Imperial Beach: Felony Evasion 05162024

An SDSO Deputy spotted a male riding a motorcycle without a helmet on the 200 block of Palm Ave. He attempted to pull the rider over for not wearing a helmet and for not having a license plate on a dirt (motorcycle) bike, which he was illegally riding on the city streets.
In a reckless display, the rider accelerated and reached alarming speeds of 75 mph on the city streets. Deputies were in pursuit but stopped when the rider started to go the wrong way into oncoming traffic on Palm Ave.
The Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter was overhead and started to follow the suspect.
The rider made his way to the north end of Imperial Beach and started having issues with the motorcycle’s engine. The suspect slowed down and then stopped at Cypress & 12th St when a deputy approached him. The suspect was taken into custody at this point. He is facing several charges, including felony evasion.
