Food for thought, atreus is Loki, Loki is a Giant, the world serpent was sent back in time after the battle of ragnorok. The world serpent is LOKIs son.
@Kaptain Kuba I just finished the game, watched your video and now have a question, maybe you still bother to answer? If the dead giants in Jotunheim are from the battle of Ragnarok of the previous timeline, where are the living giants from this timeline (the present timeline we’re playing in)? And in general, why is the whole game world so empty? Where are all the folks and races we keep hearing about throughout the game? Are they all dead? Are Kratos and Atreus some of the last living beings in all worlds?
I love how Kratos is literally the "Unaccounted variable" he can completely screw this prophecy and I'd love to see how it affects Odin's psychological state
@@jamesharden9665 I think Atreus will grow up and try to cause Ragnarök and kratos will try to stop him. My prediction is that Atreus will become the final boss of the Norse era
I am afraid Santana Monica studios is gonna assassinate captain cuba before he reveals anything else... I guess he's coming way too close to the plot of the next game.
@@KaptainKuba i think that when ragnarok arrives, all of the giants and kratos will be in hellheim allong with the army of atreus / loki. And maybe atreus will die too to prepare for the great war
Kaptain Kuba but Thor is at the end of the game so Ragnarok can’t have happened. Also did they ever say if they were fighting while escaping with tyr? It could be possible they died from their wounds they got while escaping
I still remember when I got to Jotunnheim and got to that peak and I was all excited, then I saw that hand in the distance and started looking around, seeing all the corpses. The game's ability to show these scenes in a way that make you feel shock or awe is why I always come back to the series
Pretty late to this, but when I got to that part my mind was blown. When I first entered i wondering why it was so quiet and it seemed like no one was there because yk the size of giants I would expect noise. But then I got to the peak and just saw the carnage of whatever happened and their bodies sprawled on the mountains
"The scene of Magni's death. You can tell Modi found this scene surprising maybe because he didn't know Kratos was a god killer" Yea... OR its him watching his brother get butchered that shocked him.
I can’t exclaim how pumped I am for GOW5. Atreus being Loki and leading the giants, the world serpent joining the fight, Ragnarok coming, Surtur coming, possibly Fenrir and other Norse beasts, Odin being pissed, and Thor vs Kratos. So much to look forward to.
Not even just time travel but is capable of manipulating time in certain areas too. Both in the original trilogy and even now with things like the Amulet of Kvasir and realm shifting.
I love how when kratos goes to sleep he doesn’t remove mimir from his waistline. A god who is prob 300 pounds just hibernating on a head seems uncomfortable
Here's a thought to ponder: Notice how Faye's handprint is on the tree. I think she may have possessed healing abilities. It could be that by spreading her ashes all of the giants are somehow brought back to life. It would be her ultimate defiance of Odin from beyond the grave. It would also go along with Norse mythology of how Loki leads an army of giants into Ragnarok.
@@sheacoburn8328 Yes, you are absolutely right. When watching some of the cutscenes again, this became evident to me & I think it is also mentioned by Kratos. I am still wondering if Faye's ashes being spread may somehow resurrect some of the giants or if the passage of time is such that in Jotenheim, the ragnorok battle has already taken place & what we see in the game is the aftermath. I don't usually get to play these games & I enjoy them through the entertainment of great content creators, such as the good "kaptain". Thank you for an intelligent reply to my comment instead of an uncalled for & immature insult.
@@sheacoburn8328 That may be what the books of mythology say, but GOW does not follow such teachings to the letter. Kratos makes his own destiny!!!!!!!
Another thing is where he cuts of Mimirs head. It's off camera, but we see the swing of the axe and it looks to me like that should split his head straight down the middle rather than separate the head from the neck.
@Parth lm10 he didn't put him on the bed. I just barely rewatched it. It's extremely subtle and hard to notice, but he takes him off and puts him on the floor (carelessly but its Kratos)
Callum Hoffman I meant real in the sense that real people actually worshipped them, I’m sorry for not dumbing it down for you. I know it’s a real struggle for you to think.
Hmmm. Faye goes to Midgard right before Ragnarok and knowing that the giants will die, meets Kratos and has a kid with him, Atreus (who is gonna eventually lead the Giants in the future). She maybe knows the exact time correlation between the 2 realms, and as a result, she times her death right after Ragnarok. Kratos then, goes to Jotunheim, spreads the asses so that the Giants may return to life for the Ragnarok in our timeline? We also dont know, why and how Faye did die. That will probably be said and explained in an ''All makes sense now'' moment in the next game?
I’m pretty sure there’s a Nordic story where a giant cast illusions on Thor and I think it’s what’s happening here. The giants aren’t dead it’s just an illusion
But why would they do that? They know the future and they know these are fayes relatives. The only explanation is the giants are scared of them. But why would they be scared?
You know, I'm _really_ liking this theory of time relativity and how it relates to Ragnarok, on account that Yggdrasil, the tree that binds all the 9 realms of reality together is the physical manifestation of the spacetime continuum. An argument could easily be made that some realms are closer or further away from the trunk of Yggdrasil. If I remember correctly, the action that sends Jormungandr back in time is that during his and Thor's battle, Yggdrasil itself is broken. The implications here are just * muah *
So the prohecy doesn’t include Kratos, so that means Kratos can stop the deaths of Freyr and change major events in Ragnarok like Odin’s death via Fenrir and Freyr’s sword being exchanged for his wife Geror?
It's been said before and implied heavily in the game, but Kratos is more or less immune to fate.. since he slaughtered the three sisters of fate in the greek pantheon.
Kratos actually was already meant to come to Midgard to be Faye's wife and give birth to Loki and then be killed by Thor so Atreus would taken to Asgard. At first, Ragnarok went as planned. But after the Jomurgander came back from the future, Faye received new visions of the Ragnarok, so she manipulated both Kratos and their son to change some important details of the prophecies and ensure a new outcome.
@@JabamiLain Yes. Kratos is free to change fate but he can appear in the prophesies. He had his own prophecies in Greece back then, it was mentiones in God of War 2 and Ascension. Kratos did change fate, but he did destroyed everything as was predicted.
I think the prophecies will still happen. As an example, Jormundgandr is supposed to kill Thor. But the Leviathan Axe has the world serpent's poison in it, so technically Thor dies by the world serpent. The prophecies will still probably happen, but in a different way.
There is some point in the game, when the gate to jotunheim on the midgard mountain is opened. If the time theory is true, then at that point jotunheim shouldn't have any dead bodies, or there should be something different on it.
I'm more intersted in Brok and Sindri's lore At first, they simply looks like some standard videogames shopkeeper. But as story unfold, turns out they played bigger role than that. From the fact that they're the one who create both Mjolnir and Leviathan axe, to their ability to just pop out everywhere (brok even shows up from behind a pillar in helheim, offering an upgrade for kratos blade, ones even kratos himself didn't realize he needed said upgrade) And what especially intrique me is how during kratos and atreus's short journey with Freya, they passed both Sindri's and brok's shop and they're not at their place. Freya herself mentioned that she didn't see anyone at the shop during her travel to meet Kratos.
@@yarapah If you look at the giants they're so big if they whispered it would sound like screaming to us, the world serpent is extremely loud just by talking ya know? But you could be right
Maybe that’s why he was getting sick and not because Kratos was withholding his past from him. The jotar must have been crying for help because Ragnarok was happening while they were on their adventure
What if those Giants were fighting Thor as they fled Midgard, and sustained mortal wounds and thus died. And those that Survived went to Utgard where the Giant Utgard-Loki lives. Utgard-Loki did make his Fortress disappear in the actual mythology. Maybe the next game involves finding Utgard
This actually makes some sense if you add the last part of atreus story where he is walking away with three wolves by himself, and also jormungandr jotun shrine, it you look closer at the shrine where jormungandr is coiled around his mother, the iron forest i think is called is surrounded by wolves, this maybe the last location of living jotunns somewhere in the realms hiding out till ragnarok and probably the next stop for atreus where he will meey his future wife
The thing you said about Giants not predicting the future but just writing what had happened in the past could make sense on how faye know things will play out in long run
true, but it would be confusing things with time travel, which more than one would like, but it would be strange not to see inconsistencies, in the end Faye had basically seen before the prophecy where her son would join Odin, and thanks to that she was able Forging a new path that her future family would take to avoid that event, but of course it depended in part exclusively on them, Faye only planted the seed.
@@martinc8965 As I learn more about Faye I can conclude this without hesitation that she is even a greater manipulator than Odin . She knew how things would work and what she has to do and say to make them work
@@shivanshgarewal2833 Freya in the game comes to assume that, it goes without saying that Kratos did not like that, it may be true that she wanted to form a family with Kratos in part so that he would be the one to put an end to the Aesir (not all of them) but if it were only for that reason she would not have done the mural where her husband is loved like a protective god. But the question here would be different. Is it wrong that Faye wanted that in the first place? After all, the Aesir in these games are basically a drug cartel, even someone like Tyr for example, despite seeking peace, knows very well that this can only be achieved by eliminating those who cause problems, and the Aesir have already caused many problems to innocent people, for any reason, ignorance, evil, selfishness, etc.
I wonder how time works in Asgard compared to Midgard and the other realms we visited? Consider that Atreus and kratos completed their entire journey, which even if you don’t do everything encapsulates TWO full visits to Helheim. As well as however long kratos was inside the light of alfheim. And to top everything they went to jotunheim for at least a solid 10 minutes. And then they slept for years and only then Thor arrives to kill them. So does time move 10 times slower in Asgard compared to everywhere else?
They didn't sleep for years dummy That was a dream atreus had of the future. You can literally keep playing the game after the story is finished which means he woke up next morning.
Title: 'Why are the GIANTS dead?' Me: Because Thor killed them. Edit: People are really trying to fact-check a joke, wow Edit 2: Dear god, it's been a whole year and people still don't get the joke.
No it cannot be this because first the tower was not there to allow traveling to the land of the gaints second Odin send blodur to find the way to the gaints realm like baldur said he came to krato's house to get information to get to the gaints he said"and if you have given me what I wanted it wouldn't have ended this way" he also said " there's no need for this to get bloody"
I think there was a traitor between the gaints he/she how send them to fight some army or some person they couldn't win against or he/she have killed them himself/herself which don't have a very high chance of this happening or he/she made a trap for them and they got killed by it
@@elevated6941 Baldr did not go with Kratos because he thought he was a giant and wanted me to take away his invulnerability ?, sorry for my English jaja
Well Faye did tell them to go to that spot specifically. She probably knew the battle was gonna go down. She just wasn’t sure when (meaning timeline wise w/ the whole time lopes)
Because originally the Giants place looked so different and then when we actually get to explore Jountiehem it's an entire structure changed completely why is that
All i can say is that Santa Monica needs to hire you ASAP. Your theory is pretty much the next GOW. Just perfect and truly epic and deserving of the greatness of this game.
Thor killed the giants, Mimir told that story about how Thor wormed his way into their realm. And he slaughtered them once he got noticed are something like that. Odin and Thor are the reason the giants are all gone. Bc the giants were suppose to be apart of Odins downfall. Odin is scared of ragnorok bc of his death, Mimir talks about it during the game alot.
No thor snuck in with a concealment spell without Freyas knowledge and he killed thrym and a few others that happened to be there but was cast out by a spell right afterwards so there should be plenty more giants
This theory cant be true. If ragnarok has already happened then why did modi say this to atreus and kratos "Thor blamed me for what u did to magni... my own father called me a coward." 🤷🏽♂️
When Kratos and Atreus are inspecting the Jotunheim Mural, Atreus exlaims "We're so close to the end now!" with Kratos responding "Yes.... yes we are". We thought he meant their journey and the end of the game, BUT with your theory to consider perhaps it also refers to Ragnrok and all the dead giants that are seen during that cutscene. Something about Kratos and Atreus meeting Jormungandr (Fayes plan in action) after he was sent back to Midgard and the lake of nine makes me think you're right about the timeline AND that he may have not been the only other one to have time traveled. If Jormungandr went back, I wonder who else has?!?! GIVE ME GOW 5!
I’ve played this amazing game 5 times now, and what I can’t figure out is why Atreus tells Kratos that being a giant is a race and not how tall they are, yet all of the giants in jotunheim that are dead are all huge. I just started watching the video so if you explain it thanks lol
I thought of that too, Kratos would’ve realized he was impregnating a giant person. How did he not know Faye was a giant? I thought giant might’ve been a race but the land of the Giants is huge, it will be strange to have normal people walking around
This is a pretty good theory, one of your best! The implications of the time dilation could be staggering, by your calculations for every day that passes in Jotunheim, 5.5 years pass in Midgard. If Jormangander was knocked into Midgard 250 years ago, that would have only been 6 weeks prior to Kratos and Artreus arriving in Jotunheim. Although there is one obvious flaw, the theory relies on the premise that the Giants died fighting in Jotunheim - I think Occam's Razor is best used in this scenario: the simplest explanation is that most of those who were shown bloodied were actually attacked and mortally wounded in Midgard by Thor, and managed to escape to Jotunheim before succumbing to their injuries. This is consistent with the Jotun sculptures and scripts prior to seeing the mural. Modi's words do have me perplexed, although if he knows Thor is going to die at Ragnorak he could just be boasting about his future inheritance.
That theory with Zeus in Helheim had me wonder: If Kratos kills Odin and moves on to maybe Ireland, then fallen Olympians, Aesir gods and the Tuatha de dannan can join forces to destroy Kratos and Atreus
@@thomasshaughnessy9023 it should have been the whole world, killing Poseidon made the sea rise hundreds of feet, he brought a plague that killed so many mortals, mortals not only in Greece, but the whole world, his actions alone caused so much unwarranted death on innocent life, and he lives with it, he knows he is a monster, thee monster, that the dead hate.
@Pietro Catalano But when that inevitable Thor fight comes, Odin would be involved and if Kratos or Atreus finishes the job, then there would be some consequences, or am I rambling here?
Heck , we might even se Older Kratos and atreus meeting the 'young' kratos , who was travelling from Greek to Norse ( mythological timeline ) ... and might actuallly see whatever happened and how he met frye ( we know how ... but , we dont know why )
I’ve figured it out. Basically, all nine realms run on different clocks; each realm experiences time differently. As a result, Ragnarok happens at different times in each realm. So, the elves get their Ragnarok separately from the giants, and the giants get their Ragnarok separately from Asgard and so on. So, Ragnarok had already happened in Jotunheim, explaining Modi’s comments. It also explains why all the giants are dead. The reason why Odin is so deathly afraid of Ragnarok is because, in Asgard, they’ve already killed the Giants. This leaves Odin scrambling to ensure that there’s no way for Ragnarok to properly commence on Midgard and Asgard. However, Kratos’ arrival in the Norselands broke prophecy. Faye most likely noticed Kratos’ arrival, and left Jotunheim for Midgard in order to change the future. I’m assuming there was something more than just ashes in Faye’s ashes, or maybe even the Leviathan Axe is even more special than it seems. Nonetheless, this time bullshit is wack. However, I wonder how they’re going to explain why Loki’s origin is different? How was Faye able to give birth to him? Perhaps Ragnarok has happened before (outside of this current cycle), and Faye/the giants realized the importance of Loki to the triggering of it? Perhaps the Giants wish to break the cycle of Ragnarok? Perhaps Odin already broke the cycle, and the Giants are attempting to mend it? Perhaps even Loki himself was in on the bargain between Tyr and the Giants? Maybe he WAS this cycle’s Tyr (he is a trickster god, after all). Not to mention there are even inaccuracies in Mimir’s stories, one of them specifically about Frigg. I’m curious to see what play they will take on the mythology of it all.
Remember the climb to Thamur's hammer? There was a puzzle in the game that specifically addresses the concept of temporal magic used by the Vanir, and why they stopped using it. It's a Chekhov's -Gun- DeLorean. We hear over and over about the wolf giants that chase the sun and moon, it's one of the first triptychs encountered, and it's the subject of the main trap in Tyr's Vault, too. Part of the mural in Jotunheim also shows what looks like Atreus with three wolves... My guess is that they represent Skol, Hati, and Fenrir.
@@Knight-Bishop I've always wondered whether or not Ragnarok has happened yet given that the giants are essentially dead. Everything that has been told through the game shows us that Odin is essentially trying to remove a problem before it actually becomes a problem. Ragnarok is Odin's doom, as it will be the destruction of all realms and all things within them. What I find interesting is that, currently if you look at what Odin has been able to do, he has the wolves, he's killed the giants, and there's no way for them to reach Midgard or leave Jotunheim. But it's like Mimir said, Kratos is the unexpected variable in this whole thing. Odin has done all these pre-requisites that would start Ragnarok, yet Baldur still died and now fimblewinter has begun. Personally, it sort of feels like the giants knew that Ragnarok would not start unless they attempted to tip the balance in some form or fashion. To them, they would rather see Ragnarok happen to some degree if it means vengeance against Odin. What I think will be interesting is how this plays out with Kratos. He's out of the vengeance game, so for a long ploy to come up in order to satisfy his wife's final wish would definitely be something to see. I don't know......is this game coming out soon lol?
You got some things wrong that would change the answer. You mentioned that “time moves faster in Jotunheim”. It moves faster in Midgard. Thats why Fimblewinter had seemed to arrive at an accelerated pace. 20 minutes of jotunheim is experienced while possibly a month has gone by in midgard. The likely answer is that jotunheim is still after ragnarok but that its because it was somehow tied to the world serpent. Atreus is the father of the world serpent after all and it was sent back in time to before its birth after clashing with thor. Thats why it appeared in the lake randomly. I suspect that it is somehow entangled with jotunheim as one of the only two giants. So jotunheims future was connected to the present through the world serpent
I wonder if the World Serpent didn't reveal his true identity to Kratos and Atreus (only to Mimir) either not to screw the plan or because he doesn't remember who he is.
Nah that doesn't make sense. It wouldn't be that fast otherwise the giants could evolve into the space age and then come back to Midgard and destroy everyone. Doesn't make thematic sense.
Actually yes, the prophecy counted on him (the prophecy of Jotunheim), but there is more than one possible future, That's why why the Aesir didn't know Kratos but the Jotuns did
@@JessicaGarcia-xf9wr I'm pretty sure even though she did see Atreus's future dad was Kratos, she honestly did fall in love with him. What if Kratos and atreus go back in time during the events of the first game, during fayes funeral right after kratos and atreus went hunting. Faye fakes her own death like how Juliet does in Shakespeare's novel. Now you may be asking what about the ashes or fire, she could use a spell to be fire resistant and well maybe atreus from the future, seeing how he is a god of mischief/tricks, what if he used a similar spell that Freya uses to animate the dead like how she did to mimir and put it over where faye was suppose to be cremated, making kratos from the past think its fayes ashes. Once they release the ashes the giants all get reanimated right after kratos and atreus leave. Could also explain atreus from the future blew the horn to call the world serpent. Also just for extra insanity theory. What if kratos and atreus go way back in time to the event where Kratos accidentally kills his old family, building tension between kratos and atreus later on in the next game .
It was confirmed in the game that future events have already happened. Mimir speaks about the fight between the World Serpent and Thor that shook the realms and is why World Serpent is in Midgard. When questioned about him fighting Thor, Mimir says the fight hasn't happened yet and either outright says it or implies that the fight ripped a hole through time and sent the World Serpent back to the present day of the game.
The killer is literally on the screen...the fog and mountains! The fog obscured the mountains, and all the giants tripped and broke their necks, backs, and skulls
if the Ragnarok already happened for the Aesir then how is Thor alive? and how can there be a SECOND Ragnarok? I think u might be right about the end times to happen in Jotunheim prior to any other realem BUT that time loop u are trying to create is kinda crazy and lacks basis
My guess is that some of them let themselves be killed knowing that the ashes of fey would revive them by magic and by the time of ragnarok they all would be alive by coming into contact with them. Whenever they come back they would be ready to fight again against the aesir

There's this thing about theories.... you don't know if they're true, but they do give you a sense of complete-ness.... filling up these blanks in the story!
I 100% agree with everything you say and gives the game a whole new point of view, but I hope the next game doesn't because when time travel is added to a plot it makes things complicated really quick
The first few seconds of the video, and the last message of Atreus and Kratos to Faye broke my heart to pieces. I treat Atreus like my son already because I like how he talks and behaves in his age. I wish Atreus will age too slowly because I like the baby Atreus that we used to know.
I reckon that when Kratos and Atreus arrive in Jotenheim, its 100 years ahead in time , just after Ragnarok, which is when it was scheduled in prophecy according to Mimir. As there are murals depicting the games journey and the fact Cory has said that Faye had literally marked the way for them, its seems a new prophecy arose AFTER the events of Odin's double crossing and Jotenheim being completely shut off from the other realms (hence why no one other than the giants there would ever find out about it) I reckon Faye lived through or at least left before Ragnarok and went to Midgard as the "gaurdian" of the secret prophecy to make the necessary preparations to bring it into fruition. There's more to it I'm sure but I've literally just come up with this theory
Maybe that’s why Thor shows up at the end...maybe he also got sent in the past(to our timeline) from the Ragnarok battle along with the serpent...and because of this disturbance, Ragnarok already happened in some realms and didn’t in others or something like that...Man oh man! This is getting so confusing😂
That is such a good theory and I honestly think you’re spot on. That modi scene saying he earned that hammer. This channel is so sick been watching all morning just tryna get answers for this game and whats to come. Great job!
One thing that struck me that I havent yet seen anyone comment on are the clouds/fog underneath the giants. The giants too seem to be clinging for dear life to these mountains. Crawling, agonizing and succumbing to this green colored fog. Or poison.
Didn't odin find a way to jotinhaim after all the allfather is crazy about prophices and in odin's room he stole tyr's panting to see the way to jotinhaim ? But your theory is good, and if we were lucky fat thor will be in the next game 😂
@Sean Ramsay I'll tell you what he's been up to. Chillin.. just chillin and he's been getting ready for Christmas and about to start a new holiday for himself and the humans whom he now respects and they'll throw parties and eat cookies.
He couldn't see the secret of the mural, though. The giants only ever gifted Mimir and Tyr with the gift to see Tyr's mural, Odin had no way of being able to tell what exactly was on Tyr's mural... ... Unless he used Mimir's second eye? He would have already had his one eye ripped out, and then he took Mimir's other eye; there is a chance he could have already divined how to get to Jotunheim ahead of the heroes. Mimir seems pretty certain that Odin only had his eye put in Thor's Temple, the one guarding Asgard I think, but there could still be a chance that Odin could have used it BEFORE it got locked away. Mimir was, after all, locked away for over a hundred years; he wouldn't know everything that was going on while he was Odin's prisoner.
you know what i realized and no one else realized what if the giants are in a very deep slumber and it looks like there dead and the ashes of faye brings them back ?
@@KaptainKuba maybe its like a blood potion so if thor or baldur found a way into the land of the giants it will look like there dead idk im looking forward to finding out tho
i have a theory about why the giants are dead. No one ever wondered why mimir/ head ever existed, he says he was all arround everywere and met like everyone ( but what is mimir's true purpose ? ) Kratos does not know unlike anyone in the entire game knows or actually talks about the goals of mimir . Who is mimir for real ? and why was he lifebounded to know as much as possible about everyone and everything ?" he even heard about the Ghost of sparta " but is "surprised "when he is dangeling on krato's hip when kratos admits he's the Ghost after a little pretend guessing from mimir . ( there is only 1 marked warrior through all the realms and everyone knows him )... "The fact that he heard about a ghost " does imply to me that mimir does know how to control time and maybe even travel through time to pull strings in events that still needed to happen through the god of war games . ( because everything goes slower in jotenheim in comparison to mid-gard ) how does mimir know such a ghost ever existed if he never shared the same time as kratos ? Mimir i think is a god himself but unspoken off or some unknown god who still has he's part to play before the entire story is over . Now i came to the thought that mimir could be the stick in the fire that caused the giants deaths by certain knowledge about the giants, wich caught Odins attention ( that's why Odin keeps mimir locked up in a tree for eternity ) because of untold knowledge not mentioned through the entire game . The knowlegde of victory over everything (something like that is very valuable and changes everything if you already know everything ), it could change the course of history and present all at the same time . Mimir wanted to be locked up in the tree by Odin even tho he says he didn't want that ( Mimir expects Kratos to show up ) Mimir needed an excuse to actually meet the God killer Himself and this "suddenly" happen to be inside the plan of Athreus he's mother . Athreus he's mother ( Faye ) story ended at the end of the game because " she didn't want" to look further into the future. ( the only thing she wanted was her son to know the truth about himself and the choice she could leave behind for him whenever he decides to be Loki or not ) end of her story . ( ashes are spread ) The real story is still to be told ( this is could be a part of a bigger story ) or is being told by Kratos himself at he's deathbed ( to Athreus ) or someone else ( himself maybe ), but eventually it's the story of the god of war ( Kratos ) never forget that . ( many games could be released before it comes down to that fact ) " i'm overthinking " Mimir knows Freya, knows her son,he knows athreus he's mother ( Faye ), he knows even the goddamn world serpent. ( he must also know about their strengths and weaknesses to ) no matter who it is . mimir knows ! Mimir is a master of disguise through the voice he uses in the entire game( what he does is befriending Kratos and he's son the entire time ) " befriend the one you need for your ultimate goal ", he know how to start conversations to discover things, he knows wich tone or voice to use when speaking to certain creatures or other gods . ( no one could even imagine mimir could be a certain threat especially when he's head is cut off ) not even Kratos himself suspects anything ( kratos believes he's in control by using short words or sentences ) mimir knows how to deal with types like Kratos, Kratos surely isn't the first person in Mimirs life who had an attitude like Kratos, except mimir doesn't say anything about that . + What is that tattoo written text on Mimir's head ? no one talks about that text . Mimir even frightened Kratos just a little with he's knowledge about the fact he knows Kratos is a god and should tell he's son the truth about himself . ( Kratos gets a little defensive on that part for a short time ) and these kind of little situations occur more during the game . Mimirs voice is just a cover up for who he is . I even think Mimir created the whole event and started pulling strings before Kratos ever met athreus he's mother, from the beginning in a certain point of life ( god of war games ) whenever he needed kratos. but secretly knew athreus he's mother would protect them and guide them to a single truth,( fallen Giants ) but didn't know herself her guidance had a bigger role to play in the big plan of mimir, she did not forsee it because she didn't focus on such things like betrayal, she focused herself on showing the truth about who athreus is and what kratos had to do . I think Mimir is the cause of the Ragnarok ( or is ragnarok himself ) event and the war between the giants and the aesir, ( i think Mimirs plan was letting them destroy eachother ) and take the place of an all knowing god who has seen everything / met everything / knows everything . ( the ultimate god ), but to reach " ultimate god " he needs someone with no fear someone who knows how to kill gods ( Kratos ), it has always bin about Kratos . ( who wouldn't want to own Kratos on a leash ? ) other gods have tried ( why should mimir be different ? or Odin ? ) Kratos he's son is going to be the ultimate trigger when he dies, kratos would toss all humanity and calmity aside, to destroy the last kind of gods, when kratos thinks he has killed them all, Mimir would reveal himself and he's purpose about why he controlled events from the beginning. I think mimir even knows a way to inhabit the power of fallen gods and use that power as he's own...., like Kratos could in all the other god war games . But in order to do all that Mimir must tell Kratos about the possibility's in how to get into valhalla ( there are 3 ways ) Odin knew them all and tries to stop Kratos from entering valhalla . Mimir at this point is nothing more then a guide ( keep that mind ) Kratos does not question him for some reason at all ! nor he's intentions in why mimir is handing out specific information about things . mimir knows how to cheat death aswell ( mimir never died ) with this Kratos will get the promise that he's son could be revived by mimir's will ( if kratos does what mimir tells him to like a dog ) or ( kratos can make peace with the fact he's son is dead, and take out the evil that threatens the entire universe and timeline . To save himself he kratos must save everything . That moment Kratos needs to decide he has enough power to take down the " ultimate god " mimir or not after being lured into a power loss trap . At the very end i think Kratos learns in a way from Mimir ( by killing him for real ) how to cheat death and save he's son from it all in one go when saving everything ( Kratos would get a meet up with he's wife and dead children ) . that's the end of Kratos ( the god of war himself ) . Not to bring war anymore but balance to everything so life could start fresh all over without the hand of any god but by the decision that is made through all living organisms in all the realms so they could bend and shape the world how it always was .( Pure ) Mimir also has a weird golden Eye wich indicates he's eyes aren't just for show but have not yet bin revealed in the game . ( the key lays within 1 eye ) ( Maybe a key for ragnarok or transformation into ragnarok ? ) The Real reason behind the Death of the Giants is that they also might have a power that equals existence ( destruction or creation ) this power is something that could be used at the end . Mimir knows all this and wants the destruction of the giants so this power could never be used against him and wipe him out with all existence and start fresh without him. The Giants are the forthbringers of Realms but not the creation in all of them .
That’s an interesting theory, there are still holes in it that I’m bothered. Mimir could have just visited Kratos, like all the other Gods, Thor, Baldur, Magni and etc. Let’s gather what we know about Mimir, Mimir is the smartest person in the world, was actually carried and beheaded by Odin not Kratos in the real norse mythology, knows the Ghost of Sparta and knows other Gods, Mimir knowing every aesir Gods and their weaknesses is no surprise, he theorizes them and connects them one by one, just like sherlock holmes or death note’s L, but knowing the Ghost of Sparta is very strange, it could be that the director didn’t think it through or the land Sparta was in the same world, either way, once we know about how Kratos went to norse mythology we can all connect it.
At 3:52(top part of the mural) , you could see Kratos fighting (possibly killing) the World Serpent in a battle, not the the Boss fight dragon dragon where the game lead to Kratos killing it. This is because we see at the time mentioned earlier was Atreus looking at the different side of the walls which was discovered, while Kratos is portrayed with the point of view of looking only up and down. This leads to why it is interesting since Kaptain Kuba mentioned the mural where it is portrayed that Kratos will be killed by Odin(possibly retrieving the Leviathan Axe and another World serpent will be reborn by Loki/Atreus as a part of vengeance or for killing his father, (I believe the matter the clothes depicted by the mural where only Kratos has viewed is non existant) continuing Ragnarok again. This also means that Thor will fight (maybe a reborned or first experience of the World Serpent). Concluding that; *maybe Jörmungandr was killed by Kratos, not Thor, due to the red eyes of the Jörmungandr {possibly cursed} depicted by t at the mural (3:52) *Odin will kill Kratos, gaining acces to the Leviathan Axe *The depiction of Ragnarok shows Thor battling a reborned serpent Or maybe just Loki (depicted by Kaptain Kuba) giving birth to the serpent back in time before Ragnarok first occured
Maybe the Aesir aren’t trying to prevent Ragnarok, they’re trying definitely win again, because if Magni and Modi (or just Modi) “earns” it probably means that Thor will die
Firstly great video, secondly I know what I am going to say is probably not true, but what if Faye cast a very powerful and ancient spell which put the giants into a death like sleep/slumber to make it seem to the Aesir gods like they are actually dead, and the only thing which could "revive" them are the ashes of the woman who cast this spell, aka Faye, like I said this probably is not true but a cool thought
Good theory! To add on, I think the mural at the end depicts both the past and future, if that makes sense. Since he changed the prophecy, I believe that mural represents what's going to happen, and already did. It's a weird paradox lol the serpent is Loki, who already experienced the Ragnarok battle where Kratos is killed, he has to guide them to the means of "going back" in GoW.
It's also explain why the mural calls him Loki instead of Atreus. If the Giants were so good at telling the future you'd think they would have gotten something as simple as someone's name right.
I had always assumed those were the dead bodies from the story that Mimir tells of Thor being cloaked and travelling to Jotunheim with Odin and Frejya where he slays all the giants he can before Frejya uses magic to cast them back to Midgard. Made the most logical sense to me at the time.
Idk I thought that too but the writers made a huge deal with Atreus looking at a huge number of giant corpses and specifically saying, “you know, they’re really all gone now”
Spot on, plus Mimir also mentioned that perhaps the world snake had already fought Thor at Ragnarok but got knocked back in time. Mimir also mentioned that the world snake was the last giant which is why they went to it to ask how to get to the realm of the giants. Mimir also mentioned that the world snake spoke a dead language and since the giants had all been gone for a long time and are dead in the future, you notice that indeed the world snake got knocked back in time by Thor during Ragnarok. Mimir also said that the giants were the best at prophecy and we get an Idea as to why with all these timeline variation stuff which the giants did best. During the mission where the dead giant was, Atreus was using old giant time magic to move that platform upwards and Mimir explained that even before the giants left, they had stopped using time magic because it was problematic. I watched the ragnarok trailer and it turns out that TYR, the other one with the special eyes like Mimir was a giant himself despite having all dwarf sons. TYR could travel between the realms which could explain why the giants have a sort of special connection with the world tree and sometimes see the future like in a dream. That means that reality and timelines are pretty much relative to them. Seems to me Atreus mother had a plan to change fate which is why she dragged us all the way to the land of the giants and not just to spread her ashes. I think Atreus will have a big role in Ragnarok to change the future since he's a giant and a god, plus kratos said that that mural at the end was about Atreus Kratos often stated that prophecy and fate were lies of the gods and we see that on that mural at the giants realm where their whole journey had been prophesied and that Kratos would die at Ragnarok. I'm thinking that Kratos will escape fate and shape the future. Also, odin seemed pretty paranoid and freya mentioned that norse gods didn't like strangers so perhaps there's a reason. I read the codex and somewhere in there it said that Atreus thought that maldur or whatever, was traking them down but then realized that he was after his mother that was nothing but ashes. I just finished the game and paid a lot of attention. What you're saying makes sense. That's what I concluded too.
I have 2 theorys First one is : i cant totally believe that faye is dead cause of old age and mimir confirms me when he say (but its rare amonge the legends) replaying atreus when he asked if gaints die from old age And the second is : the world serpent talked at the first time when he meet atreus and kretos and it seemed like an important speech but unfortinatly mimir wasn't there 2 translate it 🌚💔 . And about (god of war fallen god) believe me it isnt gonna be aierd cause we're gonna see it in the next god of war game 🌚💔
Whitch is nice untill you reallize just how many gods have been build up like him and died like bitches Krathos os the perfect solider is soo storng they dont wont him to go to asgard out of fear
Just gonna put this out there just in case...the good guys can sometimes be the bad guys, maybe tyr killed the giants(not sure how)and then locked the realm so noone could find them or something like that
When Atreus hears voices in alfheim could that be when the battle takes place? Also, when kratos says "let me know when it happens again." Atreus said he would let him know but after that he doesn't hear the voices again or he simply doesn't tell us.
The time flows differently in each realm, so maybe thor came in a long past to kill every giants or maybe Surtur with his giants destroyed the life in Jotunheim. Or maybe this is the future of ragnarok. Anyway i think faye's ashes can revive the good giants. Sorry if i wrote something bad im not english
Giants can change/ choose what appearance they have and how large as natural shapeshifters. That's why some appear humanlike,as animals, or something else entirely.
If time moved slower in Helheim, Kratos would’ve been late to saving his son back in Midgard. He would’ve returned with the Gate Keeper’s heart days/weeks later.
Late reply but as Mimir said, time doesn’t move the same in realms. In Alfheim, while you were in the light, it felt only like a minute for Kratos, in reality, 2/3 days already passed for Atreus, and I don’t know how many weeks or months passed in Midgard. In Helheim, while it is slower, 2 hours there might be 2 minutes, or 3 days there might be 3 hours on Midgard. Mimir also said, “sorry I’m sure that’s confusing”, but then Kratos said “if I go back quick to my son, that is good.” then Mimir said “ah! Aren’t you a quick study.” meaning this confirms it. Time is still the same, it’s just the speed that changes it on other realms. Faster the time on a realm other than Midgard, 2x the speed of time on Midgard. Slower the time on a realm, 2x slower the speed of time on Midgard.
So the beginning of Ragnarok might be Thor kidnapping "Loki" as the last giant, but perhaps Oden either doesn't know Loki is a God or he learned if it by the end of the last game and wants to figure out what abilities he has, maybe even try to turn him against Kratos. They said Oden was obsessed with knowing as much as possible.
@@alexthegreat8001 I could see Kratos giving the Giants a second chance at fighting. Either with help from the Valkyries or some time manipulation. Seems like most other races would probably dislike Kratos because his reputation proceeds him in the way that he interferes sometimes without anyone asking. And in general, why is the whole game world so empty? Where are all the folks and races we keep hearing about throughout the game? Are they all dead? Are Kratos and Atreus some of the last living beings in all worlds?

Here's a thought to ponder: Notice how Faye's handprint is on the tree. I think she may have possessed healing abilities. It could be that by spreading her ashes all of the giants are somehow brought back to life. It would be her ultimate defiance of Odin from beyond the grave. It would also go along with Norse mythology of how Loki leads an army of giants into Ragnarok.

I’m pretty sure there’s a Nordic story where a giant cast illusions on Thor and I think it’s what’s happening here. The giants aren’t dead it’s just an illusion
That is a smart and simple theory. The giants are known for using illusions.
The jotunnof myths were masters of magic and especially illusions. It could make sense.
Possible, the simplest answer are usually the correct one
Utgard Loki. Overly Sarcastic Productions did a video on him- the dude's illusions made him look as tall as a mountain.
So somehow the world serpent or Faye save Kratos from Thor and his Brothers ?.

I'm more intersted in Brok and Sindri's lore
At first, they simply looks like some standard videogames shopkeeper. But as story unfold, turns out they played bigger role than that. From the fact that they're the one who create both Mjolnir and Leviathan axe, to their ability to just pop out everywhere (brok even shows up from behind a pillar in helheim, offering an upgrade for kratos blade, ones even kratos himself didn't realize he needed said upgrade)
And what especially intrique me is how during kratos and atreus's short journey with Freya, they passed both Sindri's and brok's shop and they're not at their place. Freya herself mentioned that she didn't see anyone at the shop during her travel to meet Kratos.

Kaptain Kuba they could’ve died before having the chance too. They were probably fighting off Thor when he was going on his genocidally campaign.
Yes, it'd make sense that the next game is about finding out the last Giant's city.
This theory cant be true. If ragnarok has already happened then why did modi say this to atreus and kratos
"Thor blamed me for what u did to magni... my own father called me a coward." 🤷🏽♂️
If this theory is true that MEANS WE GET TO SEE FAYE
Spartans assemble!
Within a two metre distance!😂👍
😂😂😂😂
I’ve played this amazing game 5 times now, and what I can’t figure out is why Atreus tells Kratos that being a giant is a race and not how tall they are, yet all of the giants in jotunheim that are dead are all huge. I just started watching the video so if you explain it thanks lol
Yeah me to
I thought of that too, Kratos would’ve realized he was impregnating a giant person. How did he not know Faye was a giant? I thought giant might’ve been a race but the land of the Giants is huge, it will be strange to have normal people walking around
I think its explained as giants can vary in their height. Doesnt really make much sense but that's the common answer
It means they can be huge in size, but they can also be human size as well
@@deadfromhell1235 What is your God of War theory
I mean, if he accidentally destroyed Norway like he did in Greece
@@thomasshaughnessy9023 it should have been the whole world, killing Poseidon made the sea rise hundreds of feet, he brought a plague that killed so many mortals, mortals not only in Greece, but the whole world, his actions alone caused so much unwarranted death on innocent life, and he lives with it, he knows he is a monster, thee monster, that the dead hate.
@@senatorarmstrong9459 How Norway is seemingly fine after this happened, idk

@@JACk79457 yeah same man
I’ve figured it out.
The world serpent also told mimir that Atreus look familiar but didn’t know from where
Nah that doesn't make sense. It wouldn't be that fast otherwise the giants could evolve into the space age and then come back to Midgard and destroy everyone. Doesn't make thematic sense.
@@copyninja8756 yes it does lol
I think kratos and atreus have done something and changed the fate of the giants as mimir said, the prophecy didnt count on him. Just a theory. :)

Thanks man, im glad you like the content

CD projekt Red: haha jokes on you.
It still amazes me that its been two years
Maybe that’s why Thor shows up at the end...maybe he also got sent in the past(to our timeline) from the Ragnarok battle along with the serpent...and because of this disturbance, Ragnarok already happened in some realms and didn’t in others or something like that...Man oh man!
Mimir was, after all, locked away for over a hundred years; he wouldn't know everything that was going on while he was Odin's prisoner.

i have a theory about why the giants are dead.
( ashes are spread )
The real story is still to be told ( this is could be a part of a bigger story ) or is being told by Kratos himself at he's deathbed ( to Athreus ) or someone else ( himself maybe ), but eventually it's the story of the god of war ( Kratos ) never forget that . ( many games could be released before it comes down to that fact ) " i'm overthinking "
Mimir knows Freya, knows her son,he knows athreus he's mother ( Faye ), he knows even the goddamn world serpent.
( who wouldn't want to own Kratos on a leash ? ) other gods have tried ( why should mimir be different ? or Odin ? )
Kratos he's son is going to be the ultimate trigger when he dies, kratos would toss all humanity and calmity aside, to destroy the last kind of gods, when kratos thinks he has killed them all, Mimir would reveal himself and he's purpose about why he controlled events from the beginning.
Not to bring war anymore but balance to everything so life could start fresh all over without the hand of any god but by the decision that is made through all living organisms in all the realms so they could bend and shape the world how it always was .( Pure )
Mimir also has a weird golden Eye wich indicates he's eyes aren't just for show but have not yet bin revealed in the game . ( the key lays within 1 eye )
( Maybe a key for ragnarok or transformation into ragnarok ? )
The Real reason behind the Death of the Giants is that they also might have a power that equals existence ( destruction or creation ) this power is something that could be used at the end .
Let’s gather what we know about Mimir,
Mimir is the smartest person in the world, was actually carried and beheaded by Odin not Kratos in the real norse mythology, knows the Ghost of Sparta and knows other Gods,
Mimir knowing every aesir Gods and their weaknesses is no surprise, he theorizes them and connects them one by one, just like sherlock holmes or death note’s L, but knowing the Ghost of Sparta is very strange, it could be that the director didn’t think it through or the land Sparta was in the same world, either way, once we know about how Kratos went to norse mythology we can all connect it.
Good theory. But i dont see how mimir would be wrong or to just forget what he said lol
What if, Kratos and Atreus got to Jolhelheim right after Thor’s visit!
"why are the giants dead?"
Thor : because they were not a calm and reasonable people
At 3:52(top part of the mural) , you could see Kratos fighting (possibly killing) the World Serpent in a battle, not the the Boss fight dragon dragon where the game lead to Kratos killing it.
Concluding that;
*maybe Jörmungandr was killed by Kratos, not Thor, due to the red eyes of the Jörmungandr {possibly cursed} depicted by t at the mural (3:52)
*Odin will kill Kratos, gaining acces to the Leviathan Axe
*The depiction of Ragnarok shows Thor battling a reborned serpent
Or maybe just Loki (depicted by Kaptain Kuba) giving birth to the serpent back in time before Ragnarok first occured

Totally makes sense! This a great theory

I’d go back in time so they can fix the damn game before releasing it
It's also explain why the mural calls him Loki instead of Atreus.
Because that's the case. This is just throwing shit at a wall, calling it a "theory", and making illogical leaps to support a made up conclusion.
Idk I thought that too but the writers made a huge deal with Atreus looking at a huge number of giant corpses and specifically saying, “you know, they’re really all gone now”
Imagine this game on PS5

I think Atreus will have a big role in Ragnarok to change the future since he's a giant and a god, plus kratos said that that mural at the end was about Atreus
Kratos often stated that prophecy and fate were lies of the gods and we see that on that mural at the giants realm where their whole journey had been prophesied and that Kratos would die at Ragnarok.
I have 2 theorys
First one is : i cant totally believe that faye is dead cause of old age and mimir confirms me when he say (but its rare amonge the legends) replaying atreus when he asked if gaints die from old age
And the second is : the world serpent talked at the first time when he meet atreus and kretos and it seemed like an important speech but unfortinatly mimir wasn't there 2 translate it 🌚💔
.
And about (god of war fallen god) believe me it isnt gonna be aierd cause we're gonna see it in the next god of war game 🌚💔
All he said was "Eitr Imbued". It gave the axe 2 magic attacks.

I mean after that
He talked, said somthing, unfortinatly mimir wasn't there 🌚💔
0:15 so underrated
It kill for someone to free cam around there and take a closer look at the Giants.
I’m just waiting to see Kratos without the ashes again lol
I'm still so pumped for Thor. They've really set him up to be equal to Kratos in his power and ferocity.
Whitch is nice untill you reallize just how many gods have been build up like him and died like bitches
Krathos os the perfect solider is soo storng they dont wont him to go to asgard out of fear
When he says "I'll sleep through winter" it makes me think it literally happened
Thor might have attacked the giants since he assumed the prophecy is over
So they’re technically stuck in a time loop
yep, common theme as vikings believed time was cyclical
Callum Hoffman like Nietzsche, or jormungandr, he represents the eternal retine like Uroboro
Just gonna put this out there just in case...the good guys can sometimes be the bad guys, maybe tyr killed the giants(not sure how)and then locked the realm so noone could find them or something like that
This is an amazing theory
Atreus: no giants are just people size
Kratos: smirks I was right
When Atreus hears voices in alfheim could that be when the battle takes place? Also, when kratos says "let me know when it happens again." Atreus said he would let him know but after that he doesn't hear the voices again or he simply doesn't tell us.
The time flows differently in each realm, so maybe thor came in a long past to kill every giants or maybe Surtur with his giants destroyed the life in Jotunheim. Or maybe this is the future of ragnarok. Anyway i think faye's ashes can revive the good giants. Sorry if i wrote something bad im not english
So why is Faye's body so small compared to the other giants
Atreus leaves jotunheim, excited to play cyberpunk, only to realize he’s gotta go back because it’s been delayed another month
Yeah, and Kratos gathers the armies of ragnarok!
@@alexthegreat8001 I could see Kratos giving the Giants a second chance at fighting. Either with help from the Valkyries or some time manipulation. Seems like most other races would probably dislike Kratos because his reputation proceeds him in the way that he interferes sometimes without anyone asking. The light and dark elf war for example, and he did unleash a few dragons onto the world. Can't wait for this next game!
@@Koi_Swirl
Well, maybe those dragons would help. So, that would be the giants, the valkyries, some dragons, jormungand, kratos, and potentially Loki.
