While Kansas may not be on your destination radar, it has a lot more to offer than you probably realize. We had the pleasure of exploring the state's largest city, Wichita, for a day, and truly enjoyed ourselves. From the delicious food to the beautiful art and history museums to taking part in America’s favorite pastime, we won’t be forgetting our time in Wichita anytime soon!

We’re Matt and Nat, a part time travel couple based out of Nashville, TN. Like everyone else, 2020 turned our world upside down. With more time on our hands than ever and multiple international trips canceled, we were left wondering what our 2021 travel plans would look like.

It’s so weird seeing someone explore my city. It looks so pretty from someone else’s point of view. Wish you could have seen more.

The zoo is easily the best part of Wichita, weirdly enough one of the best in the country…
A wonderful alternative to Sedwick Country Zoo is the Tanganyika Zoo. We love how much more interactive it is!

YAY Wichita!!! I moved here in 1987 when I graduated from UMass, because my parents had moved here while I was in college so my mom could teach at the university - nice try mom and dad, I found you!! I think for at least 10 years I complained about no mountains and no ocean. Then I grew up and realized this is the best spot on earth. We have all the fun stuff big cities have and none of the bad stuff like traffic (I get crabby when I have to sit through 2 red lights during "rush hour") and a high cost of living. I wouldn't live anywhere else but here. Of course my son moved to Dallas the second he graduated from college, but clearly I'm a good detective. I found my parents, I can find him too!!!

Exploration place was always a fun time, even if we went every year on school trips, my birthday, keep the child occupied day, thinking about it starting to think I lived there. 🤣
The Sedgwick County Zoo is so underrated would definitely check it out. One of the best zoo's in the U.S.!

Thanks for visiting my city! With the world crashing down all around us I just feel thankful that my town has kept pretty normal so far. I think people here for the most part love America and want to preserve its roots. You can feel it by just visiting here. I have a friend that moved to Smyrna TN and she said the locals don't like people from Kansas and treat her kind of bad because of it. Well, you guys are welcome here in Kansas anytime. I like seeing people take interest into the town I was born in and plan to stay till I die. There are always people that think the grass is greener on the other side, but I beg the differ. lol Good luck on your journey and be safe!

Im watching videos about kansas because I just came back from there and I Loved it. It was the prettiest place Ive ever been and cant wait to go back in the summer. Cant wait to see the sunflowers and wildflowers along with the thriving crops.
Went to Dodge City on the trip and I loved that. Somethings were closed off season.

And I’ve heard the zoo in Omaha, NE is better than the one in Kansas City, MO, but you’re right, other than those two things, I’m out of ideas for Nebraska or Iowa!! 😂

Born and raised in Wichita , love this city , yes it has crime and homelessness but every major city does but on the other hand most people are pretty friendly and welcoming , Im proud to call Wichita my home , places to visit the Zoo, Exploration place, and tons of great places to eat

Wichita is actually a test kitchen city. So many places will try their menu items here first. Also the birth place of Pizza Hut and White Castle.
We are actually from wichita, we did #vanlife before the pandemic in our 1996 Ford honorbuilt Eldorado class b campervan built in our home state of Kansas, our goal before the pandemic was to travel the rest of the lower 48 and take the fairy to Alaska from Washington ..Next goal is to drive our van from wichita to Panama 🇵🇦 and ship it to Cartagena Colombia.

I live a very short drive away from Wichita and love seeing someone visit! Cow Town has had such a core place in my heart and I love seeing someone so excited to go see it. The Art museum is my favorite place to go. The history behind the art is absolutely amazing. Thank you for visiting!

Thanks for highlighting Wichita, not too many people are willing to scope out the city. I do find one point lacking. Wichita is the home of a major business, famous in the Bar-B-Que industry, All Things Bar-B-Que in the Delano district. A place that is needed to be seen.

I lived in Wichita for 2 years and he’s right about the BBQ. The best. I have it shipped from Jack Stacks in Kansas City. In Wichita itself ,I would Recommend going to Bite Me BBQ on N Saint Francis. That was my go to after work! You have to have the burnt ends!!! Delish. 😊👍🏻🥰

The guy in the red who spoke before the gun fight goes to my home church in a town 30 minutes north of Wichita! The Nifty Nut House is a Christmas staple in my childhood home. Delano is one of my fav districts with the Windsurge and the Monarch restaurant. So happy to see the closest big city to me to get the recognition it deserves!
