If the next day they didn't need the carpenters they were stood down for the day with no pay and no prospect of filling in the next day elsewhere ,as they had no control over their employment
They were then re- hired the following day .
It's a disgrace, but somehow we are responsible for letting it happen .

A suggestion. Cummings, who's people moved to No11 when he got sacked, has been working with back stabby Gove for many years. Long before Brexit. Well Sunak is their puppet, and Cummings, if you read the shit he puts out, believes that technocrats and modellers just like himself should design and run all aspects of daily life, because we're too stupid to make our own decisions. It was his constant interventions, that changed the PM's mind about lockdown way back. Cummings has been in close contact with Ferguson and others who are funded by the CCP.

Also as the population increases in size, more and more young people will be entering the workforce even if the actual per capita employment rate remains zero (or perhaps even negative.) And if the retirement age is extended, forcing older people to work during their golden years when they should be taking a well-earned retirement, more people would also be in the workforce then too who really shouldn't be. Notice the specific statistics cited, but even more importantly, notice the specific statistics omitted whenever a tory opens their lying mouth.
This is how they consolidate power. Falsehoods that are designed to sway the politically unengaged into voting against their interests. But as the tories keep taking the micky out of the public, more and more people are paying attention to the politics, and are less likely to be fooled by Mr Johnson's lies, and the lies of his whole rotten party (Labour not exempt either, although they're often in the right just by virtue of being the opposition to this government.)

Boris De Pfeffel did indeed protect Saville. He is quoted of saying that investigating a "spaffer", referring to Saville, was a waste of public money. A "spaffer" is apparently an Etonian expression for mutual co-masturbation with younger kids in the dormitories. Something De Pfeffel is allegedly intimately familiar with. Saville was also a close personal friend of Thatcher, spending almost every Christmas with her and her family which is why he evaded investigation for so many years. He was marked as "untouchable" as a personal friend of Thatcher.
What Starmer did was after the case was dropped by the local police due to pressure from the Tory Government at the time was to launch an investigation into why it was dropped. It is because of Starmer and his investigation that we actually know the facts of this case, as the Tory Government at the time tried to hide it behind the Public Secrecies Act.
