The Reformation expansion can be played with either the Ambassador or the Inquisitor. The reference cards are double-sided; one side shows the actions you can take with the Inquisitor, and the other shows the action you can take with the Ambassador.

Bluffing Ambassador is the key to this game. No one ever calls you on it, because it feels like you’re not doing anything. But it makes it so people can never be sure what you have
Turn 0 bluff Duke and Abassador, this is what my games with friends have always devolved into, nobody wants to call anyone out and everyone is shuffling through the deck to try and figure out specifically how many people are lying lol.

1:18:19 he should have lost two cards here... he lied about having a contessa and got assassinated... otherwise i think you all played it by the rules... great game and video love the vibe this game gives.
I'm pretty sure the outcome of the turn starting at 1:17:31 should have been Laurie being knocked completely out, having been both assassinated and challenged on his Contessa claim. (Does unfortunately somewhat undermine the moment at 1:19:45)
No, falsely claiming contessa to stop your own assassination ends in one card being lost, otherwise people lose too quickly and it’s no fun Obviously play how you prefer, that’s just the intention
@@colemoore5007 By that rules interpretation there is no downside to claiming contessa and everyone should always do it when being targeted by an assassin.
@@colemoore5007 yeah no, you are explicitly wrong, by the rules of the game getting called on the false claim is a sepearate card loss to the assasination so you would lose both, and yes it does mean people can go out quickly but thats the entire point, you balance the risk reward of lying about having a contessa rather than just accepting the single card loss. Its fine if thats how your group chooses to house rule it but it does just make the game objectively worse, it removes a layer of strategical choice and makes the assassin much weaker.

One of the weirdest strategies I have ever seen while playing coup is where you don’t look at your own cards until it’s required so that not even you know if your lying allowing for the ultimate risk/reward
I like playing COUP a lot, except for the fact there is a single card which gives you a huge advantage. The Duke gives you way more power than other cards, for the simple fact that drawing coins is the main objective and it is very easy to bluff. And even when it is revealed for one reason or another, there is no counterplay.
