A lot of people got the ex-girlfriend part, but I think the game is also a critique on exploitive work culture. The bottom of the emergency exit has police tapes because it is a spot where workers unalive themselves by leaping from the 11th floor. This also explains why all the tired workers you met in the dream walk to the emergency exit instead of the elevator; they are people who have died in the past. The woman in red, the player's ex, also jumped after being cheated on and from the stressful work environment. The player's current wife is the same lady who got his number and bragged about how devilish she is. She did end up feeling some sort of guilt (while deflecting) based on that dialogue in the bathroom: "It's not my fault. Everything is her fault." In the dream security footage, she got chased down by the ex-gf ghost girl and killed, but that's not what happened in reality. They managed to make the relationship work and have a happy family. However, even he eventually jumped due to the stressful work, but instead of dying, he entered a coma in which the whole game takes place in. The good ending is where you remember who you're living for (your daughter and wife) and choosing to continue live. Whereas the bad ending is giving up on life by leaping from the 11th floor, mirroring what happened in reality. This is speculative, but I think the ghost isn't completely malicious to the player despite everything he did to her. I think she wants him to stop running away, so she doesn't even give him the option of dying. Taking the emergency exit will force him to relive the dream until he chooses to live instead of die. I love that chilla's art added so much nuance to the situation, but it is really confusing with so little information.

this is it. you absolutely cracked the code. ending 2 was the good ending and the elevator code (daughter's birthday) next to the drawing of the family was the player remembering the reason to live. at the end, i too believe the 3rd woman in the ending who is presumbaly the ex is not pure evil or anything like that. just as it said in the tape, she loves him, and her love goes beyond being hurt by him. the 3rd woman (ex) obviously holds an understandable grudge against the "real" wife, but even in death, her spirit watches over him, and in the incident of the player jumping, she still wished for his survival and through some spiritual medium in the dream was able to bring both a conclusion to the past for both of them as well as finding the reason to choose life rather than death. the story could be a whole novel... and the game was spectacular even without immediate understanding of the story. kinda wholesome in the end with a good 'moral of the story.' easily my new favorite chilla's art release!
I do think majority of this is correct, but the devilish girl wasn’t the wife because she lept off the fire escape and there was blood on the door, making her one of the victims in this place. I also think that he had an affair with the girl and cheated on his wife, making her the mistress. Or it could have been the other way around.
It’s like a 1408 situation, where he’s experiencing these people’s suicides and eventually leaps off as well, making him go into a coma and finally waking up, only to see the girl there as well.
I think it's better be not communicated because "it's just a dream" kills the interest for many.
Letting it to be open to interpretation so people takes a guess from work culture abuse to workplace power abuse to backstage services and partial revenge makes it more immersive due to the heavy social limitations Japan put themselves into.
We have to appreciate how Chilla Games makes mundane jobs and tasks terrifying.

She races into an emergency exit, and the camera cuts to black. An audible neck snapping or some other kind of bodily mutilation is heard. The light turns back on to reveal a trail of spattered blood on the emergency exit door. The camera cuts to black again for a few seconds, and then cuts to the 5th floor camera, where a tall, ghostly woman is standing motionless in the hallway. After a few seconds of nothing happening, Insym flips through the other cameras, and when he returns to the 5th floor camera (the floor that the player is currently on), the ghost is still there. The ghost is not there when the player steps into the hallway.

Hi , this will explain the story and endings ( thanks to another comment )
I’ve got to give Chilla props on this game-unlike many other of his titles, the ghost isn’t a real ghost; the monster is an apparition of his guilt with the woman our protagonist cheated on his wife with (the Lady in Red). The game is also simultaneously a commentary on work-life culture in Japan (evidenced by the multiple video tapes and interactions depicting harsh “power-harassers” and workloads), and how escaping or prioritizing family is seen as a failure of character. That’s why everyone who goes to the emergency exit dies, such as the two girls in the security cameras (the first of which we see eith our own eyes, the second of which is implied with the maid on 6F, who cleans the blood splatter from the second girl who tripped, the blood which smears all the way to the exit), and also yourself-the police tape around the stairs also implies other employees have been committing suicide by jumping from them, which is also supported by various characters who mention the death of overworked employees and their guilt with the incidents (eg. the woman in the stalls and the security cam notes). The only person who doesn’t exit via the stairs is the Lady in Red, who in a small detail, instead leaves via the elevator after she confronts you in the electrical room.
That’s why the good ending is you remembering your daughter’s birthday and escaping through the elevator rather than running to the stairs; the bad ending includes you rewinding and reliving the same day, over and over again (the Steam achievement has an infinity symbol ♾ as the badge.) As you could’ve guessed, the protagonist will never get away from the fact that he cheated on his wife, which is why the Lady in Red appears even in the good ending, behind his family-it’s also why there are mutiple instances of women talking about “deviously” seducing a security guard or trying to seduce out your contact information. The game is a story about remembering what’s important, but not forgetting what you did. Also, the Japanese text in the Hell floor says things like “bastard,” “cheater,” “worthless,” and “can’t escape,” which makes sense given that it’s in the same hallway as the Lady in Red jumpscaring you from the TV screen. The game focuses focuses on two themes, basically; work-life balance and cheating. This is a large departure from other Chilla’s games, which usually only have one central motif or throughline (ex. “The desire to rectify the past” in Missing Children, “The fear of being forgotten” in Stigmatized Property, or “The fear of what alienation can compel you to do” in Night Delivery). This was easily one of his most well-developed and brilliant games, and I hope he continues to make games like this in the future.
I thought the woman in red was his ex, whom he cheated on with his now-wife (the chick who bragged about seducing him to her coworker). Or did I get that wrong?
Wow, they really did a great job on this one. The pacing, the repetition and breaking it to make you feel uncomfortable... So much goodness packed into such a small game.

Chilas is creeping up on Silent Hill levels of horror. The puzzles, the level design, the audio design...they've been niche and cult, but these are about to hit mainsteam horror crowds. ESPECIALLY this game. This is absolutely a peak for them. So impressed with this game.
The most unrealistic part of this game is security using the elevator. When I worked security we had to use the stairs because if the elevator should happen to break down with us in it then we'd be pretty screwed. I would generally just go to the top floor and then work my way back down to the security desk in the lobby so I got the annoying hard part out of the way first.
I’m curious,, do you work alone or with a partner while you’re doing all the chores on night time?
@@yuugii8533 I just left the job actually. But when I was doing it, it was by myself. The only thing that ever happened that caused me a bit of a scare was when the elevator just randomly opened behind me while I was at the security desk and knew nobody was there.
Elevators sometimes will reset themselves to their default position. Still made me jump a bit.
@@BurningWell Mine was when an owl decided it was a good idea to fly into the barbed wire fence in the parking lot. Was sad after but in the moment it made me jump out of my skin. Dead silent train service station was kinda spooky, too. Terrible lighting, outskirts of town, and I was filling in for someone else so not a familiar layout.

The player is being tormented by the lady in the red dress, a ghost associated with betrayed lovers. He is forced to wander the place being chased by her forever. Red dress was a former GF most likely. She's mad that he left her to make a family with someone else.

I love chilla's art. they really nail the haunted spooky spirit horror type stuff which is my favorite angle of horror. personally not so into the popular "audio jumpscares" of many mainstream horror today or just relying on pure shock factor from gore. chilla's art got the best consistency in masterful horror pacing

And you are actually that security guard who “left”. You’re Keigo :) In the story you’re basically reliving a nightmare that you can’t escape. That’s why it’s surreal and “repeating”- there are hints of this such as the guy saying “why are you always here”..; the person in the bathroom on multiple floors; and the first woman who goes down the stairs even though they’re out of order… as well as the people who recognize you even though you’re supposed to be “new”.
A woman who worked in the company, a hard worker, was being abused by the organization, known in Japan as a Black Company. She would also stay late, even past midnight, to be with Keigo (you) in the night shift because she loved you so much- and would still take abuse at the company just to be with you. However, one of her bullies took you away from her, maliciously. The woman, depressed and at bottom of her despair, took her own life in the building. I guess the company took it due to stress so then created a policy not to work past midnight, but of course the reality is different.
Through this simulation, she reminds Keigo exactly what happened, how she felt, and experiences deep hatred towards him. The vibrating Japanese writings on the wall on the “11th floor” are phrases such as “go to hell”, “you’ll pay”, “I hate you” etc.
The salvation of course is the daughter’s birthday, which is with a woman not from work.. but Keigo, as you see with either ending, will always be haunted by his past.
Keep in mind that the person who is in the bathrooms night after night is in the women’s bathroom.. I still don’t know if it’s the female victim or the bully lady. I’m guessing victim? Just not sure what she means by “they died”.. unless she killed both Keigo and the bully he was involved with.. and then offed herself? I don’t know 😝
Symbolically, “no abnormality” is just when security tap their phone or badge to censors.. but in this case, there’s an obvious, continuous denial by the guard of not only the abnormality of that work environment but also of the nefarious things he is/was involved in. Meaning, there’s nothing normal about a woman who desperately loves you and is obsessed with you, and is showing you, floor by floor, how much utter pain she’s in.. and you still check off the box “no, everything is normal”- in other words, a denial of her feelings & the pain caused to her. This probably makes her absolutely livid.
Also why you can never finish your shift in the 11th floor nor leave. She doesn’t want you to leave, neither to your family (calendar), nor complete your task, nor by the stairs.
Just some conjecture.
This was surprisingly hilarious to watch 😂 very glad I'm not playing, though! The devs definitely upped their game with this one!!

It's a shame that the flier on the emergency exits wasn't translated in english, otherwise you'd read that it was a warning not to take the stairs because they're under maintenance and cannot be used - which makes all the people "leaving" the office that way all the more strange and creepy.

Regarding the "I'm not the cleanup guy", you'd be surprised at how many security posts in America expect you to be a janitor or in the case of hotels, expect you to do the concierge's job as well.
Yet they still pay the same as posts that only have you do patrols/access control.
I'm calling this 20 minutes in the vod, this game reminds of the toxic work culture in Japan and how these ghosts are a product of this everyday dullness/despair created by short deadlines and massive loads of work without sufficient breaks
