For people coming here for the first time I want to recommend two food places one is called El Mexico cafe it is amazing food for a good price with large portions and free chips and salsa. And the other is a small little burger shack on the north side of town where you can get whole burgers for a dollar great taste and amazing experience.

El Mexico Cafe is a really good place, was one of my mom's favorites. Bomber Burger down off of 47th and K-15 is a must hit for anyone visiting/passing through. Small little hole in the wall shack with some of the best burgers I've ever had.

    • @le_th_
      @le_th_ 2 года назад +2

Road rage isn't something that time causes, but is generally a symptom of people with characterological disorders (that is not mental illness....it's disordered moral character aka a character disorder or traits of a character disorder).
Narcissists, Sociopaths, Psychopaths and Borderline Personalities tend to be the individuals who, when they feel stressed, instead of coping with it like an adult will default into INSTANT RAGE that is so far beyond anything close to what any basic, decent human being would consider appropriate (to whatever the situation is at the time).
Some of these individuals can "appear" to be the pillars of the community who pretend to be "good" people but are anything BUT that deep down inside (especially when they believe no one they admire is looking), to adrenaline junkies, to violent criminals, or even white-collar criminals who only commit financial crimes.
Rarely do decent human beings experience enough life stressors in a row (meaning a series of truly stressful life events) to be able to muster up enough rage within them to have a road-rage-type melt down.
People who default to instant and wild overreactions are almost always people with character disorders. Most of us simply are incapable of escalating to rage, much less the inner contempt for others to be able to even feel rage (although we can feel anger and...given enough time and multiple stressors...overt anger).
True rage is something that those with characterological disorders (aka personality disorders) feel on the regular...sometimes the tiniest perceived slight will incite rage within them. I wish I were kidding about this.

I gotta couple of friends of mine that are going to move there in a couple of months. They love the area big city with a small town attitude. This seems like a good place to move to. I grew up in a small town in Idaho where people knew each other and the cost of living was decent. However in the last 5 to 10 years things have been changing in Idaho and not for the better in my opinion. We got a lot of people moving here for California, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada. Along with people from the eastern part of the U.S. New York, New Jersey Maryland even Florida. As well as Virginia. And that's let to an Increase in traffic, cost of living has skyrocketed along with the cost of fuel. One example is renting an apartment. 10 years renting used to cost 600.00 per month on average. Now that same apartment will set you back 1,800 dollars.😳😳😱😱. Even the crappy ones will cost you 1,000 dollars private ownership has risen farm land had been bought up to build houses etc. It's gotten out of control to the point you have to make on average 24 dollars an hour just to live comfortably in Idaho. So next year I'm hoping to move out there as well.
I love cities with a slow pace attitude the people there tend to be happier easier to talk to and easier to get along with.

When you're ready to leave a huge city, Wichita is great. Everything a city has like Whole Foods/Trader Joes, high quality restaurants, but a small-town feel. I am a SoCal transplant and love it here, the storms/skies, prairie, friendly people, way less craziness and traffic, low housing costs, can't say enough good things. Nice to get rain in the spring/summer to cool things down, can be pretty hot/humid in the summer, the changes are really fun. I hang out with the Anabaptist folks in the country. Winters aren't terrible. Great local arts/culture/food scene, good beer/coffee, locals are very supportive. Bad restaurants can be really bad, lotta chains, hard to find healthy food as easily, food here is pretty heavy. Not too exciting, the town shuts down a little early, definitely a bad place to be single, but you can find a good partner at a church. Sports/consumerism ruins a city, makes it too superficial, enjoy your local homegrown activities instead. Save your money living here and you can travel frequently. HMU if you have any questions I can answer from a recent transplants perspective.

I am currently living near Indian computer engineering students. Ever since they moved in I have been having issues with my Wifi and computer network being hacked. Besides that, they like to save money and so they will fit about 4 people in a one bedroom apartment. Which causes excessive noise at all hours. Additionally they like having phone conversations outside which usually tends to be in front of other tenants apartments which can cause a disturbance. When they use the laundry room they leave the clothes in the machines over night and do not clean up after themselves once they are done. Additionally, They are not very clean in general. Once a cat must have taken a dump near their front door and they never cleaned it up. This attacted flies in my home. It was a mess.

The Jobs are mainly in manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture and other "blue collar" type of roles where it's hard work but you can make a decent living compared to the cost of living and amount of time you will have inside and outside of work

Just want to add this; If you are Catholic, Wichita is one of the best places to raise a family. The Wichita diocese has a tithing system that makes the private Catholic schools affordable. I went to Catholic schools all my life and saw people from very financially challenged households, people from very wealthy households, and foreign exchange students due to the impressive high schools. The kids all mingle well and don’t form stereotypical cliques despite very different social classes and lifestyles. There are lots of grade schools but two main Catholic high schools which are both very good schools when it comes to education and community.

The ability to get ahead in life from a cost of living and private education standpoint in Wichita is unmatched in the country and why so many choose to raise a family here. It's great for that and I appreciate you making this comment to point out that fact :)

But if you ever lived where the traffic sucks, like the Metroplex ( Dallas/Fort Worth) you would appreciate Wichita. But that is not a reason to move to Wichita just because of a easy commute, a reason to commute might be more of a challenge, goes back to Wichita being by-passed by any true interstate highway.

Housing is CRAZY low? Maybe in the suburbs or the ghetto... Unless you wanna live in one of the 5,000 apartment complexes.
Job stability, yeah, if you DON'T work in the aircraft industry!

Compared to other cities, it's crazy low for pricing, although that is starting to rise

Problem is that all new constructions are 6+ room mansions upwards of $400k. Continue smashing the middle class!

I lived in Wichita for 12 years. I felt that Kansas was America's best kept secret. Now you are letting the cat out of the bag and telling everyone about it. Thanks to you, everyone will want to move to Wichita and it will become just another pathetic sick big city.

Thanks for the flattery Robert but I don’t think Im that big of a resource to create that kind of change in Wichita, our culture is too strong for us to turn into a mega city like you’re referring to, which is why it makes for the best of both worlds for people looking for peace :) and not the chaos & rot of a mega city

I see some comments about the Ghetto, Wichita Kansas has no Real ghetto area's.Visit other real cities and then you will see what a real ghetto area is.Wichita Kansas is a really slow paced town That's stuck in the 1800's. The cost of living is the only thing that's good compared to other places.

Ehh, we have South Broadway, Planeview, and Hilltop. They're similar to bigger cities ghettos, but nowhere as dangerous. Just heavily neglected and dilapidated areas of town full of meth heads. Nothing is great or horrible in Wichita. It's just a little dingle berry stuck to the map.
