@@Driven-Productions very very reliable. I do preventive maintenance myself. The biggest iissue I had was with smg seal gasket for the solenoids that was leaking so the transmission has to come out. I did it myself and only cost me $40 plus two hours of my time. If you take it to the shop, they will probably not know how to fix it but instead telling you that you need a complete new hydraulic unit which is $6,000. While I had the transmission out, I replaced all the seal including not limited to clutch solenoid, actuator block solenoid, hydraulic pump seals and put in new chf12s fluids plus transmission fluid, all of which cost me only $180. And my transmission is running like new. The failing seal wouldn’t have happsnd if I didn’t mess with the smg fluid but i thought it was due for a change at 120,000 miles and three days later my smg losing pressure like there is no tomorrow nor this wouldn’t have happened if I change smg fluid every 50,000 miles. Oh well, I live and learn
This generation of M6 2-door coupe is probably my dream car. It’s the perfect under-the-radar sports car. Luxurious, fast, fun, reliable, and it’s gorgeous
Very few well maintained low mileage M6’s on the market right now, plenty of them with 60.000+ miles but most are the 2013-2016 which are the least desirable for this M6. 2017-2019 M6’s are very few and far between and more often then not they were sadly abused with next to no maintenance done to them or were caught up in an accident. But if you are lucky you should be able to snag a 30k mile 2018 M6 comp for around $50,000 which is a very good deal, considering the next best thing would be a mildly used 2020 M850i but they sell for around $70,000 on the low end.
Nicely done video and I believe you covered a lot of good points. But im assuming most who are looking at this video are hoping to get a pre-owned m6 GC in the future so I will offer some comments as well (I own 2, one for me and my missus. Both with the comp pkg). ~ Car is a 2016 in the video, not sure why commentator kept saying it was a 2014 (easy way to tell is the laminated glass center screen). ~ If you're currently looking to buy one, don't go for the comp pkg and don't get one with carbon ceramics. Comp pkg makes the car hella unsettled on the road and on long drives the stiff suspension is a bit too much. I originally test drove a base m6 and the suspension and comfort is so much better. I recommend going for the base trim and doing an ECU flash tune. With carbon ceramics, don't waste your money. You're not driving on the autobahn and you're definitely not going to track this (way too large to have fun). It may look worth it when you're comparing prices for the initial car purchase but you'll dish out a fortune to replace them when their worn down. ~ Commentator made a great point that this is great when you're not in traffic. There's no break hold option on the m6 and with the DCT the car is tiring in stop and go traffic. Also, all F generation M models don't come with adaptive cruise so driver assistance is non-existant. ~ Car is literally made for highway cruising but horrible for fun back country roads. Don't get me wrong you'll still have a great time but the car is too heavy and too large to yeet it in the corners. ~ The back seats are NOT good for adults unless you're 5'5 and below. Im 5'9 and when I first sat in the back I also thought, "wow this is not bad at all", completely wrong. Had my wifey drive me home from work one day and I sat in the back for 30 minutes, had a whole week of horrible back and neck pain as a result. ~ If you know a good third party warranty company, try to get one that covers electronics. Never had any issues with engine or injectors during ownership but had a plethora of electrical issues that add up over time and kills your ownership cost. (window buttons failed on both my cars, rear sunshades stopped working at 40k miles, had to replace my idrive unit (2k out of pocket), volume mapping for my B&O reset three times). Plus, a M6 is not like a M3, much less people own an m6 and many dealers don't have any basic parts for the car. I had my car at the dealership for 4 months last year just because they had to custom order and ship parts from Germany. ~ Unless you find one with a M sports exhaust, I would say the M6 sounds quieter than other M cars. Some hate that some love it. But, if you want loud consider some reputable aftermarket exhaust systems. ~ Aftermarket mods for the M6 is frankly ass and overpriced. Any aftermarket carbon exterior/interior mods are hella expensive and options are limited. Hell, I even dished out 2.3k for a Vorsteiner rear CF diffuser and it didn't even have good fitment. ~ Vehicle virgins and other YT reviews state to not buy this for places with rain or snow. Nah, I live in Seattle where it rains 24/7 and I have no problem daily driving it. Heck my wife drives hers fine and she sucks at driving. Just be sensible, respect the drive, and have good throttle control. Obviously, if you live in like Montana, you won't be able to drive this in the winter. ~ Last but not least, find one with the upgraded Bang & Olufsen system. The sound quality is marginally better for non-audiophiles but in the end of the day it gives you good clout and just a bit better resale value down the line. Overall, if you've been eyeing one, i'd say even now with pandemic pricing, the m6's on the market are going for decent prices and you should go for it. But make sure to do your research and try to find warranty coverage.

M6 competition coupe is the only version of the M6 id consider since it has the most power and the least amount of weight. The rest are drastically more heavy with less power putting them in line with today M240i which is an eye opener. The M8 comp that replaced this vehicle is still a solid second faster. Only issue is finding a well maintained low mileage M6 competition coupe is quite difficult since the competition models didn’t sell very well and majority of the M6 was sold as the 4 door varient.
I think the two door is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. But I can’t get myself to buy one with all the problems with the engine even though I’ve been working on cars for 20 years

I just got a 2013 640i Gran Coupe. The owner took very good care of it. I love every touchpoint of this car. It came without the manuals so I have a couple questions that I hope you can help me with. It says that the interior has ambiance lighting - like amber, but I cannot find how to activate it. Would you happen to know? BTW, Love your vid on the 2014 version.
Probably in the infotainment system, though it's very likely you've already searched there. Google the manual of the car, you usually can find a digital version.
I found my 2015 640i by destiny on Facebook marketplace at a dealership, it waS a repo. A female had it and was treated it badly. It had front end damage previously i could tell the hood wasn't perfectly sealed, but it was not easy to notice. I get alot of compliments and looks while im rolling. I just changed the taillights to smoked black❤. Soon i will install the carbon fiber hood and led steering wheel
Great review! Been eyeing an M6 for awhile. But to name a better daily with the sprinkle of chaos, I would say the Porsche Macan Turbo. AWD, more space, agile, and over 400 HP!

If I could justify the fuel costs (I live in the UK) I would have an M6. I currently own a 2012 640d Gran Coupe, which I fitted with KW V2 coilovers, 20" Japan Racing wheels (to replace the buckled and cracked OEM 20" wheels) with Michelin PS4S tyres. I love the car, apart from the UK roads being terrible with potholes causing regular cracks and buckles to my wheels (I know I'm not alone in having to deal with this). My 640d gets me so much of what makes the M6 great, with great fuel economy too (great for a 300bhp+ car). Plenty of speed and power, plenty of comfort and luxury, and no issues in 18 months of ownership apart from the UK's potholes 😞

This car is one of the most beautiful saloons of all, inside and outside. These pictures don't do it justice. The perspective of the shots does not convey just how lowslung and wide it is. The performance is phenomenal. The only thing I'm not so sure about is the sound...sounds a bit like a four...
I totally agree on the new grill design being ugly compared to the previous style.......with the exception of the X5, and X6 ! I think the new style grill fits those two vehicles better.

No problem@@Driven-Productions. As an owner of a manual 2015 M6 Gran Coupe, I 100% agree with your review. The M6 is one of the better BMW M cars ever built but also one of the most forgotten. I also agree that the G80 M3 looks good except for that awful front grill that has never grown on me.
Stunning looking car..with some of the worst gas mileage you will ever encounter..I would buy one but that fuel economy would bankrupt me within 2 years
Take it easy and cruise on the highway and you can get low 20’s which ain’t terrible for a car with this level of hp. If you blast it all the time yeah expect 12-14.
Idk why BMW does carbon fiber roof’s id rather have a full panorama sunroof They should do a carbon fiber hood instead Or it least have a sunroof cutout with the carbon fiber roof
body stiling in my opinion is one of the best ever created by BMW, but technology is kinda old and there is no awd, which means that not that easy on tires :D

Depends - do you like performance in turns or comfort? The S63 is fast, but its a luxury car first. The M6 is a performance sedan first, with a lot of luxury too.

Aside from having the same engine and being better looking than the new generation, these M’s had the DCT manual double clutch trans whereas tthe new lot have a slush box torque converter 🤮

I think when you name a car a coupe but it's got 4 doors you've announced that you've lost your marbles. Probably just after you start pumping fake engine noises into the cabin through the speakers.
The two we owned were both issue free, sorry you had a poor experience. Def have to do your research on the models and make sure service was done consistently.

The flashing light in the dash I believe your referring to as a CEL is actually the traction control light. It flashes momentarily just after he goes into sport mode and accelerates into a curve which caused the rear-end to get loose for a split second which caused the light to flash in the dash.

My understanding is that the 6 series is built on the 5 series chassis, not the 7 as stated

I have had a 2015 640i that I loved and used daily for 7 years .. now I want to buy an 2015 M6, but I have seen an M850i on the market with much lower mileage and 5 years younger .. can you help me decide between the M6 and the M850i? Thanks in advance.
I’m just not a fan of the new refreshed body style of the 8 series. I think value wise an older 6 is safer

The M6 Gran Coupe is BMWs greatest design. A looker for sure

This car is one of the most beautiful saloons of all, inside and outside. These pictures don't do it justice. The perspective of the shots does not convey just how lowslung and wide it is. The performance is phenomenal. The only thing I'm not so sure about is the sound...sounds a bit like a four...

I totally agree on the new grill design being ugly compared to the previous style.......with the exception of the X5, and X6 ! I think the new style grill fits those two vehicles better.

The F12/F13/F06 generation was produced from 2011 to 2018 and is often collectively referred to as the F12.”
No problem@@Driven-Productions. As an owner of a manual 2015 M6 Gran Coupe, I 100% agree with your review. The M6 is one of the better BMW M cars ever built but also one of the most forgotten. I also agree that the G80 M3 looks good except for that awful front grill that has never grown on me.

Stunning looking car..with some of the worst gas mileage you will ever encounter..I would buy one but that fuel economy would bankrupt me within 2 years
Take it easy and cruise on the highway and you can get low 20’s which ain’t terrible for a car with this level of hp. If you blast it all the time yeah expect 12-14.

You hit the nail on the head bro I’m telling you that new kidney grill looks terrible yes this car right here is the sexiest car then the other one I would like to have an eight that’s gonna be my next one or the TwinTurbo V8 what does ZO7 kit on it but I have my competition cartoon with less than 2000 miles on it I got it a woman’s house I was working at her husband passed away and I’ve been working here for a long time doing service calls electrical stuff that’s what I was electrical subcontractor I’m Kevin Harvick‘s personal electrician I do a lot of work for NASCAR drivers and teams but anyways that’s besides the point I got the car for one hell of a deal and it’s still brand new and I’m getting ready to turn that thing into a massive hot rod

Since mine never had any issues, was a $150 oil change at BMW.

Depends - do you like performance in turns or comfort? The S63 is fast, but its a luxury car first. The M6 is a performance sedan first, with a lot of luxury too.

What are you talking about? The gearbox is fine around town. Its perfect. I suggest there's something wrong with the gearbox if your having issues because you shouldn't

Aside from having the same engine and being better looking than the new generation, these M’s had the DCT manual double clutch trans whereas tthe new lot have a slush box torque converter 🤮
Trans in these were incredible. Didn’t know the new ones have a single clutch torque converter. Appreciate sharing that

Where do you see a check engine light? There were no lights if I recall on this drive. Drove the car yesterday all was 👌
The flashing light in the dash I believe your referring to as a CEL is actually the traction control light. It flashes momentarily just after he goes into sport mode and accelerates into a curve which caused the rear-end to get loose for a split second which caused the light to flash in the dash.
