Things That Have Never, Ever Been Said: Episode 39
"You know what the roof could really use? A trap door."
I really like this mod series so far. It seems like the author actually put a lot of thought into enhancing the existing characteristics of each city, instead of just cluttering them with a bunch of pine trees :)
seconded, I am absolutely loving the work that has been put into these 3 cities and keeping with the lore of each city is something I honestly haven't seen much of with the exception of riften thieves edition (but imo that mod added a little too much). I really cant wait to see solitude and markarth. I have also heard plans for dawnstar, morthal and winterhold so that should be phenominal.
Bro, nice profile pic!
thunderwolf2005 What would Morthal be?
More mud... or more vampire conspiracies?
TheTrueWolfboy
Maybe a more standing worship of the Atmoran Hero-God, Morihaus. The place could also be enhanced with more supernatural things. Think about it, the Jarl has psychic visions and dreams, they don't like wizards, a ghost-child haunting a burnt down house, a vampire hiding in secret, and a hidden summoning circle in the marsh used to cure Vampirism. Not to mention the graveyard, and Ustengrav.
Oh, and Movarth's Lair.
williewest10 Graveyard? I don't remember that... I'll have to look again.
But yeah, most of what you said made since- although there are Nordic tombs and vampire lairs EVERYWHERE, not just in Morthal.
Good mod, but c'mon... "I live in Riften. People say this to be home for the thieves guild... let's help them! Let's live in a house with a hatch on the roof!!!" -,-
I know this is an old comment but maybe that's why the Thieve's Guild chose Riften to be it's HQ. Easy houses and businesses to break into means easy pickings and a quick Septim or two.
Ross Randolph I think it's more to do with the twilight sepulcher...
I don't know, overall it looks good, but those ladders and stairways to access rooftops look too artificial and does not fit quite well.
Lol everyone in Riften is like "We have a really bad thief problem so we should build our houses so they're very easy to break into" XD
It would be cool if some of them had traps attached. Or dropped into a holding cell. Of course anyone who lived in such a crime ridden city would know the real defense against burglary is not walls and locks but being in good with the powers that be like Maven.
Or a thief lives there and installed an easy escape route? It got me thinking too, but this theory makes it less immersion breaking.
So let me get this straight.
They live in a town riddled with thieves and decide a network of ladders and catwalks leading to hatches on their rooftops is just what they need?
Yeah okay, that makes perfect sense.
I seriously love the Dawn Of... mods. The author puts so much detail in such a little package. They don't just throw random stuff into the city in an attempt to make it realistic, they carefully place stuff according to the area and atmosphere. Glad to see they're continuing to make these city overhauls.
What if you killed Brand-Shei? .-. accidentally, of course...
Riften is by far my favourite city, it seems that this mod is exactly what I needed!
I think Riften is like a small, lower-class rivertown in southern Skyrim. The local Nords should speak with Irish accents.
Bretons are the Brits/Celts. They should speak with Irish or British accents. The Nords of Riften should speak with a more Danish or German lilt.
@@yermum319 imperials are mostly english like
If anything, I don't just watch these vids just for the awesome mods, I watch them for the wicked music and dancing NPC at the end of it! It's so hypnotizing for some reason...
could you please post both youtube AND nexus links in the description?
because now you have to go to the individual youtube video's their description and then go to the nexus via a link there.
those rooftop pathways are really cool
I have all three and I must say that this is the more immersive and lore friendly city mods I've experienced so far. will keep an eye on this mod series for sure.
played this with Open Cities and my, Whiterun feels 'right', like it should have been in the first place.
yeah sure there are framerate issues for my 4 years old PC (I have a 4870, man was this thing so awesome for Oblivion back then) but with SMIM Skyrim HD, FXAA injector, ELFX and this Dawn of Cities mods installed, I have to play at 1600 x 900 just to stay 40 - 50+ fps.
Its kind of like how RLS described Lodon in Jekyll and Hyde .
I use the collection of "Dawn Of'. it's great!
If you use the whole collection, then there's a Dawn Of Skyrim - Open Cities patch
Great mod.
Nice mods! Are there more mods like these? Dawn of Solitude would be awesome!
Here you go lawl
static1.nexusmods.com/15/images/110/141009-1373213100.jpg
i cant wait for solitude. winterhold and markarth.
Wouldn't the people in the houses just think "What the hell is this ladder doing on my house?" and just take it down? Pretty sloppy and not very thought out.
I don't play Skyrim anymore but i thumb this up since its interesting :D
Does these mods (dawn of riften, whiterun and such) work with the open cities mod?
Nice mod.
also what is the outro song, theres a link in the description but it takes you to a list of a bunch of songs and not the specific song.
Is there a mod that fixes the walls in white run and wind helm
Does anybody know how to fix meshes on orcs, khajiit and argonians? They don't have bodies when they're wearing armor
Some armor is racist as in its not compatible, i havent had that problem myself though so im not sure whether you can fix it or not.
Where do people get these lovely high res city textures? I tried to find them on the Nexus, but it eludes me.
I'm using the Whiterrun one because I live there.
Danm, I really like how the modder makes these, I have both the other "Dawn of" mods aswell but in Riften I still have the Thief Edition, which is better in your opinions?
the main problem is that the rat's become 'hostile' at the drop of a hat. Causing summons and companions to go on a crazed rat hunt.
+Ergo Sum , along with the vampires from Dawnguard and thieves if you happen to join the guild. I can't believe this mod gets so much acclaim when issues like this remain unresolved.
Will any of the "Dawn of" mods break my save game that I already have?
Should I get this or riften thief edition??
everything about this is so good…. but can the roof ladders be removed? that just seems so silly to me why they would have those only in Riften, the thief capital.
What is the Easter egg I've played morrowwind and skyrim but no oblivion
Is this compatible with Riften: Thieves Edition?
2:20 is that COT?
Is it compatible with the Riften Canal home?
Renegade925 get both and find out
Can you review my "i cant believe its not enb" someday?
It helped A LOT of player with weaker pc's with really nice visuals, the video on my channel is a disaster, the screenshots on the nexus are accurate.
Thanks a lot, i love your videos.
Is the Oblivion Easter Egg the Gray Fox's cowl?
***** I'm pretty sure it's in that one house called Riftweld or something where there's Chillrend and you have to get plans or whatever for the Thieves' Guild.
New enb?
Just curious, but why the author seems to favor Dunmer merchants in his city overhaul mods?
He doesn't really, it's just that 2 of the 3 cities he has remade have had something Dunmer to tinker in them. Windhelm is FULL of Dunmer, so it makes sense that some have taken up trading. And the only thing he's seemed to touch Dunmer-wise in Riften was Bran-Shei, but that was just to touch up the missing integration with Dragonborn items. And if he adds more Dunmer to Windhelm and Riften, that's perfectly lore friendly as they are the closest two cities to Morrowwind and likely where most refugees would stop.
What about Whiterun? Not saying that it's aesthetically bad, but it's curious to see Dunmer lanterns and a Dunmer merchant there.
***** Whiterun is the trading capitol of Skyrim, therefore it's just right that Dunmer *merchants, as well as other races (I don't know about Khajiit) to be present in that location.. :)
This mod really seems promising.. But I guess I'll wait till BOSS adds this to its masterlist..
Where is the a
oblivion easter egg?
Are these "Dawn" mods on xb1?
yeah nice :)
Amazing review but I prefer the thief edition.
Thought I might ask for help here, (I'm too lazy to seek help in a more appropriate location, and I just had the thought to ask).
In my game, I have a less than 1FPS if I look at a Horse and Carriage, I used to have the scenic carriages mod installed, but I removed the mod, and I'm not sure if it's even related to that mod. To be honest, I'm thinking I should just uninstall the game, and make a fresh install.
Open cities compatible?
Bunny Raptor Do you know if it is?
Hi people. I am having trouble with deciding between Dawn of Riften, JK's Riften and Riften - Thief Edition. Please give me your opinions and reasons on which mods are better or worse for different reasons, different play styles and just overall. Thanks.
+Charlie Pascoe , I would recommend JKs Riften until there's a satisfactory fix for the hostile rat issue that continues to plague the Dawn of Riften.
I still prefer Riften: thief edition but I agree that the dawn of series are all awesome mods.
I dunno about you guys but I'm not sure if a hatch to the roof is a smart investment for someone living in the home of the thieves guild.
does it lag much?
i dont get any lag tho my computer is pretty good
no spoilers i wanna find the easter egg
Are these on xbox
Umm can someone give me some advice on how fix skyrim desktop crashes? It started happening after i installed immersive armors n weapons plus populted mos trilogy. I have 4 gig of ram..
do you use Boss, TES5Edit and Wrye bash? I had crashes too and after getting these programs it's a lot better. they seem to be essential for fixing stuff (mod order, cleaning and leveled list so all mods play nicely together)
Ran Peleg Tnx will use these programms and see if will help :D
No problem, hope it helps. :)
The NPCs in Dawn of Whiterun don't seem to have any homes. They just kinda sit there and never leave their chairs day or night. I hope this mod isn't like that.
I need to rebuild my PC ... i want all these things
Wont help till eternity sadly ^^
The engine is limited at some point and will lag regardless
I have atm ~250 mods (esp's so not really mods ^^) active, enb installed 2k,4k and some 8k retextures. My game runs at 70-90 fps but it still has lags.
My cpu usage is ~70% at max
My ram is used up to 6GB
And trust me if you srlsy mod Skyrim YOU WILL hit that many mods aswell
LaN oXx Skyrim has a massive problem with stability if your RAM usage is above 3.1GB so... good luck with that.
Jesse Brunalli
So the lag is most likely cause by my texture mods?
Maybe I should try 2k textures
LaN oXx That was acutally really helpful. Thank ya!
Really nice Mod, but i stay with Rifton: Thiefs edition
*****
Im from germany and Riften is called Rifton in the german version so sorry.
Nah i hear this all the time its ok
Here is a little house mod from steam.
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=75468243&searchtext=the+hollow
bro jewl
is this mod any better than the other riften mod that made it more thieve-ish like
Its a good mod, but i'm missing open cities mod.... so yeah.
+Captain Morgan There's a compatibility mod
Please make JK's Riften
Ssssssssssssssssssssssss don't get me wrong I love your vids and I am not the best talker to but take more time between words especially when the word involves a s just a tip I had the same problem a couple of years ago
Hatches are a dumb idea. Who builds a hatch into their house for the express purpose of making it easier to rob? Also, Brand-Shei doesn't have a big connection to Morrowind; he was raised by Argonians. Do your research.
The Thieves Guild has had a strong influence on Riften since before Tiber Septim was born, and bribing architects to include hatches on the roofs of houses is exactly the sort of thing they'd do.
As for Brand-Shei selling Morrowind-style items, you can actually hear him advertising his goods as "rare trinkets and the finest oddities from Morrowind."
I have done my research, and everything seems to make sense to me. :)
Haha well that's fair; I'll let the Brand-Shei thing slide :P
I still think hatches are ridiculous, especially considering how easy it is already to rob houses...
umm... ok i was looking through riften mods to see witch i liked better. and there is an old mod, uploaded back in 2012 and this mods is exactly like it in every way. i think this guy stole the better riften mod
www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9577/?tab=3&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodimages%2F%3Fid%3D9577%26user%3D1&pUp=1
to clarify i think the dawn of riften guy stole the better riften mod because the walkways and trees and everything is exactly the same and the better riften mod is much older then the dawn of riften mod. it looks like all he did was add a few barrels crates and maybe a pathway or two but this is practically an exact copy.
oh ok never mind then.
