Having your back foot over the fins is also important. In both examples, that girl is standing in the middle of the board. Shes trimming but not really turning.
In the video, the girl have not enough speed. That's why she struggles. She should put more rail to go up the wave, and gain speed to make a nice bottom turn. Isn't it?
Yes your right Daniel. The waving of the arms just stopped her keeping the board on rail and as you say she should start to use the power of the wave. The bottom turn is key to all. She was really in her early days of surfing out the back. So after some days of coaching as you can see in the second clip in the video she controlled the upper body and spent more time on the rail. yes at her level she not dropping the back foot back yet and limiting her turns for sure. Your right ..its a vital skill to learn
