I have been here for six years and your pros and cons are spot on. You did however forget to mention the hail. Screw the tornadoes, but the large hail will absolutely destroy ones house and/or vehicle. I have experienced softball size stones which actually broke through the decking on the roof. Quarter size and golf ball size hail is considered commonplace. The humidity is not a factor when compared to cities along the Gulf. What is disconcerting are the ultra dry cold air masses from the North during the winter months. Very dry skin and eczema will run their course during these times, but with a little experimentation are easily treatable.

In the early 90's a storm came through with softball sized hail. It destroyed the whole north side of my grandpas house and went right through all the windows ricocheting massive hail stones all over any room they could get into tearing everything up. Eventually the beating caused the 2nd floor roof to collapse giving the hail a direct path down the stairway into the kitchen and living room. Oh and all of his cars, completely destroyed. Might have been the tornado that hit andover in 91, i could be wrong though

@@waylonmercy8125 I've heard there is a place in the northern US where white supremacist groups are setting up a community of like-minded individuals who also delude themselves that they are superior to others. That might be a place for you to check out. I think it was the northern part of the Michigan peninsula, but since white supremacists make me vomit a little in my mouth, you'll need to verify that on your own. What I mostly remember about discovering this information is that it's a place I want to avoid at all costs, so I didn't stick around to inquire about the particulars, I got away from their malignant narcissism as quickly as I could.
If such a community exists, I can almost guarantee you that everyone will speak English there, but you'll also be surrounded by a level of developmentally arrested psychopathology that is so toxic that few psychologically healthy people would be able to tolerate it, much less co-exist with it.

Hello I wanted to say thank you for this video I live in Wichita and have been living here for the most part since 1976 when my father got transferred to McConnell Air Force Base I do want to say that your pros and cons were pretty much straight on straight up that's the way it is I do personally do kind of like the laid back lifestyle cuz I have lived in other cities and that did not have that I lived in New Jersey for 18 months and believe me the east coast is 180° difference as far as the tornadoes every time I tell somebody I'm from Kansas they go oh you guys have all those tornadoes or they'll say something about The wizard of Oz but my answer to them about the tornadoes is yep they we have tornadoes in Kansas I'm actually we average 96 tornadoes every year 95 of them are out in the middle of nowhere and last less than a minute while that one actually hits a town be it either a small town or they wipe out a whole town like Greensburg and yes Wichita has had some I was a paramedic for 20 years in this town and I worked both the haysville tornado that went from haysville to South Wichita and then lifted up and around Harry Street and 135 and out to work the Andover tornado that went from south of hayesville across the very west side of haysville through some neighborhoods through McConnell Air Force Base and then through East Wichita Pawnee and Rock road area then going north east from there it finally hit and over with as a major EF5 tornado that's what it was called at the time we didn't have the EF5 yet. And as far as attractions I agree with you 100%. I have been saying for so many years that we need to get at least like a major amusement Park and recreation area due to the fact that we have two major interstates running through Wichita i-135 goes all the way from Minnesota all the way down to South Texas and 35 the turnpike goes through Wichita via Oklahoma and terminates in Kansas City where it hooks up with i-70 so we have major access two Nation wide traffic but yet we don't do anything to try and get things here including sports teams yeah I would love to see a professional football team I still would love the cheese regardless but the city itself could not support a major sports team I think the hockey team is the biggest team that we have here we were going to have AAA baseball but it turned into double a ball so anyway again thank you for this video

@samuel kamue I generally speed up most of the videos I watch on RUclips to at least 1.25 if not faster, but I never post comments telling the person making the video because I recognize that the world does not revolve around me, and I don't expect RUclipsrs to make their videos according to my preferences. It's their channel, their content, and I know I can start my own channel if I want content made to my own personal, subjective preferences.
Instead, I recognize that the world doesn't revolve around me and how quickly...or not....I can absorb and assimilate information, I adjust the speed manually to my subjective preference at any given moment, and I understand (and accept) that I cannot control others, and most especially internet strangers.

People who grow up in Wichita don’t know how bad it is in other cities, so they have to go discover that themselves. After running that process, they often return back here. The dating scene has always been bleak here. Any young man would do well to find a wife somewhere else and then bring her here. You can’t overstate the affordability of good housing here, compared to the rest of the country. The coastal states are just insanely overpriced. Eventually, young couples will want their own home, that’s when Wichita enters the game.👍

I was born and raised in Wichita and your pros/cons are spot on. I love my city but I did graduate high school, go to college and experience life outside of Wichita so I moved away. I only went 5 hours to Dallas so that I can travel by car whenever I want to see my family. Two great things I love are all of the mom and pop, hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Wichita has some of the best food that aren't chains. I also LOVE Christmas there! Although it is a big city, by Kansas standards, you get that small, home town feeling at Christmas. My children were born and raised in Texas but they absolutely love visiting Wichita. The people are so nice and we actually speak to each other in passing, unlike Texas. It has its downsides like everywhere else but overall a good city.

"Major attractions* bring with them crowd control issues, violence, crime, obnoxious drunk people, etc.. Wichita is not Kansas City, Austin, St. Louis...that's why most of the people who enjoy living here don't want it to become one of those communities. I'm not sure we can't just let it be Wichita.

I'm setting my sights on Wichita, or the outskirts; I would prefer more
rural, with a well, a little land. My niece and her family live in
Wichita, so I want to be closer to them; I'm currently living in NY
state (not NYC). I like your presentation, especially when it comes to societal values. Very important to me.

@@seanbryant2848 If you want to be close to family but get some land with well- Rose Hill, Douglas, Mulvane or even ElDorado you’ll be better off. We live in Derby just south of ICT with well but no extra land there anymore.

It's not as bad as Western Kansas, especially in the city where there are lots of trees.

Wichita is in a heat bubble? Could you elaborate on that more? I'm interested.

The city has a slightly higher temperature because of all the People, commotion, etc. enough to move storms away from the city when they roll through.

Hail is somewhat of a factor, Crime is comparable to any other major metro city that's it's spotty depending on where you live within the metro
