My husband and I will be going through this in about four or five years. Our land is near Sarteneja, currently no road access, which may change as the main road is upgraded. I'll be keeping an eye on your progress. Thank you for sharing your experience and valuable advice. I'm sure I'm going to need it!

Congratulations, Jamie, on the progress you're making toward getting your tiny home constructed. What you've been going through reminds me of two of Murphy's Laws: 1. Everything takes longer than you think it will. 2. Nothing is as easy as it looks. You will get there eventually, Jamie, so stay strong, and optimistic, and keep on keeping on!

🥳 On the Mortgage process being completed! It really does feel like a neverending process, doesn't it? I really love this video because it gives first time loan applicants and homeowners/builders a realistic view of the process. I think if we were trying to build even 3 years ago the cost would have been significantly less, price of materials have skyrocketed in the last two years alone. Can't wait to be able to sit and charlar more about all this. ❤️

2 40ft shipping containers, add a few Concrete post, 2 doors 4 windows, $8k home solar panels, remodel the inside add wood to the outside. Forever home under $50k usd easy. Bigger & stronger than a wooden tiny home. I love your videos

Thanks! I really would like to make a shipping container home. Maybe use it as an AirBnb, but 2 40 ft containers would be a bit too big for me… My Tiny house siding is actually made of corrugated metal, it’s just the frame that’s made of wood.

@customjawnz8841 I'm interested in retiring in Belize. The container home really interests me, if you or @jamie have any leads please post them here so I can start looking into it. I want to start looking for land next year and beginning the container home process soon after. Thanks in advance 😊

I enjoy the clarity of your discourse, sometimes your hopes and dreams don’t always manifest the way you expect or would prefer but you just need to adjust and don’t get too disappointed or down-spirited, you are going to complete and be happy and proud of your achievements when it’s over. Enjoy to journey and I am sure your sharing is going to be useful to many others. I wish you every success in this exercise and total happiness and enjoyment on its completion. Blessings.

I moved to Belize this summer. To the boring city of Pan 😂. I love the safety and it doesn’t flood. I travel back and forth to the states but Belize stole my heart. My landlord offered a piece of land for a GREAT price. I eventually will buy land and build a tiny home also. I will definitely be following your journey.

Your videos are quite informative and what grabbed my attention was the step-by-step process prior to digging the foundation. I hope to visit Belize this year, as I am interested in looking for a plot to purchase, then to build a house which would be my accommodation when on the island and that can be rented when I am off the island. Your guidance would be appreciated.

Yeah, small homes still need to have the same functionality as a larger house, which limits how much lower they can cost as you typically retain most of the most expensive parts of a house and eliminate mostly the low cost empty spaces.
The price can still be tiny, but it's not automatic and usually means compromising on the functionality of the home to reach the lowest possible price point. While, also, some people may still want things in their home that raise the costs. So they can cost anywhere from as low as under $8000 to highs of over $150,000 USD, for comparison...
While a stackable design could be a way to work around transport height restrictions, but a single level design is typically preferable for long term as eventually a loft may become too hard to use later in life and even with 2 stories, going up and down stairs can eventually become too much effort. So, unless you plan on moving the home in the future, the wider layout is ultimately preferable...
Lofts are mainly beneficial for helping to keep the footprint of the home small and is a low cost way to add usable space, which makes it a good solution for especially movable homes that may need to be moved fairly often, but has its trade offs and there's less reason for them in a home that will be in one location for a long time to permanently...

Thanks for the video. I've been looking at land in Punta Gorda, land outside of Belize City and Corazel. I was looking to build a Green ECO home from shipping container. It seems from your video that things seem to have become stricter then when I first starting looking at different countries to retire to. I hope you continue to share your journey with us.

Consider property near Sarteneja, especially Waree Bight - about 15-20 minutes west of Sarteneja. With the new improved road, to be completed soon, the area is going to blow up. We bought bay front land near Sarteneja three years ago and it's almost doubled in value. We won't sell as this is where we'll retire to.
