It’s really good to sand the inside , the underside and edges as well. It better helps to remove “all” the bad stuff. Then restrain and seal “ all “ surfaces. That way, whatever you store inside of them is setting next to a healthy surface and it looks all the better, inside and out. It’s a little more work , but completely worth it. Clean out the cavity and seal with fresh stain and clear coat, using a brush, cloth and spray paint can of clear, or brush on poly.
That dresser turned out great. I refinished a serpentine dresser like that several months ago. I ended up painting all of mine. Now I kind of wish I had stained the drawers. Top on mine was quite damaged so paint was my choice there. It also smelled funky. I painted the insides, backs and bottoms of the drawers which helped immensely.
I’ve got an old chest of drawers from my dad’s childhood. He took them to Australia, painted them blue/green/yellow and put them in my nursery. They’re in good condition (considering they’ve been in a garage for 20 years lol) but this vid has inspired me to deodorise, restore and re-paint them. Thanks!
I have followed your steps for refinishing wood furniture with general finishes milk paint and it's turning out amazing!! Thank you for you tips and you tube videos!! I was totally freaked out, but it turned out beautiful.
@@RootsWingsHome so I have a question, I painted my dining room benches and chairs with lamp black milk paint. Looked great until I put the general finishes top coat satin finish and now I can see a ton of brush strokes. I liked the flat finish I had and I couldn't see any brush strokes. I thought that it had leveled out beautifully. I think the top coat made the lines appear. Please help any advice? If I used the flat top coat would it dry without the lines appearing? As of right now I'm going to have to sand down the chair I placed the satin top coat finish on. What do you think? Thank you!!
Love this paint color and wow, the stained drawers sure became the star of the show against that blue. You are amazing at what you do! Awesome job! I love it! Have a great day. Hugs from the southeast coast of Florida🌴😎💙😎🌴
I have n old dresser that has n odor…I don’t want to put clothes in till I get out the smell. The butter u mentioned will it permeate n cause a strong odor on clothes? It’s winter n getting it out in the sunshine is tough. Thanks 😊 beautiful chest 👌
Hey I am kind of new to this and I was wondering is there any chance you can list all the tools that you use so that I can go to a shopping? Lol I just don’t know the name of some of the stuff you use and it would really help me out
I will seal the chalk paint on this with Easy Peasy wax - dixiebellepaint.com/easy-peasy-spray-wax-8oz/?aff=177 I usually would do a topcoat, but this dresser would have bled like crazy, even with a darker color.
The Musty Smell was not addressed as stated in the headline?
She removes smell with : Big Mama's Butta orange grove scent.

Yes! Painting the inside is another way to seal in that smell too! I love a serpentine dresser like this, and they are a bit hard to find!
@@RootsWingsHome I picked mine up for $25 at a garage sale. Got lucky. Kept that one for myself!

Just found your channel and I love it! I noticed you haven’t posted a video in a year. Have you quit RUclips? I sure hope not!
Whats the name of cleaner?
What ever happened to a rag and a bucket instead of ten rolls of paper towel??
To each their own...
Did you seal the painted area with a top or wax? Very pretty!!!!

What sander are you using?
Probably a Rigid brand (Home Depot).
its so cute..
You should get a table to work on instead of kneeling on the floor and bending over so much when you sand and oil, it will save your back
Yes, you are right!
I will try to do it with Woodglut plans.
Woodglut is nice for that.
