Awesome Paul! Yeah we would like to hit up AOAA once our schedule opens up in the next few months. We might do a DRC community crawl. We would love to have you guys join us

Yeah Well, since you asked, Matt, I would leave the fenders as they are : ) I don't think any aftermarket ones will be as good as you have now. Your Jeep looks great. I can't do the ferd antenna, but like you said it looks good on yours. My wife also likes the passenger tray 'covey' that Ryan recommends. 🙂I tell you, manual shift is the way to go. The ZF 8 speed transmission is setting the standard. It's what the other manufacturers wish they had! While the ZF is very heavy duty & reliable, you have to help it when you want to accelerate. Use automatic for light driving like you said, but if you want that motor to do something, you think faster than the transmission, Use manual shift. I use manual mode in the Gladiator with 3.6 otherwise it never finds a gear. I leave it in manual mode in the 392 wrangler because it keeps it out of the MDS 4 cylinder mode. You're good, I wouldn't change to much more. Best regards Chuck
The transmission shifting issue you're having is the lag between the transmission kicking into down gear (so you don't lug the engine) and the engine/turbo response. Best way around that is just manual down shift before you stomp it when highway cursing speeds around 60/70 in auto high gear with lower rpms. Welcome to the joys of automatic turbos.
The JL Wrangler is on my list of new vehicles...short list. Very short. 2-door 4-door. V6 or V8. Ruled out the manual. Been there done that. JK 2-door and Gladiator Mojave both manual. Rubicon X most definitely. 2-door leads the list but...the 392 has jumped on the list. 99% of the time it's just me in the vehicle. VERY tough decision. Especially since it is going to stay with me for a long time. And I'm 60. That also is a factor. Love the video.
I have ‘22 2.0 and had the performance limited pop up on initial drive home from dealership in Portland. Dealer can’t replicate it so they won’t do anything about it. Normally happens to me when decelerating quickly esp if going down hill or using OffRoad+. Side note I LOVE the OffRoad+ and can’t find but cpl YT vids talking about it. 4H on mtn backroads is so much fun!
love the headlights. My 2023 rubicon didn’t come with the led package, so I'll definitely be adding these along with led fender lights and fog lamps eventually.
Rugged Ridge Amfib Snorkel. I do not plan to go through deep water, but the RRAS lets you take the long hose part off and just have a Cowl air intake. I'm sure there's others as well. it seems like a pretty good mod. Cooler air, slightly safer for deep water. Looks kind of cool. What do y'all think? I heard it makes wiring on the batter difficult, but..... Who knows.
1 year in my high tide 19000 miles. just a few cosmetic changes . will be adding a rugged ridge vendor bumper soon . and maybe change the flooring. I really love the vynl floor in the bronco. like you I go to the beach alot.
The adaptive transmission makes sense now with my JL. I haven't noticed anything extra sluggish, (maybe because I came from a Patriot) but my MPG has significantly increased over the month and a half I've had the vehicle. I drive pretty conservatively to and from work, never really gunning it and the computer says I'm getting 24 MPG (2 door Sport S, 2.0L). Calculating at the pump says 22-23, not bad at all. I'm pretty sure this is the same 8 speed Jeep has had for a while, just the way I brake I can feel the transmission hitch from 2nd to 1st as I come to a stop, and my dads '15 GC does the exact same thing. Not a bad thing, just noticeable.
Very much enjoyed the video. I am curious, with the 2.0 turbo four-cylinder, are you still finding that you can pull eighth gear OK on the highway with 37‘s? Also on the front fender topic. I recently watched one of Brad‘s videos…I believe from EJS, and he was talking about a different style of fender that Jeep may be releasing, have you heard about this?
13:54 my experience that I have is a turbo vehicles requires premium gas. I called Jeep and the confirm the v6 is the only one where regular gas is ok.The 2.0 requires premium.
@@DIRTROADCRED On the bonus side, you can go a few weeks without washing her, and it looks like it just got detailed. Especially when the Sun is shining 😎😎
Absolutly gorgeous Jeep. Love how the Jeep Wrangler looks soo good without the roof and doors. I would leave the fenders as they are or do a fender chop. Would never go for aftermarket junk.
You touched on the shift lag. My 24 XR has lag and shifts somewhat rough eapecially in 3rd and 4th gears. Have you heard of anybody else experiencing the same issue?
Love the videos! That shelf looks amazing. I was literally just looking to buy one and thinking why can’t I find a hardtop one. Then said let’s see what dirt road cred has been up to and sure enough lol I have a hard top, when do you think those will be available?
Your Jeep looks great! If you swap the fenders I’ll buy yours and have them painted Mojito Green to put on my ‘19 JLU with 6 speed manual! I’m in the suburban Philly area so it would be easy. The shelf looks great too-looks to be an excellent fit and finish. Well done
i own a stock 4 door Jeep myself, when i toke my 2.0L in the city just cruisin around gives us wonderful gas mileage but when i was a couple times to FL back and forth and pushing like 80-95 miles an hour the gas mileage was just horrible, realy so ... if you a cruising slowly in the city is good,up to 60-65 highway is also good but if you like to drive a little harder then that probably the pentastar or 392 will be a better option
I have experience with Katzskin with my 2014 Silverado that I sold to buy a Jeep Wrangler and now in the Jeep Wrangler and it is flawless. I just went with the regular all black but they have many options. In my opinion it is top quality and better than factory.
My 22 JLUXR popped up that "fuel performance limited" warning the other week at a little over 10k on mine and I was running 93 octane. Someone on the jeep forum mentioned that it was some kind of software issue that is shared with 4xe.
If you are looking for a nice easy mod for the fender, I have the Diode Dynamics clear sidemarkers on my JL and I love the wraparound clear look with the DRL, like its one cohesive setup.
Last week we had Katzkin leather put in our 2010 JKUR. We bought this Jeep new in 2010 and it's still a wonderful rig. It has never been a daily driver and we've only used it for recreation, so it only has 55K on it. We live in southwest Colorado very near Moab and it's seen a relatively high percentage of trail use compared to highway, with lots of gettin in and out which took a toll on the seats. At this years EJS, the drivers seat upholstery began to separate and it was time to address this and we went with Katzkin. Katzkin was wonderful to work with design wise and the matching body color contrast stitching and "RUBICON" logos look great. Matt I'd like to see what color combos your could come up with Katzkin based on the Velocity as the bright colors really do complement a built Jeep such as yours. Your dash color match looks great, but makes the red in the seats somewhat out of place IMO. It's still a beautiful piece of machinery you have there and I'd put it in my garage in a heart beat! As for the longevity of Katzkin I can't say at this time but we're gonna find that out. The quality surpasses OEM IMO and the appearance is great. JEEP ON!
Greetings. The owner of Katzkin did a video a few years ago on his Jeep being built. As a owner of a Jeep, I am sure you will get years of good service life from you seat covers.
Matt & Ryan, loooooove the channel. Been a huge fan since its inception. You guys are one of the main reasons I ordered my Jeep and just picked it up 2 weeks ago. Quick question for you: what license plate relocator brand did you end up going with?
Great video and update on the Jeep and the rear cover Congrats to the channel on everything through this year. You guys are kicking it….. PNC Covers is where I’d go. Fully custom and many options. Jeep looks nice with that Clayton lift. Still waiting to catch you on some PA trails. What’s up?
Bartact seat covers are great. They’re that rip-stop fabric, so they take a severe beating. You can color match them too, just saying… 😅 Also I fully support Ryan getting a 2-door.
Love your videos, or should I say Ryan's videos 😂 You said you are running MT AT tires for the first time. You seem to like. People that own them love them and those that don't say they are difficult to balance. Did you need a lot of weights? Anything else you can tell me about those tires? I'm try to decide 38" Mickey Thompson or Nitto Trail Grapplers. Your input??? Thanks Matt
Would love to see Jeep add some drive modes that would adjust the transmission and allow us to drive differently when we wanted. That would fix the sluggish throttle for the most part. FYI, XR 2.0 stock- avg 20-21 mpg with mixed driving. All highway I can get 23-23.5
Can they CNC your logo in to the top you came up with or add your sticker to it? Would the taht also work with the One touch roof? I like the option for more security with the doors off and windows out.
I wonder if the lag is the electronic accelerator in general? We have a few 2022 and 2023 Ford Interceptor Utilities (exploders) and they have a terrible lag when you get on the gas. Probably a 1/2 second or so before it also seems to react to the gas being pushed down. Not a good thing and I am not a fan of this. They are fly by wire now as well whereas the previous ones were still a mechanical pedal.
I get the same "performance limited" message on my '22 2.0L XR JLUR. I exclusively run 91 in mine, so I don't think the type of fuel you're running is making a difference.
I'm really liking my Diver Down Neoprene Seat Covers. The fit looks like OEM seats. The shelf looks good. I went with a bullet antenna. I just don't like the look of an antenna flapping around.
I would love to see the thin line fender chop with the factory fender. It's such a clean look over what comes stock. And since it's a mod to a factory part, a "how to" video would make us all feel a little more comfortable with doing it ourselves. Side note question. How do you lock the rear seat fold down to prevent access to the rear compartment when using the new deck? And as always, thanks for such informative videos. Cant wait to see where this channel goes from here. Great work to the both of you!
Great vid as always and I could use at least one/day but I get it if you have a family/life lol You may have covered this but do any of those mods negate the factory warranty? Yes on the 2-door, looking forward to watching that thing transform! Working on a Jeep deal right now, will know Tuesday, wish me luck!
i only out 91 and it gave me that message on and off. i reported it to the dealer and they said it needed some sort of update. havent got to drive it much to see if the issue is still there.
Best seat covers in my opinion…BARTACT. They have held up amazing over the last 8 years. What sold me? A guy on RUclips did a review on his Wrangler for a year without the top on. Exposed to the elements. He was hard on that thing. Check it out. Im considering trading my Unlimited in for either a 2door Rubicon or a Xtreme Recon edition. I keep going back and forth. 😆 great videos! Keep it going.
I have the Xtreme Recon package too and I eventually want to upgrade to 37 inch tires. Can I run 37’s on the current wheels it came with or will I need to upgrade those as well?
Do you guys know how to keep the backup sensor from beeping everytime I back up? We put on Fuel wheels with -12 offset with 285/70/r17 on our Willys. I can see the wheel in the camera which I have gotten used to but the beeping freaks me out making me think I am about to run over something. Any inexpensive solutions for this? This is my daily driver.
Great job Matt the Jeep is looking awesome I’m more of the factory finder type guy and I think you’re Jeep is awesome but I know everyone has their own opinion but keep up the great work buddy.👍🏼😊❤️
You run 87? Wow. My ‘18 O.M. says to only use premium; not to use 87. Hmm. And I just put 2000 miles and got 26.5mpg and above. Also - order a limited edition color on that 2-door base model. I still pine for a 2-door, manual, Tuscadero that I didn’t order.
Thanks the the video, love the content! I know of a great dealership in Washington State that could work for your affiliate program. I have bought many jeeps from them, even a recent 392, with no markup. I look forward to connecting.
Bugs are attracted to bright colors that fall into the UV spectrum. Why? Pests and bugs look for colors that mimic the food that they like to eat. For example, brighter colors such as yellow and orange replicate flowers.
Nice review! I have a 22 High Tide and may dad has a 23 sport s 2 dr that I think you guys would love 😅 We have a bunch of mods and accessories between the 2 of us that I think you guys would like 😁 I also have a seat cover option that I think you would agree is better than the one you mentioned in the video 😏👍

Bunch of people are mentioning Bartact! Gotta check them out.
Ryan fully supports this comment!
@@DIRTROADCRED You guys will look like pickles and mustard going down the trail 😂
Thanks Matt
😂 making Matt look his best
-Ryan
Is there any chance you guys could make that cargo cover for JK's as well? I have a two door and I would love one
Definitely! Starting with the 4 door JL, and eventually the 2 door. JKs TJs to follow
Awesome rig Matt and Ryan
Thanks Raptor 700!
I would order the base 2 door and put aftermarket axles under it and run 38’s with very minimal lift.
2 door base and build it from there!
So a year later … what’s your best suggestion for a spare tire carrier, to hold a 37 ? Budget friendly yet solid …. Inexpensive, but not cheap 😊
We got something in the works!
Would love to see Jeep add some drive modes that would adjust the transmission and allow us to drive differently when we wanted. That would fix the sluggish throttle for the most part. FYI, XR 2.0 stock- avg 20-21 mpg with mixed driving. All highway I can get 23-23.5
That would be a nice addition!
Your jeep looks awesome
Thanks Damon!
Can they CNC your logo in to the top you came up with or add your sticker to it? Would the taht also work with the One touch roof? I like the option for more security with the doors off and windows out.
Definitely including a decal with every purchase!
You guys should do a review on a turbo timer for reliability of the 2.0! And Cole dodge in Michigan has been solid pricing on jeeps!
Not a bad idea! Thanks for the suggestion
They are fly by wire now as well whereas the previous ones were still a mechanical pedal.
that could be contributing!
That liner is tough
Thanks!
I get the same "performance limited" message on my '22 2.0L XR JLUR. I exclusively run 91 in mine, so I don't think the type of fuel you're running is making a difference.
hmmm interesting
Nice! Does the whole dash have to come out or are those just easy panels to remove?
Not bad to remove but let someone handle the air bag
It seems like you can but I’ll ask anyway, can you put the shelf and the hard top on at the same time?
Yes we are looking into a hardtop version as well!
I'm really liking my Diver Down Neoprene Seat Covers. The fit looks like OEM seats. The shelf looks good. I went with a bullet antenna. I just don't like the look of an antenna flapping around.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Working on a fix for the folding issue, good idea on the fender chop!
That delay might just be the turbo lag. Not so much the transmission.
Maybe!
Great vid as always and I could use at least one/day but I get it if you have a family/life lol
You may have covered this but do any of those mods negate the factory warranty?
Yes on the 2-door, looking forward to watching that thing transform!
Working on a Jeep deal right now, will know Tuesday, wish me luck!
Thanks for watching! Some mods will affect the warranty, but ultimately it depends on the dealership!
i only out 91 and it gave me that message on and off. i reported it to the dealer and they said it needed some sort of update. havent got to drive it much to see if the issue is still there.
Interesting!
PRP seat covers are great for cloth seats !!!
Thanks Brian!
I'm looking to get the rear cargo protector, I see on the website for up 2024 JL, but can it fit a 2023 4xe?
Yes it will fit all 4 door JLs with the soft top
Performance limited message I have never seen in my 2021 4xe Rubicon
I guess thats a good thing!
Thanks for the suggestion! Definitely going to check them out
@@DIRTROADCRED formerly called Trek Armor. Video is: Trek Armor seat covers: 1 year of abuse review.
I second the Bartact covers. I have them in my JK and love them.
Bartact covers are A+. I’m in Florida so leather or neoprene is a recipe for swampass. The BARTACT covers are the best
I have the Xtreme Recon package too and I eventually want to upgrade to 37 inch tires. Can I run 37’s on the current wheels it came with or will I need to upgrade those as well?
I have 37s on mine no issues with the stock 17s.
Yes they will fit fine!
Entire review is on point as usual.. it's what you're going to deal with
On point is all you're going to get!
Maybe swap an XR camera on ?
Thank you for supporting usa with your flag ... no one would have ever guessed
glad we could clarify by telling you
Do you think it’s worth it to add upgraded rock rails over the OEM or do you think the OEM provide enough protection when wheeling or just door dings
I like the regular rails, the performance are pricey for what you get!
Is that shelf waterproof? Looks unbelievable!
Probably 95 percent waterproof, especially if you are moving forwards!
Great job Matt the Jeep is looking awesome I’m more of the factory finder type guy and I think you’re Jeep is awesome but I know everyone has their own opinion but keep up the great work buddy.👍🏼😊❤️
Different opinions are important! Thanks Danny
You run 87? Wow. My ‘18 O.M. says to only use premium; not to use 87. Hmm. And I just put 2000 miles and got 26.5mpg and above.
Also - order a limited edition color on that 2-door base model. I still pine for a 2-door, manual, Tuscadero that I didn’t order.
Lol I’m living on the edge!
A 2 door base would be awesome!
I think so!
What’s the main difference between the Wyllis sport S and the SahAra ?
Might need to do a video
@@DIRTROADCRED yes.
Iindsey gave me the prices for both. I want to know which is an overall better ride and value. Glamour is secondary
Thanks the the video, love the content! I know of a great dealership in Washington State that could work for your affiliate program. I have bought many jeeps from them, even a recent 392, with no markup. I look forward to connecting.
Thats awesome!
What’s the time frame for a hardtop only version of the shelf?
Our schedule is pretty hectic during show season, we will probably revisit this engineering come fall time
@@DIRTROADCRED awesome. Thank you for the reply. Current product looks fantastic.
PRP Seat covers from Temecula CA…
Good idea!
Bugs are attracted to bright colors that fall into the UV spectrum. Why? Pests and bugs look for colors that mimic the food that they like to eat. For example, brighter colors such as yellow and orange replicate flowers.
👍👍
Nice review! I have a 22 High Tide and may dad has a 23 sport s 2 dr that I think you guys would love 😅 We have a bunch of mods and accessories between the 2 of us that I think you guys would like 😁 I also have a seat cover option that I think you would agree is better than the one you mentioned in the video 😏👍
Send us some photos to our IG!
Metalcloak fender gutz delete and inner fenders only way to go
Thanks for the suggestion Joe!
Leave the stock fenders, they look better than the aftermarket.
Thanks for the input
Can you purchase a 2-door jeep Willy’s?
Might be going with a 2 door sport!
