I decided to go to my Local Silver Coin Dealer and grabbed a BU/MS Roll of Constitutional Silver filled with all of his available Morgan Dollars, which I was hoping would contain some rare or valubale VAMs (any of the Top 100 Morgan VAM Varieties).

Those were some sweet VAM's - especially finding a Hot 50 VAM! My LCS doesn't check any of his coins for errors or varieties - and I have scored some nice finds. Another great video!

Love this. Just bought my first bunch of Morgan Dollars to see what I could figure out about VAMs. Started looking and within the first 5 I found 2 1889 7a1b VAMs. Nothing big, but nice none the less. Thanks for doing this. The more we learn, the better.

I've always called VAM's Value Added Markings! I never knew there real story!
You know I actually own The Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars 1976 edition and I have in it the Preservation and Storage section from the 1998 edition. I got them to make videos about, why I don't care if people don't want me to clean my Morgan Silver Dollars. Yep I'm a Evil Coin Cleaning Prepping Stacker. and I look just like this 🤠
Did you know in the 1998 edition it says you may have to Clean your Morgan in order to see what VAM it is.
It also says not to clean Morgan's
And then it tells you how to clean Morgan's
Now that is Coin Collecting Stacker Logic for sure.
Nice! Looking at 20 misc Morgans I have using a magnifying glass....that microscope is sweet.

Great video Rob! VAM hunting has become a mild obsession of mine! So far I'm 2 for 2 on submitting them and getting straight grades! I have several more I have identified, but unfortunately they aren't currently recognized by PCGS.

Have 3 identified from my First 9, one is 1890-O VAM 10A Comet Tail, 1891-S VAM 3 Double Stars, and 1879-O VAM 43 Lump on Arrow.

Wow... I learned something.. Thought it meant "Value Added Morgan" A coin shop told me that like 3 years ago so I always believed it. I mean it kinda does, but never thought it applied to Peace dollars. Over all great video! Now I got Morgan's to check! :)

I've been watching you for almost 4 years & I've watched all your videos except all posted before I started watching.
I've wandered what VAM means. I have a handful of Morgan Dollars but have not had the time to Search them yet, so I've not looked into it yet.
I think you should say what VAM means at least a couple times a year, you have a lot of new subscribers and I'm sure most do not know what VAM means before you tell them!!
I always thought VAM was ‘ varieties and miscellaneous ‘
Hey Rob, I've got a coin that I'd like help with. It's an 1884P Morgan Silver, and it certainly weighs true to be a real one. However, it's got an interesting characteristic I've never seen before in any coin! Where in most coins the obverse and the reverse would be 180degrees offset from one another (if the head is standing upright, the eagle would be upside down). Not this coin! Both the head and eagle are facing the same direction (both would be "standing" at the same time, if that makes sense). I can't find any information on what this coin could be, and would love for some feedback or maybe help! Thank you and I love watching your videos man!

@@fazthatcoyote yes, anything more than 10 degrees is worth a little more (special case of 180 degrees would command higher premium, probably submit it )

Very interesting and informative brother 👍. They are the big boy pants of coin collecting. It's amazing that these are $1 coins that have gone way above their original value. 1878 to 1921. The first public telephone was invented 1889. Cars didn't start driving on paved roads until 1920. Just to give you idea how old these coins are.
