The key is finding a good contractor who cares and understands. I did it for years as a ground driver but I don't miss those chewy boxes and Wayfair furniture
That makes a huge difference! When your contractor understands that you’re human and not just a number, it makes the job a lot more tolerable! Also I think chewy has to be the most hated company for delivery drivers 🤣 wayfair is a very close second for me! I come in everyday mentally prepared for a huge sectional to be on my truck!
the one thing i've done thats helped me out a lot. is even if the SID sticker is on the box I still write the sid number Big on the box. But I show up 15 mins early which allows me to help the package handler and writing it big like that means I don't have to worry about if the sticker falls off and I can just glance and see exactly which package im looking for even if they fall off the shelf.

Exactly! This is what I do too. Every second counts. Squinting to read small print on the labels can be a waste of time when you have 200+ packages to deliver

Brother I'm in the process of being hired. Took my drug test. Here in so cal. If they hire me im DEFINITELY gonna do this. And use a marker if possible. Yea u got it g I never used a marker I had people try to tell me to do that but u do what works for u u must understand that never take in all the information because u then will overload the brain which will lead to overthinking so again use what u think is helpful me personally come in early just to move my stickers in the right place before dispatch it’s a game changer

Take my drug test today! Recently stopped smoking about 3-4 weeks ago. Failed a couple months back and they called me back. I want this so much! Use to drive for Amazon so I’m familiar but was told fed ex was better.

Thanks for the video Scottie!! I'm a FedEx courier in Canada and with Ground and Express coming together, it's been quite an adjustment!! We have designated couriers for very heavy bulk deliveries and now the CTL in the station are trying to get the regular couriers to deliver heavy bulk that requires two people to lift the packages. Need a union!!

My fourth day will be Monday but I transitioned from package handler so I’m not bothered by the freight. I’ve driven a little and backed in the terminal once so far. I’m liking it honestly I can’t wait a month down the road
I see I am not alone in the stress world. Nice video, good work! Just started with Ground and totally stressing the organization of boxes and getting everything to the right locations or pick-ups on time.
You’re most definitely not alone brother. Thank you for checking out my video, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Be encouraged, don’t stress about it. Experiment with loading the packages, switch up how you load them to see which way gets the job done most efficiently. The same goes for pick ups. I like to go get my picks as soon as the window opens, and for the ones that close later, I go get them when I’m done with the route. It’s all about experience. We all have to find what works and doesn’t work for us. Don’t be afraid to fail. When I started on this new downtown route, it got the best of me! I brought back SO MANY packages! But now that I’ve failed and kept trying, it takes me no time to knock out this route. Just focus on doing what you can and doing the very best you can brother. it’s funny, my name is Anthony too nd i think lathrop is close to me, i be out of tracy but today was my first day driving and yea it was heavy 162 stops but im glad i conquered the day nonetheless. yes i was a bit heated 😅when i got out later than my training days but its cool since this was all me and i get paid for the day not by the hour so i tried my best. only way is up when you at the bottom 👍

I gotta agree as a driver myself. I do a bulk route during the weekdays n run a home route on Saturday. But on that home route, those sid number being visible are top priority. Plus I don’t go to a stop before I find the package. I also keep a few bungie cords in my trucks to help keep packages from falling off the shelves. Keep cheap dog treats as well for the dogs on the home routes. Helps with them being friendly towards you
I’ve never thought about using bungee cords, I may have to try that one day. The dog treats are a good idea too. I don’t really encounter dogs on my route, but they can be helpful for those that do! I greatly appreciate you checking out my content! Stay safe out there!

Worked one day so far as a Package Handler in Greenville, SC... (I think they said we were under-staffed that day)... May just be because I am new, but it was pretty tough, used muscles I haven't used in a while, lol... And, the packages just keep coming even as drivers were leaving, lol. I felt so lost at the end of the shift. Has to be a better way to scan the packages and put them on the trucks than 1 at a time. I tried to get those stickers on the outside for the drivers, but man, it's tough to get all of them, at least when you're new. Good video, thanks :)

You get to learn how to learn tricks, and you have access to drivers who can help with any questions you may have. Being a driver is not easy but it’s simple. You and I set up our trucks the same way by making sure all the vision labels are facing out and playing Tetris with our boxes using up all the spaces on the shelves and floors. Yeah I agree that having a positive attitude about your day, your work and with everyone you encounter goes a long way. Around my first Christmas period last year, I got tipped a few times just for helping to bring heavy boxes inside the house and I know we’re not supposed to but I’m willing to help them out if they’re elderly.

The key is finding a good contractor who cares and understands. I did it for years as a ground driver but I don't miss those chewy boxes and Wayfair furniture
That makes a huge difference! When your contractor understands that you’re human and not just a number, it makes the job a lot more tolerable! Also I think chewy has to be the most hated company for delivery drivers 🤣 wayfair is a very close second for me! I come in everyday mentally prepared for a huge sectional to be on my truck!

the one thing i've done thats helped me out a lot. is even if the SID sticker is on the box I still write the sid number Big on the box. But I show up 15 mins early which allows me to help the package handler and writing it big like that means I don't have to worry about if the sticker falls off and I can just glance and see exactly which package im looking for even if they fall off the shelf.

Yea u got it g I never used a marker I had people try to tell me to do that but u do what works for u u must understand that never take in all the information because u then will overload the brain which will lead to overthinking so again use what u think is helpful me personally come in early just to move my stickers in the right place before dispatch it’s a game changer

Thanks for the video Scottie!! I'm a FedEx courier in Canada and with Ground and Express coming together, it's been quite an adjustment!! We have designated couriers for very heavy bulk deliveries and now the CTL in the station are trying to get the regular couriers to deliver heavy bulk that requires two people to lift the packages. Need a union!!

My fourth day will be Monday but I transitioned from package handler so I’m not bothered by the freight. I’ve driven a little and backed in the terminal once so far. I’m liking it honestly I can’t wait a month down the road

I see I am not alone in the stress world. Nice video, good work! Just started with Ground and totally stressing the organization of boxes and getting everything to the right locations or pick-ups on time.
You’re most definitely not alone brother. Thank you for checking out my video, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Be encouraged, don’t stress about it. Experiment with loading the packages, switch up how you load them to see which way gets the job done most efficiently. The same goes for pick ups. I like to go get my picks as soon as the window opens, and for the ones that close later, I go get them when I’m done with the route. It’s all about experience. We all have to find what works and doesn’t work for us. Don’t be afraid to fail. When I started on this new downtown route, it got the best of me! I brought back SO MANY packages! But now that I’ve failed and kept trying, it takes me no time to knock out this route. Just focus on doing what you can and doing the very best you can brother. We can’t control anything else outside of that! Peace and blessings to you!
it’s funny, my name is Anthony too nd i think lathrop is close to me, i be out of tracy but today was my first day driving and yea it was heavy 162 stops but im glad i conquered the day nonetheless. yes i was a bit heated 😅when i got out later than my training days but its cool since this was all me and i get paid for the day not by the hour so i tried my best. only way is up when you at the bottom 👍

Coding, parking to far from a door because the address is hard to see... lots of little things all rolled into one add to the stress. It's a good job for a guy like myself who likes the workout and having to think as well.
I gotta agree as a driver myself. I do a bulk route during the weekdays n run a home route on Saturday. But on that home route, those sid number being visible are top priority. Plus I don’t go to a stop before I find the package. I also keep a few bungie cords in my trucks to help keep packages from falling off the shelves. Keep cheap dog treats as well for the dogs on the home routes. Helps with them being friendly towards you
I’ve never thought about using bungee cords, I may have to try that one day. The dog treats are a good idea too. I don’t really encounter dogs on my route, but they can be helpful for those that do! I greatly appreciate you checking out my content! Stay safe out there!

I heard some drivers will take a marker and just write the stop number on the box too so its easier to find but I guess there's a few ways to do it.

Exactly! This is what I do. The print on the labels can be pretty small so I right the address big so I don't have to waste time squinting to read the label... every second counts
@@POVofanENFP Are the routes really that overloaded? In all the courier work I've done I've always worked at a fast pace because its just how I am but I never had to run my ass off just to keep up with anything, I always liked to stay a head though.

Worked one day so far as a Package Handler in Greenville, SC... (I think they said we were under-staffed that day)... May just be because I am new, but it was pretty tough, used muscles I haven't used in a while, lol... And, the packages just keep coming even as drivers were leaving, lol. I felt so lost at the end of the shift. Has to be a better way to scan the packages and put them on the trucks than 1 at a time. I tried to get those stickers on the outside for the drivers, but man, it's tough to get all of them, at least when you're new. Good video, thanks :)

@@GilFavor101 something is coming most definitely. Drivers are quitting like crazy, contractors losing contracts; I wouldn’t be surprised if Amazon came and put them out their misery.

Congratulations on your new job! Being a package handler first will help out a lot before becoming a driver. You get to learn how to learn tricks, and you have access to drivers who can help with any questions you may have. Being a driver is not easy but it’s simple. Just bumped up on this video bro. Wow you in Florida too, I drive out of the Palmetto station and deliver in Bradenton six days a week. You and I set up our trucks the same way by making sure all the vision labels are facing out and playing Tetris with our boxes using up all the spaces on the shelves and floors. Yeah I agree that having a positive attitude about your day, your work and with everyone you encounter goes a long way. Around my first Christmas period last year, I got tipped a few times just for helping to bring heavy boxes inside the house and I know we’re not supposed to but I’m willing to help them out if they’re elderly.
