Thank you for your detailed review. I am an e-ink reader enthusiast from China, and your review is far better than the so-called "reviews" on Chinese social media that are often filled with praise for new products after receiving sponsorship from manufacturers. Boox has not released a frontlight-free model like the Go10.3 in China, but there are two Chinese brands, Hanwang and IReader, that also offer frontlight-free e-ink readers. The latest models are the Hanwang N10 Pro and the IReader Smart 5 Pro, both featuring 10.3-inch screens with 300ppi. The Hanwang N10 Pro not only lacks a frontlight but also doesn't have a touch layer (it can only be used with a stylus), so theoretically, it has the whitest background. The IReader Smart 5 Pro, on the other hand, is said to feature the new Carta 1300 screen, which has more sharper black text and a flexible screen.
There was an update to the software to 3.5.4 and the latency was reported to be much more improved. I would be keen to know if you test again what speed you get with the latest software. Thanks!
The original Onyx Boox Go 10.3 pen holds very well on the Tab Mini C. So magnets in the pen are strong enough, the problem is more the thin profile of the device. Personally I've swapped the ReMarkable 2 for the Onyx boox Go 10.3 and I'm really satisfied. Thank you so much great review!
Thank you for all the amazing and detailed reviews. All your heard work is appreciated. I just ordered the MDO 2025-2026 and already own the 2023, 2024 MDO and meeting planner. Besides being so helpful it is a way I can support you even if a little. Thanks
This review just pushed me over the edge to finally buy the Go 10.3. This is going to be my first E-ink device (other than a borrowed kindle) but I have wanted something like this since I first saw a ReMarkable ad couple years back.
@@fdmk I have had the Remarkable 2 for a long time (7-9 months ish?). A rechargeable usbc clip on light works wonders for it. I clip it to the folio… but have always gotten sucked into doom scrolling with the iPad. So I am going to order this Boox and sell the iPad….. I plan on keeping my RM2 as I love its simplicity and 95% of the time it’s just for the My Deep Guide organizer and to track my gym time…. Loving how close these two are and think I’d enjoy both. Have you gotten yours yet? How do you like it?
Could you share your experience until now? How smooth is going from one app to the other (for example, going back and forth from web browsing to note taking)?
Amazing review. Been eyeing the device and I'm aware your not shilling it but wow. Just the comprehensiveness of the review and the glee you've presented it with makes me wanna buy the device and that sick keyboard as well.
Thank you :) I ended up buying it after the review, and I haven't regretted it. Instill use my NA3C as a device for lots of stuff, but Go 10.3 for reading and writing is just so enjoyable, it just feels lovely to use, for me at least ;)
WOW!!! I am so impressed by this review. You answered ALL my questions, and I'm now going to place the order for the Boox Go! Brilliant review here, Voja! Thank you so much!
Hi, did you get your Boox? Is the latency really bad as indicated in this review? Does 17ms from Supernote vs 33ms from Boox make a noticeable difference?
@@SpikedSilver Yes, we received the Boox and returned it the next day. Our problem was the file management system. With the Supernote, you can work on highly confidential documents and never have to upload them to "the cloud" and instead simply plug in a USB-C thumb drive and save your work there. With the Boox, this is not possible. Since our company does not allow for the storage of any confidential files in cloud servers, this was the deal-breaker. The latency itself wasn't so bad, and in terms of hardware, we were impressed by the Boox. But we're sticking with the Supernote and are now waiting for the A4 version to come out.
Thanks, but if I was playing the Algo Game, then I'd have to resort to using the "standard approach" of using the clickbait stuff, and that's not something I am interested in doing. I'll do my stuff and how it works, it works 😁
It's such a wonderful device! It's definitely the best screen I've ever used. I hope this puts a fire under the ReMarkable team to do something better for the RM 3...whenever that gets released.
Thanks for the wonderful review. Please keep us updated on the writing latency issue! I also have the device and in less than a day I noticed that in some writing sessions latency feels much better while sometimes it just gets worse.
I am a new subscriber and I just have to say, thank you for such a thorough review. All of your reviews that I have watched are excellent and provide such a wealth of information while remaining balanced. Thank you.
Wonderful editing job. And again, thank you for including chapters. As a happy owner of this device, I didn’t need the review, but it was nice to watch it all.
I've watched many reviews here in RUclips. I just want to thank you for such a great review. In depth but not boring at all. Hope I can procure myself one of these devices in the future.
Great and complete review! For a pure reading experience (comics/mangas/web brosing) do you recommend the Note Air 3 C (even if there is additionnal layer for the frontlight)? I have a "neck reading lamp" to read in the dark , i'm curious about the glare on this screen
Voja you are such a delight, thank you for all of your hard work!! I've been torn between getting the Boox Go 10.3 and waiting for the Supernote a5x2, but now I think I'm going Go all the way.
@@SpikedSilver I bought it and I am enjoying it alot! Taking notes, synching to One Note, sometimes reading a longer blog (which I can't stand on an LCD). There is noticeable latency compared to writing on paper; that hasn't changed with updates, but it's perfectly usable for me.
Thanks for this amazing review. Boox go 10.3 seems great device, i want to use it for reading(pdf, kindle), wrting(notes to replace paper, and assignment,), taking(handwriting, and typing)notes and for drawing sometime. After this video I am quite keen on buying it and trying it myself as there is no demo device on retail store to see if its good fit for me. Once again thanks for the indepth review.

Thank you for this. I had been thinking about the Boox Palma 2, but after watching this, I think maybe this will meet my needs better. And your handwriting is beautiful!
@@ForrestAguirre I have the Boox Palma. I honestly read more on it than I ever have anything else. I ordered the Go 10.3 a few days ago but the Palma is so portable I'll still be carrying it to work instead of the 10.3.
Really good review. I wonder how the device handles an academic workflow, such as annotating PDFs, exporting them (annotations and PDFs), integration with libraries managers such as zotero, etc etc. This is the only thing that holds me against supernote and I think that Boox clearly wins (at least with tablets such as the NA3)
Absolutely, Boox wins hands down in that department, and whenever I need to do any PDF related work, be it study, research, reading or anything like that, I always use a Boox device, and Supernote is my notebook device.
Hi Voja, I love your videos and your scientific approach. I wonder if there is a method to measure the "brightness" of devices (with frontlight off, of course, for those that have it) compared to paper, so that you can have graphs similar to the ones you post (D.E.S.T.A. test and Friction compared to paper test). It would be one more element to evaluate the characteristics of the various products. I would be pleased to hear what you think
wish more was told about lack of frontlight and how it impacts usagel limits of usage inside rooms with typical (not great) lighting or with external lighting that is not directly shining on the screen; can't see it in the chapters - i think there should be separate chapter on this topic; I personally cant use my Note Air1 without frontlight during the day inside the room with natural light; cause natural light just do not shine inside bright enough; similar with artificial ceiling lighting; so for me no frontlight is only good when used outside or inside very close to the window with the device directed at the window so that sun can shine directly on it; otherwise the contrast is just too bad; so im wondering whether Boox Go would have the same problems
Love every review, had to watch even though I knew from the start I wouldn't be buying this - I need front light - but it's a nice glimpse into where the company is going and the new software update. Sad about the Note Air 3 latency update...
Hi between the Note 4 or Go 10.3 you recommend, I'm looking one where I can read and handwrite, create voice notes, have a journal and organize the notes and find things and templates. A nice to have will be one with good writing experience with a keyboard
I broke down (gave up waiting for the SN A5X2) and bought a GO 10.3 and it arrived late yesterday. So far I am pleased with my decision and impressed with the device. Learning how to navigate the BOOX/Android UI will take some time, but I’ve already found some benefits within it. Anyway, I was playing with some different styluses and discovered a unique phenomenon and wonder if you have. If I write some text in the 5 different pen types: ballpoint (8), brush pen (5), (fountain) pen (11), marker (15) and pencil (2) with the standard BOOX stylus and then do the same with the Scribe premium stylus I get a similar look for the ballpoint, brush pen and marker, but a much thinner stroke with fountain pen & pencil using the Scribe. Any idea why this would be?
Yes, it is the calibration and quality of the pressure sensitivity driver within the pen itself. Kindle Scribe pen is of a much better quality, and has a different pressure sensitivity curve than the default pen from Boox. As such, it offers a much more usable pressure range.
Hello, the devices by onyx seem very good! I have heard a lot of complaints about quality control and support afterwards? Have you had any experience with that?
I have a question about Go 10.3 for reading PDFs: I am in the market for my first eink tablet and will mainly be using mine for reading and annotating PDFs, epubs and Word documents. I have narrowed my choice down to the Go 10.3 and NA3. I like the sleek design and display of the 10.3 but I don't like the way the screen seems to flash (refresh?) when I see people turning pages on PDFs on RUclips reviews. Given that I am new to this area and have never used one in person I am not sure if I have the language down to describe my concern but I saw on a another video on this channel comparing the NA3 and NA3c and Voja was able to mostly get rid of the flashing that happened by enabling the speed mode on the NA3. Is that possible on the Go 10.3? Thanks in advance!
Thank you Voya. You delivered it again, as did boox with this GO 10.3. What's your thought on adding a paperlike screen protector to even improve writing feel and adding extra protection? Or would that be just adding a layer without much value added?
@Voja - I followed a lot of your videos since couple of years ago. This is why I bought the supernote a5x (in 2023). Would you trade your supernote a5x for Boox Go 10.3? Should I sell mine and get Boox Go? Thank you!
@MyDeepGuide In video at 38:04 you said that notebook capabilities are not excelent as it is with supernote. Can you hint what is advantage of supernote comparing to the this one in terms of writing in notebook? I understand that boox is more versatile than supernote, than I am bit confused. Maybe you can make some comparison between supernote and this one in future... Thank you for very good reviews of the tablets, you do great work!
Hey man, thank you for such a detailed review. In two days Onyx is gonna show us something new. I'm counting on T10C aka Go 10.3 Colour. If there won't be such device I'm buying 10.3, as it seems perfect for my needs (work notes, self notes, song lyrics - especially when i can also record guitar or a melody :)).
Waiting on the SN a5x2, but this looks like the first Book device good enough to consider as well. However the notetaking options are the single most omportant thing to me. Does this have any feature like SNs digest that lets me cut sections from tons of different pdfs, let me notate over those selections, and build them into a single notebook to work from (as well as paste them i to other notebooks) as well as link directly back to the pdfs they were cut from originally?
Hi Voja, I probably gonna buy a GO 10.3 but i am unsure about the data transferring procedure. Right now I am still using a 6 years old Onyx Boox Note and I have a huge amount of notes and PDF files (sometimes with notes). I have two questions for now: Will I still be able to continue writing on my old document/notepad with the new device? (If the document is transferred as for instance PDF, I couldn't continue writing on my document.) I also have a lot of bookshelfs: Is there a way to transfer them to the new device as well? Can you answer these questions? It would be of tremendous help!🥳 Thank you for your assistance and keep up the good work.👍 Sincerely, Steffen
Thank you! I already have it but I felt I would learn something anyway. I don't really feel the latency problem but I never really felt on any of the Boox devices (Note Air, Note Air 2 Plus). It's not a surprise when we know that a ms is a second divided by... a thousand.
I have the tablet (Boox Go 10.3) for a week, once fully charged from 24% to 100% and now I can feel how the adhesive under the leather back has apparently come loose: It makes noises when I press on it and I can also feel a slight bump when I run my hand over it. Against the light I can see a slight unevenness on the gray metal strip on the back. Minimal, but its there. Very hard to make a photo of it. However it lies flat on the table and doesn't wobble so it's most probably not the battery that has somehow inflated. 😕
Great review!! Your commentary is very helpful. I have bought the Boox Go 10.3 a few days ago and I really like it compared to the Boox Note Air 3C device. The writing is so crisp even though it doesn't have front light. The only thing is I can't seem to make the highlighting work in this device as it covers up the writing. I don't have this problem in Supernote.
@ The latency is not an issue. I'm on firmware 3.5.4 - the latest firmware 4 for the new Boox devices are not yet available for existing devices. For pure notetaking I prefer Supernote. The screen for Boox Go is a bit more slippery compared to Supernote, even though I've tried different pens and pen tips. I also miss the features like gestures, highlighting, headings, keywords and star in Supernote. Therefore I use Supernote for notetaking, to do functions. There are more use cases on Boox which is the reason why I got it, so I can do more things like read PDF on a bigger screen and also access the apps. One of the purpose for using both is to help my eyes and reduce eye strain.
I wonder whether it has better contrast than E-ink monitors such as boox mira and dasung hd-ft. I own dasung paperlike of the first generation (2015) and it has lighter background than paperlike of the last generation. It is laggy, of course, sometimes it disconnects, but still more comfortable to look at. Good contrast and light background are so important for e-ink.
Thank you so much for this guide! As a black and white photographer, I was wondering, especially seeing you showcasing photography on this device, this looks very much like a grayscale depth of 256? As a photographer, being able to showcasing my work on this tablet without any banding would be absolutely great!!!
I'm delighted with my Boox Go 10.3 After being with it for a couple of weeks now, I'm seeking to improve the writing experience with different pen nibs. The Boox tips that come with the box are quite hard and tippy tappy without being scratch (gel pen/glassy feel), but the ones that come with the Staedler noris digital jumbo are a little too soft and silky(very little feedback). I'm after a Goldilocks nib somewhere in between, that feels more like a pencil. The best writing experience I had was nova air C with a doodroo screen and a titanium-nibbed staedler noris digital, so it might be that I need to explore a different screen protector to get the effect that I want. Welcome replies with recommendations.
Hi, first of all thanks for all the awesome in depth analysis of all this eink products, it really helps us make an informed decision about our purchases. Maybe you had already answered this question and I missed it and if not, since you do music things you can help me. What do you think is the best eink device for music studying, reading staffs and scores and writing scores? my options are the boox go 10.3 or the supernote a6x2, I have an ipad and I’ve done work in there but i feel i could benefit for having a eink device for this uses. Thanks again for everything you do :)
Thank you for the great review. I am loving the 10.3. First boox device for me. Also have the a5x and a6x2. Making this my daily driver right now. As you said it's for those with a specific use case scenario. I am using it to read and study while writing on on my RM2. I need the large screen to read with due to my old eyes. I have had this for a few weeks and still learning things. I also like writing on it which i do when writing casually. Will probably sell the a6x2 eventually just because the small screen doesn't meet my needs. Thanks again for this. Currently the only thing i an having trouble with is trying to figure out how to print from the device itself with A5 side paper. When trying to print from the device it gives me a choice to pick size of paper i am using but currently can only get it to print in letter. I am sure it's something I am doing wrong. Again, loving this device.
I was wondering what you guys thought about the difference writing on this vs. the supernote? I have the nomad, and think the writing experience is good on the supernote, but was impressed with this review. Is this worth spending another $300 plus on?
Hello! A quick question, if I may… how grey and dim is the tablet’s screen compared to a plain sheet of white paper? I ask because on most reviews for e-ink tablets without backlighting, the screen appears quite brighter than I’ve found to be the case. I’d purchased a Remarkable 2 shortly after it was released and returned it because the screen was a much darker grey colour than it appeared on the ad, and I’ve seen several Remarkable 2’s since then whose screens all look the same as the one I bought. Thanks in advance!
How smooth is the going back and forth from one app to the other (switching every few minutes)? For example, reading a book and taking notes (not in a split screen).
No sd card?...substandard case with no yoga foldability?....no volume adjustment rocker for audible books?....it won't connect to my airpods?... I'm sending it back.
Hello Voja ! thank you so much for your reviews. Would love to hear your opinion how this compares to NA3 not just NA3c. I own an NA3 and since the launch of go 10.3 i ve been torn if i should sell mine and replace it with the go. I never use the backlight so i m wondering if thts would be an upgrade ? Thank u !
Excellent review, thank you. Do you think the Boox GO 10.3 could be a valid alternative to the Supernote A5X (A5X2), considering that I need to create indexes and chapters in my notes? (I know I can't create indexes and chapters like in the Supernote A5x, but is it possible to do it in a similar way?)
You can use a combination of naming single pages (and then viewing thumbnails) and keywords/tags, but if you need a more direct way to access pages/parts of a notebook you could also employ links between pages and create an overview page at the start of each notebook, for example. As much as I like the heading function on my Nomad, I do miss naming specific pages there.
This regression in writing latency is a great pity. They had done so well with the Note Air 3 C but then things only went backwards again. This confirms my assumption at the time that the extra GPU (BSR) played a major role in the low writing latency on the NA3C. If only it weren't for the enormous battery consumption...
Hello, I'm ready to order a go 10.3, but I'm still wondering about night reading. Do you have experience of lighting with the little led lamps with clips that you use to read a book? Will the reading experience be good? I'm wondering about reflections or lighting homogeneity, for example? Thanks for your help
Abt 52:00 | The typing experience on keyboards: * Correct me , if I am wrong, but the speed and precision looks , to me, the same , when you were testing with bluetooth keyboard versus this OTG-based mechanical ? I mean the Boox display was showing the characters with the same speed, is it? (Of course, typing on physical keyboard overall would give different experience, it's a matter of taste, but just about displaying that all on this Go 10.3, it would be not make the difference)
Of course it is, as the bottleneck will always be the e-ink screen refresh speed, so any difference between wireless or wired input will never be perceptible, as the screen refresh speed will be slower than either of the two.
Thanks for giving such great in-depth reviews! This device is sooo enticing. As are the features hopefully coming in the Supernote A5X. I’m going to need to replace my reMarkable 2 at some point…which to choose!!?! 🤔 My primary use case is for note taking. I wonder how many of the things Boox introduced with this device that reMarkable was planning as a “big release” with their reMarkable 3? And wonder if reMarkable is now scrambling on how to market their next reMarkable device, or if there will be one.
I honestly don't know, but they have to do something meaningful, both on the hardware and software side of things, in order to be competitive. It shouldn't take too much, because the platform already has a good focus, and a big community, so all they need to do is listen to the community and play to their strengths. Unfortunately, update 3.12 has shown that they aren't doing any of that, so hopefully this device is something that will force them to reevaluate decisions that led to the platform regressions we've seen introduced with that update.
copy a small handful of features from boox/supernote - links/headers etc mainly, handwriting search would be a bonus - should be doable in software ‘relatively’ easily even on RM2. But they seem focused on the analog/digital thing and simplicity above all so maybe they aren’t interested in bringing features like that?
❓Also, since you own Note Air 3 (C) how do you think the lack of fingerprint button on GO10 impacts the security of the device if stolen? Is it possible to have a multi-users scenario on NA3 and GO10 for each user to have a separate collection of books and apps installed?
Question - Will notes created in a Boox TUC transfer over to a Go 10.3? Not concerned about color loss but need my notebooks and not as pdf converted. I'm asking this because I have a TUC, use it almost every day and take with me most of the time, but dropped it a little too often without the case on so considering getting a new tablet.
thank you for this guide! i am actually in between go 10.3 or supernote a5x2 (when it releases), what do you think in terms of specs and similarly with the nomad? if you could make a separate video of showing the go 10.3 performing with kindle and mangas, that would awesome! thanks voja
I'm wondering if you use screen protectors or something similar. Does anyone have experience? Are there screen protectors for the Go 10.3 that feel like paper? should you use this? Thank you for your great videos!!
Brother, can you please do an analysis of the various pens and pen tips and find out what they actually cost to manufacture? That would be a pretty interesting exposé.
I want to get an e note taker for the sole purpose of journaling/writing. Is the writing feel/responsiveness for this better, or the supernote nomad? Does anyone know what's the best for this sole reason alone? Thank you very much!
Excellent review as usual ..thank you so much ...I have one question..is it possible to move notes pages between notebooks in different folders ? , it happens all the time that I have to write a note on the go on whichever note book is open and then I need to move it to it's relevant notebook and folder
Hej Voja, I see people complaining that they cannot install Google Drive on this device - do you know anything about it? What about sharing screen with your notes as an integration into a workspace? Other than that, great device - thanks a lot for such super detailed review 🎉
New Go 10.3 owner - can confirm that the Google Drive integration is not working for me and this was my primary use case for the tablet. Other integrations that I use work fine (Zotero, Dropbox). If I can't get it working the tablet will be going back.
We bought the Boox GO 10.3 but had to return it. When we tried to transfer our work in NOTES from the Boox onto a USB-C thumb driver and onto an SD card attached through the same port hub, there was NO option to do so. NOTES will not allow you to save, export, or copy anything onto the external drive, even though both the thumb drive and the SD card were recognized by the Boox device itself. THAT is a deal-breaker.
Of course you can. You simply need to export the notes, and you can export them in several different ways. Have you tried reading the User Manual before returning the product?
In my place Go 10.3 150$ pricier than the actual price. Is it still worth it? Other onyx in the same price range is note air 3, and tab ultra bw/c. Any suggestions?
Thanks for watching :) I understand, but this device is not meant to do that, so there is no point in testing it. If you want to watch videos, then you need to look at a different device.
@@MyDeepGuide There are as many use cases as there are users. Of course I'd never watch a Netflix movie on an e-ink device, but these are great for meditation and yoga videos when you don't want distractions.
Weird that my comment about watching yoga and meditation videos disappeared. I have dumb phone to reduce my screen time. This is why I use my eink device for guided meditations and yoga. Boox Palma was great for that use because of the BSR, but otherwise it was pretty buggy (apps crashing etc.) and of course, small. This is why I was interested in the video performance. But I saw a video about it elsewhere, and the performance is surprisingly good. Eink devices can be great for consuming videos with information mainly on the audio track (speeches, lectures, tutorials etc.).
Hello! Which of all ereaders has the best screen quality (sharpness, contrast, crispest)? I understand those without backlighting, but is there really a big difference, e.g., between the Poke 2, and the Kobo Clara BW or Boox Go 10.3? I have already Poke 2 and thinking about changing to smth crisper :)
For me, currently it has to be the Box Go 10.3, but there are a couple of new devices coming out soon which might challenge that, so we'll see how that evolves :)
Do you know if Boox has any plans to launch an app that syncs all notes, like Remarkable's app? That's really all I'm waiting for before I switch from Remarkable.
Ok I see at 35:10, you mention it doesn’t eat nibs as fast. Thank you. I may just go for this one. I have the kobo Libra Colour and the pen nibs haven’t worn out for me. I unfortunately did drop it which caused indentation. Now I have been more careful and the nib looks great for me. I was so hesitant after hearing a couple of people say that the scribe pen nibs wear down after a month. I don’t think I press heavy but I do like taking lots of notes
Hi, do you know if you can write/annotate in e-books while using the Kobo app on this device or the note air 3c? Something like on the Kobo libra color?

Thank you for your in depth review. Trusted and unmatched in depth and breadth. Can't wait for the Note Air with the new screen.
What a great review. A template to how reviews should be.
Hope the YT algo picks you up soon.
Thanks, but if I was playing the Algo Game, then I'd have to resort to using the "standard approach" of using the clickbait stuff, and that's not something I am interested in doing. I'll do my stuff and how it works, it works 😁
@@MyDeepGuide Godspeed to you!
It's such a wonderful device! It's definitely the best screen I've ever used. I hope this puts a fire under the ReMarkable team to do something better for the RM 3...whenever that gets released.
Has the latency improved with the new software update?
thank you! i have been waiting for your review for so long!!
Thanks for the wonderful review. Please keep us updated on the writing latency issue! I also have the device and in less than a day I noticed that in some writing sessions latency feels much better while sometimes it just gets worse.
@@renatoprisco5356 i would also like to know the situation now before buying
I am a new subscriber and I just have to say, thank you for such a thorough review. All of your reviews that I have watched are excellent and provide such a wealth of information while remaining balanced. Thank you.
i was waiting for a release of this device for a while now and i just ordered one! cannot wait to start using it :) thank you for a great review!
How are you finding it? Any issues? Has the latency improved with the new software update?
I wish Boox had a similar commitment to repairability that we see with the Supernote.
Wonderful editing job. And again, thank you for including chapters. As a happy owner of this device, I didn’t need the review, but it was nice to watch it all.
do you advise a student to buy it ?
Hi Voya, did you notice any improvements in latency after installing the most recent software update?
Could you please make a comparison of the SuperNote a6x2 nomad VS. the boox go 10.3?
+1 , that would be great. Interested as well

You've pushed me over the edge, shunted me!:D This is it, I'm buying it. Excellent video.
Have you bought it? How are you finding it? Any issues? Has the latency improved with the new software update?

Mine's arriving in two days! Don't know why I'm so excited, I'll mostly just be studying with it.
Hey! Studying is exciting! :D
How is it going with the device? Any issues you are having? Is the latency improved on the latest software?
wish more was told about lack of frontlight and how it impacts usagel limits of usage inside rooms with typical (not great) lighting or with external lighting that is not directly shining on the screen; can't see it in the chapters - i think there should be separate chapter on this topic; I personally cant use my Note Air1 without frontlight during the day inside the room with natural light; cause natural light just do not shine inside bright enough; similar with artificial ceiling lighting; so for me no frontlight is only good when used outside or inside very close to the window with the device directed at the window so that sun can shine directly on it; otherwise the contrast is just too bad; so im wondering whether Boox Go would have the same problems
Yes it is :)
@@MyDeepGuide thank you 🙏🙂
Very nice review like always. I don't need the device but I wanted it
You need to buy a paper magnetic thing to expose the magnet position, specially to see the impact the magnets have on the writing
Sure, or maybe just test the real-world impact and real-world effect it will have in an everyday use case scenario ;)
Joy is a perfect summary. I alway have a happy grin on my face when I turn it on!
Awesome review, as always. Nobody goes into as much detail as you do. My Boox Go 10.3 arrives tomorrow... I can't wait to try it out!
Have you bought it? How are you finding it? Any issues? Had the latency improved with the new software update?
Thank you Voya. You delivered it again, as did boox with this GO 10.3.
What's your thought on adding a paperlike screen protector to even improve writing feel and adding extra protection? Or would that be just adding a layer without much value added?
The vinyl covering on the back isn't glued properly. I would insure this for failure for 3 years if you can. Mine is going back.
I prefer using book lights to backlights tbh. So backlight is a con for me too
Im not a freak about buttons, but man would I love if every button in my life felt like the power button on this device
@Voja - I followed a lot of your videos since couple of years ago. This is why I bought the supernote a5x (in 2023). Would you trade your supernote a5x for Boox Go 10.3? Should I sell mine and get Boox Go? Thank you!
Great and thorough review as usual. If Voya received a dollar each time he says “actually” and “itself”, he would be rich by now!
LOL! I love his face when says actually. (of course he is an amazing reviewer)
Well nope, not this time :)
Hi Voja,
I probably gonna buy a GO 10.3 but i am unsure about the data transferring procedure. Right now I am still using a 6 years old Onyx Boox Note and I have a huge amount of notes and PDF files (sometimes with notes).
I have two questions for now: Will I still be able to continue writing on my old document/notepad with the new device? (If the document is transferred as for instance PDF, I couldn't continue writing on my document.)
I also have a lot of bookshelfs: Is there a way to transfer them to the new device as well?
Can you answer these questions? It would be of tremendous help!🥳
Thank you for your assistance and keep up the good work.👍
Sincerely,
Steffen
Thank you! I already have it but I felt I would learn something anyway. I don't really feel the latency problem but I never really felt on any of the Boox devices (Note Air, Note Air 2 Plus). It's not a surprise when we know that a ms is a second divided by... a thousand.
thanks for your work and thoroughness...a joy to see your joy...
Thanks for the review! Was wondering, does it work well with previous/other boox covers, or is the added thinness preventing that?
Great review!! Your commentary is very helpful. I have bought the Boox Go 10.3 a few days ago and I really like it compared to the Boox Note Air 3C device. The writing is so crisp even though it doesn't have front light. The only thing is I can't seem to make the highlighting work in this device as it covers up the writing. I don't have this problem in Supernote.
Has the latency improved with the new software update? How do you compare it to the Supernote? Which do you prefer using?
Im soooo tempted by this, but I’ll stay strong and wait for the 300ppi note
Could be 1 year wait
@ Im also not getting one as long as they don’t catch up to kindle’s front light quality. I’ll keep my note 2+
Such a great review, thanks for sharing it!
You may want to try felt nibs eg with the Wacom One pencil (the black and white one).

Thanks in advance!
thanks for the wonderful review ❤
How smooth is the going back and forth from one app to the other (switching every few minutes)? For example, reading a book and taking notes (not in a split screen).
May I ask, when using bluetooth keyboard, do you have any issue with the on screen keyboard popping up? does it depend on the app you are using?
No sd card?...substandard case with no yoga foldability?....no volume adjustment rocker for audible books?....it won't connect to my airpods?... I'm sending it back.
Hello Voja ! thank you so much for your reviews. Would love to hear your opinion how this compares to NA3 not just NA3c. I own an NA3 and since the launch of go 10.3 i ve been torn if i should sell mine and replace it with the go. I never use the backlight so i m wondering if thts would be an upgrade ? Thank u !
300 ppi vs 227 ppi and no BSR (more battery life). I'd say save your money and wait for NA4 or what will be the next move for Boox.
Thank you for your information.
@@julieparadise9694 that's very useful information
This regression in writing latency is a great pity. They had done so well with the Note Air 3 C but then things only went backwards again. This confirms my assumption at the time that the extra GPU (BSR) played a major role in the low writing latency on the NA3C. If only it weren't for the enormous battery consumption...
agree
the writing latency is a shame
same as on note air 3 (bw)
Is it better or worse than Remarkable 2 ?
@@rabin_john Regarding the writing latency: Worse. The NA3C was double as fast and much better than the RM2.
Updates made it much faster; i have no Numbers but its not slower than the Scribe now 👍
Is it faster than the boox tab ultra
Hello, I'm ready to order a go 10.3, but I'm still wondering about night reading. Do you have experience of lighting with the little led lamps with clips that you use to read a book? Will the reading experience be good? I'm wondering about reflections or lighting homogeneity, for example? Thanks for your help
With the no front light…does that mean you can’t use it in a dark room? I read in bed and don’t keep lights on to let my wife sleep.
Thank you for your toughtful review!
Abt 52:00 | The typing experience on keyboards:
* Correct me , if I am wrong, but the speed and precision looks , to me, the same , when you were testing with bluetooth keyboard versus this OTG-based mechanical ? I mean the Boox display was showing the characters with the same speed, is it? (Of course, typing on physical keyboard overall would give different experience, it's a matter of taste, but just about displaying that all on this Go 10.3, it would be not make the difference)
Of course it is, as the bottleneck will always be the e-ink screen refresh speed, so any difference between wireless or wired input will never be perceptible, as the screen refresh speed will be slower than either of the two.
@@MyDeepGuide Got it, thanks
Great review as always! Takk :)
Btw, nice watch strap! cordovan?
Thanks a lot for the review Voja!
Quick question: do you feel it is necessary or advisable to use a screen protector? Thanks!
Thank you for the review. what would you suggest as a reading device between the air 3 C or Go 10.3?
I hope they release the GO 13.3 version. I definitely will buy that.
Yes it's out in 2025 called boox note max ( 6gb ram 128 SSD , BSR android 14 )
Thanks for giving such great in-depth reviews!
This device is sooo enticing. As are the features hopefully coming in the Supernote A5X.
I’m going to need to replace my reMarkable 2 at some point…which to choose!!?! 🤔
My primary use case is for note taking.
If you use the same Boox account and server, and you have synchronized them, then yes.
Amazing keyboard-pad setup.
thank you for this guide! i am actually in between go 10.3 or supernote a5x2 (when it releases), what do you think in terms of specs and similarly with the nomad? if you could make a separate video of showing the go 10.3 performing with kindle and mangas, that would awesome! thanks voja
I'm wondering if you use screen protectors or something similar. Does anyone have experience? Are there screen protectors for the Go 10.3 that feel like paper? should you use this? Thank you for your great videos!!
So will there be a 13.3 Version (with a good software) the tax x was awful!
Hello , nice review 👍 . Do you suggest some website that we can download more templates for go 10.3 ? Thanks
They should make something like this in 8" size
Thank you for the review! It would've been nice to see the video performance.
I totally understand, and agree, but my point still stands. If you want to watch videos, then you should look at a different device.
@@MyDeepGuide Thank you! But is it a big difference? Poke 2 Vs 10.3?
To me, yes. But how can you compare a 6" and a 10.3" screen? I mean, the difference is going to be huge no matter what...
I found the kindle reader very buggy and klunky...not a smooth, intuative experience. Is the Note Air 3 better than this?
Do you know if Boox has any plans to launch an app that syncs all notes, like Remarkable's app? That's really all I'm waiting for before I switch from Remarkable.
boox own cloud does this. you can also easily connect google drive to it
Is the pen that comes with the tablet compatible with Wacom Standard Nibs?
can you please check the latency after the new update. thanks
Do you have to change the pen nibs often? I want to use this device mainly for notetaking
I had kobo libra colur. It was comfortable to hold in the bed and it has frontlight. I didn't like it grayi
greyish colour. And the text a little bit blurry... Otherwise it's perfect for reading at night.
