SHED RACING - Ivan in Provence: A busman’s holiday!

- So last week Ivan and Suzie went to Provence to test drive a Type 44 Bugatti in the sunshine . Of course the holiday had to include some shed visits to see yet more old treasure and cars. Also featured a brief appearance by Ivan's friend, the American artist Tony Ramos, in his Morgan.
We promise the next video will include some ‘spannering’ and real engineering, not just leisure - brace yourselves for footage of the recommissioning of the Emeryson 500cc race car.
And a shout out to our great accommodation near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

Ivan has more 'get up and go' than most people half his age. Bravo Ivan!
We need more Ivan’s in this world ⭐️
I've been watching Ivan since the beginning from Canada and I think he's marvelous!! We will gladly listen to any and all your old stories of racing or your father, or anything else . Thank you for getting to this point with your videos' . . . Cheers!!
Absolutely loved the ending drive segment with the music, Ivan and Susie. So very pleasant. Thank you👏
The variety in these videos is impressive! What a life you lead, Ivan.
What a life you lead, Ivan. Well deserved. I love France, looks like you had a fine old time.
Best wishes, Dean at Retromeccanica, Oxfordshire.
Splendid view over the bonnet dashing through pretty french towns. Wonderful.
cracking video again well done Suzie for the filming , looking forward to seeing the Salmson back at the shed
What a great life, thank you for sharing it with us. And yes, that was a British Seagull outboard.
Brilliant content Ivan ( and Susie)
What a terrific video! So much great stuff to see. Loved the old Citroen farm truck resting in the field. John's collection was amazing! I actually painted a Lotus 57 similar to that one for a friend a couple of years ago. Congratulations on your latest Salmson purchase; it looks like a very nice machine to keep you all busy back at the Shed! I am not sure what I'll be doing today, but I am confident that it won't be cruising the streets of Provence in a Bugatti with a lovely lady... I shall settle for a trip to the store in a Renault 5 with my dog! All the very best from Canada...
I was going to post the 'link' to this in case your friend would be interested in the racer, then the "Duh" part of me stalled and I recalled it was You who recommended this channel to us.TY again.Looking forward to tonight's, and Saturday's videos.
Hello Scott. Fancy seeing you here. I thought of you when I saw that Lotus front end. All the best, Mart in England.
Lol, I'm not surprised to see you here!
Or in a fine old Frazer ...
Fabulous French countryside drive
Ivan is living the dream, and good luck to him and Anne.
Or Susie
@@malcolmtill maybe Ivan has an Anne also......😉
@@blackdoublezero several perhaps...
Ivan may age but will never be old...
What a happy video! Nice to see you down here enjoying the sun! Stay safe! Chris B.
Pretty slick Ivan, I noticed not a hair on your head was blowing out of place on that drive with Suzie, whereas her hair was getting all messed up. Living the life you folk.
The downside of having a full head of hair !
@@suziepilkington5600 Suzie, I think it's simply down to "aerodynamics", honestly.
Ivan being a racing driver and all.
Brilliant, loved it, many thanks
Wonderful post, thank you.❤️👍
That Salmson looks a bit like the one used in the Jacques Tati film Le Vacances de Monsieur Hulot, with the V shaped windscreen.
That was fun! Thank you for sharing...
Great little video showing you both having fun....healthy fun.
Which it is, all about.
Great little holiday shots of those lovely cars...
You should do some more... holidays like that and showing old cars throughout Europe.
Remembering that a lot of the old cars were right hand drive... especially in Spain...but that was a long time ago..
Keep Suzie smiling, and yourself naturally..
Very Nice video. Beautiful countryside. Thanks for taking us along.
Love you and Suzie Ivan great watch!
Another project car!😃
Ivan looks happier than a wild boar in a mud pit.
Great to tag along with "World Class Vintage Auto Collectors"!! ... looking forward to another Salmson in the Shed...👍🇺🇸👍
Loved the video thanks you both.
CATERPILLAR D2
This was the first tractor purchased on the property of Mas neuf de Romanin. For the record, it was hidden in a grove during the Second World War so that the Germans would not steal it
Really great video. I think Susie is just a breath of fresh air...
Sweet!
Such a joyous vid. Thank you.
Ivan and Suzy remind me of the " jet setters" of the 1960s, only a little more relaxed.
What a lovely video. Thanks for sharing
St Remy-De-Provence at around 17.18 (I recognized those columns). I spent a lot of time cycling around there. One of my favourite places! ...And then there's Cotignac.
Another great outing and very much enjoyed and appreciated watching.
You lucky sod Ivan, a beautiful car, a beautiful day, a beautiful road and a beautiful lady. Cheers
Upon seeing it, immediately thought that little blue roadster would fit right in in Ivan's paddock. So glad he bought it. Surprised he didn't buy the Sampson chassis with drive train. Would love to see John and him diving into that gorgeous engine.
*Who doesn't love a root around someone else's old shed of stuff. That Citroen lorry is a beauty* 👍
What a great video, the scenery looks fantastic and the filming looking out the front when traveling 👍
So nice to see you both enjoying each other's company
A great life
Safe travels
A couple of things, the bird song at the start is truly beautiful and secondly, get the French lad to brush up all the noisy leaves in that barn, could hardly hear a thing because of your feet scrunching the dead leaves, what a racket.
On a more positive note, a great little film. Best time to visit South France, nice warm quiet roads.
What a lovely day for a drive thank you 😊
As a kid in France in the early sixties the old Citroen trucks were still common things. Very slow.
Caterpillar D2 (Crawler) and a Towed Scraper, the D2 has a petrol ‘Donkey’ start, to start the Diesel , I’d rather be messing with that D2 than welding sills on your old Figaro 😂….enjoy your Busman’s 🙌🏻
Ivan, driving an open car without eye protection is inviting a fly in the eye, Suzie's the smart one she's wearing glasses, dark ones at that for that bright Provence sunshine. Us old guys have to protect our eyes as they one of the very few things that still work. 😆😆
it does have a windscreen thats where the camera is clipped on and ivan is sitting quite low in it too so not likely to get many flies in his direction
Ivan does have the more suitable hairstyle 😁
Ivan’s still a rookie, he’ll learn with time…
@Dennis Sheridan no need to go all "nanny" on an old stager like Ivan, he's been around you know...
The drive footage was wonderful. Not sure why anyone would put a sharpening stone in a mill - what were they thinking! 😃
Great informative video, Sue I am sure your comments will help other Campers.
Thanks for sharing the drive 🥂
Thanks Straight Ahead ✌😎
Looks like a wonderful holiday! I am making a parts list for my 1930 Peugeot 201. I would like to get back on that project this year. I am working to clear out the majority of client projects by the end of 2024. I have my own projects to recommission and restore. Wishing you both a Deluxe weekend! Be good. Remain safe.
The man we dealt with is obviously the son or not the son or someone else entirely 😂
My Morgan is 63 4/4. The Morgan pictured is a plus 4 with louvevrbed upper bonnet. Be fun to. Drive there but northern i😅llinois and nearby Wisconsin has nice driving too.
At one point there it looked more like Ivan and Medusa go for a drive!
A great video. Guess these old cars last longer over there due to warmer climate and less salt on the roads.
In the south of France, in style. Does it get any better than that?
Wow a rare LH bandsaw 😆it's a bit like the one used by the guy building the boat (no not Noah) Acorn to Arabella worth a look only it's a RH.
Steve is his name lol I've been following that build since the lead keel pour lol Don't Arabella look sweet now?
Yes the "bandsaw" is what they call a "ship Saw".
Not sure how you fit a ship on it though!
Hairs looking nice Suzie
Like Medusa ! Need to figure out suitable headwear for such gallivanting 😂
@@suziepilkington5600 for you Suzie, a nice silk scarf knotted under your chin will sort your Medusa tendencies out, and will show the frogs what a beautiful English woman wears when " Motoring"
Maybe we could start a Shed Racing Preservation Society ? 😊 I'd happily throw in a fiver.
Someone needs to set up shop!
Headphones on- at 7:27 onwards something in the background is doing a good impression of rolls royce merlins..
We need that fencing here in Florida, the feral pigs are a plague. They will climb or jump fencing if they can't push through.🐷
Show me a woman who can't use a phone. 😂😂
What about getting them home what would be the cost.
Is that a Bug they took all the way down? Does anyone know the John Champs Ivan mentions in the video (web address)?
We just drove it around Provence - maybe 300km
@@suziepilkington5600 Well, you managed to make us all jealous on two levels- the car and Provence!
@@phila3884 I thought you'd be jealous because I was hanging out with Ivan!!
Things that I have (had) no interest in, are suddenly interesting?
1947 catarpillar diesel 👍
