    I kNOW you've still got that BLACK JGuar, right? Send it TO me! I was around when all of these axes were new, except the '58 ... I didn't start messing with guitar until 1959. Am thinking, the very first recorded Jazzmaster was on Bobby Darrin's, "Dream Lover."

    Anyone who has a guitar like this, with the separate vibrato mechanism
    and rocking bridge , please be sure to have the various parts set-up properly.
    There is a lot of rubbish put about that bridge / vibrato is problematic ( strings jumping out of saddles , won't stay in tune etc. ) Most of these troubles stem from not having enough down force on the bridge. These guitars usually need a shim in the neck pocket to allow the bridge to be lifted thereby giving enough break angle to the vibrato tailpiece. If you intend to actually use the vibrato , the bridge must be free to rock in the cups . Don't waste money buying a Mastery brand bridge unless you don't actually use the vibrato function.

      I agree partially with what you're saying, but while I don't find it to be necessary, my mastery bridge has made my vibrato even more stable. Also, ice found that with the original bridge, it is nearly impossible to use anything under tens without using a shim to fully raise the pocket (rather than correct break angle)

    I thought Fender had gold stickers for the painted head stocks, similar to what is on the mustang? I could swear I have seen a Jazzmaster with a gold logo. I may be wrong, but I swear I have seen them out there.

      +jamieson conking it was a bit later in the JM production- late 60's, i believe. Jim Shine is a jm expert and describes the transition on his website.

    You gotta talk about that "wear and tear" like it is beautiful cuz it is. It's called relicing dude lol.

    • @Tim.Pierce
      @Tim.Pierce 8 лет назад +1

      these are original guitars from the 70s Original guitars have the real wear & tear.. Relicing is for new custom made guitars and then faked up to look old and worn.. Mark will never review faked guitars He hates them too He only plays the real vintage guitars for the Guitar Of The Day videos

    • @oldmatrices
      @oldmatrices 8 лет назад

      ***** oh i thought all of it was called relicing hombre.

    • @Tim.Pierce
      @Tim.Pierce 8 лет назад +1

      oldmatrices yea its called relicing if you fake up wear and tear on any new guitar but not at Norm's.. you'll never find "reliced" guitars at Norm's this store specializes in real vintage and rare guitars from the early days.. if ya want the faked up garbage go to guitar centre or any of those crap stores that sell crap guitars for an arm and a leg

    • @oldmatrices
      @oldmatrices 8 лет назад

      ***** You know all your guitars are reliced, you're not fooling anyone.

    • @Tim.Pierce

      +Zane Hubbard CBS means.. the company that bought Fender from Leo Fender

    • @joaocurveira
      @joaocurveira 8 лет назад

      +Zane Hubbard pre-cbs are the original fender guitars, then the company was sold. Basically the pre-cbs fenders are more rare and worth more money.
