      I agree. Just started my surfing journey and these vids are very useful. I was sorry to hear that Tim died recently, but his legacy lives on.

    Great videos. Thanks.
    Oh, it's called 'potential energy' at the top which coverts to 'kinetic energy' as we move down the wave and increase our velocity - which is what you so ably showed.

      @@SurfInsight Hi, thank you very much. I understand about RUclips, it happens to me too. Yes, people from abroad enjoy different kinds of waves from different beaches of the coast of Peru for surf. Lately I watch a review about the Inkas who carried customes to the Polynesian islands where surf begun. There was a movie called Kon Tiki which resembles the rustic navy that used to be carried to Polynesia. Have a nice day ! 🦙

    I was wondering for a funboard or longboard, what should the foot placement be like for turns? Should you have your back foot over your fins (assuming thruster fin setup) or should your back foot be in front of your fins?

    • @SurfInsight
      @SurfInsight  3 года назад +1

      Hi Chris. Thanks for that and as a general rule on any board all your best turns will come form the feet being over the fin set up. We can get turns with the foot forward but never the bigger turns like cut backs or big bottom turns . Putting a foot patch ( you might have one ) on the board is a good reminder to drop the foot back when possible to the very best place ...

    • @SurfInsight

      yes there is . buried in the vids somewhere is footage of Yeala's jump up on a wave .. when I get a mo I will dig it out .. but its there . She's often coming up to high especially on the back hand but is aware of that .. a super great person to coach

    Hi, when I try to accelerate (pump up the wave) for speed is it the same theory as this?
    or as i am on the wave do i have to life my board with my back feet and drag or slide the board up the wave?

    • @sehz1789
      @sehz1789 7 лет назад +1

      are we kind of jumping (or unweighing body weight) on the surfboard to make it go up the wave?
      thanks your video helped a lot. learning on my own

    • @SurfInsight
      @SurfInsight  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Wes .. I will answer both you posts. Glad the video's are helpful . Firstly dont think of any unweighting to get up the wave face . and certainly no " jumping " action. The really force is just compression of the the legs but more importantly is the vision and rotation of the upper body that then leads through the torso , into the legs and lets the board turn .. dont forget .. where you look is where you go.

    Hi! what is inside rail and outside rail? Thank you

    • @SurfInsight
      @SurfInsight  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Dario. The inside rail is the rail next to the wave and the outside rail ( to be basic ) the one parallel ( at times ) to the land . The inside and outside rails are engaged at different time in various manoeuvres. We hope you get to join us sometime at www.surfschoolsrilanka.com/ or www.surfschoolanzarote.com/
