mauricio!
I see you are getting on with your JV1080 :) and you are welcome... (actually the name starts with an I not an L. It's short for Instruments of Flight but no matter I'm just glad you are happy with it). If you can source the vintage card and the orchestral card they are worth it. I have the vintage card in the JD990 and the Techno, orchestral, keys of the 60s and 70s and House cards in the 1080.
