      zoygas I have 2x 980ti and 1x titan XP running displays (extra vram helps out since its used by maya and display, windows etc so it evens out a bit more.) even with 2x 980ti or 1070 you get great results. my test scene island animation was made with only 2x 980ti.

      I actually havnt used the SouP MASH node, I do know that it allows it to connect to the plugin SouP which is a great powerful set of nodes for Maya you can download for free.

    I run a test render only the original proxy is rendered correctly but other are boxes. What did I do wrong?

      I knew it, I didn't change it to instancer.

    Hi! I have a question, why is it that when I export proxies, it removes its shaders and decimates the.mesh? How do I solve that

      That doesn't sound right, it should export the materials and the selected tesselation/displacement on the object. Something is going wrong in your export.

    I'm getting pretty massive render times using this method over only 1000 instances of simple (less than 100 poly) geometry. The big hit to the render time seems to be a phase called "preparing ray trace hierarchy for meshes". Is there anything I should be looking at tweaking to troubleshoot this problem that you can think of? Thanks for your time, and great video!

      I am using sprite nodes on the proxies the way you taught them in the previous vid, if that helps at all. Thanks again!

      Make sure your actually using.instances, what your describing typically only happens when it's tons of unique meshes not actual instances.

    Awesome, how can you "Create" a Redshift Proxy from Houdini??

      German Escamilla select the object.then under the redshift ROP node there is an option to render out the selected asset as a proxy. Then to import make sure your object has RS object properties and under the proxy tab you point it to the file.

    hey bro...great tutorial!! i followed each step but Redshift isn't rendering the distributed tree's,...any idea's? i got the Redshift 2.0.79 Maya 2017 ...thanks in advance!!

      Mohammed Al-Sheikh that version had a mash instancing bug, update redshift

      oh...i was hoping that wont be it.......you did mention something about a bug in a later version, oh well!! i'll just go with the old fashion way than...thanks ..cheers!!

      this is the only version with distancing bugs. a lot has changed since 2.0.79 is months behind and it updates weekly. latest is 2.5.13

      well...i only just started with Redshift a few says ago with a 2.079 cracked version that i found online but im liking it so far , way better, faster and cleaner results and saving up for the licence...but is the demo version redshift_v2.0.93_demo_setup...??

      ARMAAN MALIK what do you mean? The proxy file is an external file you saved somewhere to your drive.

    So I'm having a bit of trouble with this. Instancing more than 10,000 trees will totally break my renderer. It'll stay at 0% preparing scene forever, and then when I close the IPR the script editor tells me "redshift failed to recover from a fatal error" with all the stuff about restarting maya. My scene definitely requires more than 10,000 trees so is there a way to fix it? My setup is pretty decent. Ryzen 3700x, 1080 ti, and 32gb ram.

      This also happens when I'm not using the IPR as well :-(

      Pretty sure it’s because your not actually instancing them, make sure your not using Repro mode and are actually in instance mode.

      @@TheArtofSaul Like, when you enable the instancer instead of the mesh under the MASH network creation options? I've done that.

    Thx for the Tuto, I follow everything proxy renders fine but I have a huge problem, as soon as I inject the proxy into MASH it doesnt renders anymore -_-

      Because there are 2 MASH modes, default is repro which makes unique geometry, you need instancer mode for instances or proxies to work.

    Hey, for some reason my Maya crashes when i start the render? Any idea why? It works fine when rendering the 3 trees i have but when i try rendering out the version with 25000 it just crashes

      CalvinsOfficial If your using version 2.0.79 it has a bug that crashes Maya using MASH. Update to a newer version.

      Saul Espinosa of redshift? I'll check when I'm home. thanks for the heads up though. do you think it could have to do with memory by chance? I didn't setup any memory like shown in the tutorial for the final render...

      CalvinsOfficial its not the vram unless your using a really old gpu with 2gb or less vram. That said its more likely your version of Reeshift specifically 2.0.79 that has a bug with MASH and instancing.

      turns out i hat version 2.0.7 - updating now to 2.0.85
