I am currently using RM2 and love it but wanted to use the GO 10.3 to replace my Scribe, being I now have books on Kindle and Kobo and I need the large screen for a reader. Dont use my Scribe all that much only when reading and note taking on the RM2 for teaching. Thanks for all you do in reviewing and showing how this works.

      I just ordered one but I am concerned about not having the front light. Is it possible to read ebooks at night at all? Now Im think of the note 3c since they seem pretty similar. I know the 10.3 is light and has the 300ppi.

      It's pretty good. I compared performance of the Go vs the Scribe and found the latter to be slightly snappier on page turns and in general navigation, but the gap is not huge. You notice it with the devices side-by-side, but I don't think you'd notice the difference in isolation.

    Thank you so so much! Comprehensive obviously, but thoughtful and helpful throughout. And you've got a great deskside manner, sir 😅 I know there isn't much call for this kind of deep dive with mobile electronics anymore because the companies have basically trained us to one-click purchase when they activate the flashing lights and pretty colors- but I guess some of us are old-fashioned enough that when we're paying hundreds of dollars for something we want to know just what the eff it can do. Obviously you're this way too, except you have the motivation and good grace to get off your butt and 'be the change you want to see in the world.' I can tell these videos are a big task for what i imagine as little reward, so, just saying- We the discerning people of the world appreciate you, brother!

    Hi great review, would you say that the go 10.3 is usable indoors, with normal indoor lighting?

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes. The lighting really matters, so your experience will vary, but generally you don't need great lighting for taking notes, and for reading you will need better lighting, but in the right environment either is just fine.

    Hi Jeffrey! Always, a pleasure and truly enjoyed your "VisualTour", well done and informative. I do have a question, but it's not regarding the software but more on the physical aspect of the device. Have you noticed any issues with the faux leather on the back of the Boox Go 10.3 tablet? . Wishing you the best! Kudos from NYC.

    • @Peepeh
      @Peepeh 2 месяца назад +2

      I got my Go 10.3 a few days ago, so if you don't mind, I will chime in. I assume you are asking because a lot of people are saying there is glue at the edge of the PU leather. I don’t see a problem with it. There are two of these devices in my house, and both are perfect. I wonder if people are complaining because there is a lip edging the leather. It is not glue; it must be plastic and it is very intentional. You can barely feel it with your fingers, but I love how it gives a bit of grip to the back edge of the tablet. People are complaining about it because it is not completely flush. There are thousands of products with very intentional and noticeable ridges, lips, etc., and those serve a purpose. My guess is this hard lip protects the edge of the leather from peeling off from daily use, or from curious fingernails obsessing over it and detaching the material. In my honest opinion, it looks great. I inspected it with a magnifying glass, and it looks very well implemented.

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  2 месяца назад +2

      I'll second this. There is an intentional lip around the perimeter of the back edge that does give a bit of an odd feeling as you brush your fingers against it. I'm not a fan, but it doesn't bother me much either. I haven't noticed any actual issues with the build quality.

    I wanna know if you don't mind. the screen is different between the boox note air 3 and Boox Go 10.3. I mean not the color, as far as I know the boox note air 3 has the pre-installed screen protector that make to get paper like feeling in note taking and can remove with hand easily. This is the one thing I don't like. I think it is no premium setup. so, in boox go 10.3, it has a screen protector or non-removable paper-like screen. Also I wanna know also, in low light conditions, the Boox goes 10.3's brightness, what happens with the screen brightness when you use it in low light situations?

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  2 месяца назад +2

      There's no film on the Go 10.3. One viewer noted that the glass was etched which is what gave the writing a scratchy sound, but there's no film. I haven't tested this theory, but I think if you can read a book in the lighting situation where you want to read, then you should be able to use the Go 10.3 despite having no front lighting. I'll test that a bit and talk to that in part III.

    great video as always! is the screen much lighter than the note air c? i love this one as much as the note air 3 c but a bit afraid the air 3 c might be too dark during the day

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  25 дней назад

      Yes. The NA3C has a darker screen due to the color layer that sits on top of the Eink screen. The Go 10.3 doesn't have this, so the screen is much lighter. The same effect can more or less be achieved on the NA3C, but that requires the front lighting to be on which will increase battery drain.

    Never used an Eink device but am considering buying one for my daughter who starts College after the summer. She prefers taking nits with pen and paper as it helps her remember better so I thought a device like this would be a perfect tool för her.
    The device seems very sluggish when you click different icons, is it slow to respond or is it just the video that makes it look like it? Also,MIT seems to flicker from time to time and blink black before settling on the white background?

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  Месяц назад

      It doesn't strike me as being sluggish, but eink sometimes is a touch slower than what you would expect compared to phones or tablets with LCD screens. I will say that when I do top down like this, I sometimes struggle getting the touches right, which is less about the device and more about the awkward angles I am working with. Occasionally the screen is set to auto refresh, and that will cause a flash to the screen. That can actually be controlled in the settings.

    • @AlvenmodFoto
      @AlvenmodFoto Месяц назад

      @@jeffreymoss thank you for a quick response, I want to get a device for my daughter but they are rather pricey and want to make sure I get the right one for her. Primarily the device will be a notetaker as she prefers writing down notes, this will allow her to use one device for all her notes through the years she has in front of her with college and university. Would you recommend this device or should I check out a few others aswell?

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  Месяц назад +1

      @@AlvenmodFoto This is a good device. Another option, and what I use for most of my notes, is the Supernote A5X. However, that model has been discontinued and everyone is waiting on the A5X2 to be released with no sense of when that will actually occur. Another option, one that adds color and front lighting, is the Note Air 3 C, but it's not for everyone. The color layer in particular is somewhat divisive, as it creates a darker background that bothers some. I have a lot of videos on that, but the Go 10.3 is a solid choice and relatively inexpensive compared to others, so you probably don't need to look elsewhere. Front lighting should not be an issue for your daughter for notes, as any environment that allows enough light to take notes on paper will be enough light for the Go.

    • @jeffreymoss

    Can Google Play Books be viewed and annotated upon?

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  Месяц назад

      You can download the Google Play Books app and read your books there, but no annotations other than what the app itself allows (e.g. highlighting). Bigme devices do have a feature that works around that, and I discuss that in this video: ruclips.net/video/ZKDZaU2_EDg/видео.html. But, thus far, Boox has not implemented such a solution.

    8:34 ish Do you know if it is syncing your data files natively or is it converting your notes to something else like pdf's or something?? In other words is this a viable backup of your data in the event you need to recover something, or even an older version of something, assuming there is some sort of versioning going on somewhere

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  2 месяца назад +1

      You can choose how the files export. In my case, I export to Google Drive as PDFs which I can then view there. It only saves one copy of the PDF, so anytime a file is revised, it replaces the old one. That's the same for on the device itself. If that didn't answer your question, let me know and I'll try again.

    • @dannydivine7699
      @dannydivine7699 2 месяца назад

      @@jeffreymoss That's the answer, not exactly what I was hoping for, but the answer. I would certainly like to see a native file backup function, with some versioning included at least to recover a previous version in the event of a major editing snafu. And ideally it would be locally, as well as cloud based in whatever cloud service an individual user is currently using, I myself am a dropbox user vs google drive. But this is going to be a function of the software / firmware on the device. I know I have used several apps in the past that allowed for the selection of my preferred cloud service for the data backup. The pdf export is at least better than nothing, but I'm sure there is loss of functionality when exporting to pdf and then attempting to reimport back from pdf to an editable note file, which may not even be possible, reMarkable can't do it.
      Thanks, I'll be watching for the rest of the series!! Happy 4th of July!!
