Just FYI to folks. I have years of industry experience in data management & analytics. My lack of degree was holding me back from jobs. So, went to college. Graduated with a masters. And.. no job. Companies don't hire degrees, they hire tool skills. Learn softwares. Get certs. Get jobs. I've wasted 2 years after graduation creating project portfolios & code examples trying to demonstrate analytics skill. Nobody cares. All they care about is how many softwares are on your resume, and how many certs you have to back it up (if you don't have working experience). If you want to go for a degree, get a Bach and move on. Colleges don't offer enough enterprise-level softwares to give you the software skills you need to be marketable / employable after college. Folks coming out of college with degrees in IS are having to hustle to learn on their own. So, before exploring college, shore up tool skills and see where that takes you. I'm currently hustling trying to play catch-up. And it sucks.

Awesome, thanks for the review. I'm working on the Google IT Automation with Python Professional Certificate right now. I'll definitely go into the Data Analytics next.

I'd really love to work in the industry, and now I'm interested in learning more about python. I just hope that having a master's degree in design / communication, and not in mathematics / computer science disciplines, will not penalize me in the job search (in Italy or elsewhere). You can complete the course in 3 months and it will be about $120, you will gain a tremendous amount of knowledge. I am in Week 5 of the course and hopefully will complete it in about a month. Started a week ago and already completed 4 weeks. You will get a job, lots of data analysis job waiting for you.
@@nicoleenesse One area is that they could have improved the hands on activities. I found that there were quite a few areas where it wasn't entirely clear how to perform some of the steps. I'm no beginner at spreadsheets or SQL so I was able to work my way through it but I can imagine actual beginners finding some of it frustrating. Also, speaking of SQL there was a major jump from them showing you how to do basic queries, to nested queries and some more advanced functions. They never showed the intermediate steps, rather they glossed over it and told you to copy the script and execute 😞 Another, thing was that it was like information overload sometimes where they would give you a ton external reading resources. Overall it was an alright primer for data analysis but I sort of expected more. I finished it in 2 months and like many others will find other resources to continue learning. Still though I won't comment and say they didn't teach anything. It's just if I'm being honest, I actually gained more insight following portfolio projects from Alex The Analyst or Analyze with Ali (I think that's his channel).
This video just got me pregnant. WTF. Now Pay me child support. That Google Certification is going to finance my expensive lifestyle and retirement. Thanks alot.
Thank you so much for this review. Very, very helpful. Question will it still land me a job using just this certificate and skills even though I do not have any college degree?
Here in Brazil the sallary is R$40.000 per year, not good, but not bad. I'm working on server support earn way more than that, but I know people stuck on their careers than this certification could change their lives. My sister is stuck in the same kind of work for years earning way less than that.
So even after completing the course content, you need 6 months of experience to land a job? or are you saying that the certificate counts as your 6 months of experience? Really enjoyed this video. Thank you!
as I have researched, it takes around 10 hours a week in order to complete it in 6 months. But I will allow someone who has actual took it/doing it give a proper answer. Hope this helps in the meantime.
I completed 4 weeks of courses in 1 week, I am in the 5th week now, it depends on how fast you want to complete the program. I will complete it in 1 month is my goal.
@@johnsonajayi7846 I agree with this. Depends on how much time you have. I have nothing but time and motivation. I'm also projecting about a month before finishing and being comfortable with utilizing what I've learned. It also helps that I'm already familiar with various aspects involved. I think it would certainly take longer if someone is starting with virtually no prior knowledge.
To be honest, after the 4th week, my energy was drained. I am not spending that much hours again, it is too much. I am just taking this course for pleasure and hope to use it for a new job that requires data analysis. I hope to complete it in 4 months so that I can have a life to enjoy. I am not in Course 3 of 8.
for the recored: see this as a skill set to be ahead of the rest of those who will need to catch up. Especially like those who have the chance to live in a different country other than their own.
Very much interested in data analytics and this certificate program. If I have no IT experience, do you think it be ok to skip the Google support certificate program? Love the videos btw. You’re awesome.
Very Very good video!! Thank you it was very informative!!! Question! I am currently in the Google Analytics certificate program (just started) and I was wondering after I complete it (I do not have a college degree) and I have a strong portfolio would I still be able to land a job without a college degree? Thanks in advance :)
I am not 100% sure what i want to do with my life. Im between cyber security, data analytics, and salesforce admin. Ive already started a microbachelors degree on edx for cyber security but i got discouraged because of how much i did not understand. I was halfway through the degree and hit a pitfall. Now i dont know what direction i should go in.
Are you sure that you did not understand? Do you really love cybersecurity? Have you looked for opportunities in organizations that have a combined role for all of your interest areas? For example, I love electronics & circuit design but I also like data analysis, so I'm trying to find opportunities that does both! And it's okay if you haven't found a role that does that until now. But if you haven't tried exploring such options, this might be the right time and that might motivate you to complete this degree. And what's your learning style? Many a times, we do not absorb information because the course might be suited for learners with a different learning style. If that's the case, try to keep your self motivated by looking for other resources in the course that might help you understand and complete the micro bachelor's degree. You're half way through and you will get the reward after completing it. And think about the benefits to completing this degree before making a decision - 1. You will receive the basic knowledge required to keep yourself updated in this field. 2. You will recieve a certificate of accomplishment for the degree that will definitely add value to your resume if you wish to take this career path. 3. Simply taking this course and trying to understand the basics will help you decide if you really love cybersecurity. If you decide to stop taking the course now, please make sure that you will not have any regrets later!
Hello Nicole, thanks for sharing your genuine thoughts about it. I wonder that when i get the certificate after i finish the course, can i still access courses in order to keep fresh these knowledges?

@@hashbrown7669 I got a job just last month. I completed the course about 3 months ago and began aggressively looking for 2months. Got called by a recruiter, interviewed about two days later and got the offer the next day! I would say that the course gave me all the right lingo and confidence to talk about my skills and tie it into some of my past amateurish data analytics work. I have previously done some data cleaning and visualization for a non-profit. My advice to anyone, do the course!
Thanks Nicole for such useful content. With this certificate, a project in your portfolio and a background in finance, is it possible to get a remote job in the USA, Canada or Europe while living in another country?
After your done with the course, do you cancel the $39/month subscription with Coursera or is the $39/month in effect until you complete the certification and then the $39/month cancels at that time? How does it work?
do you recommend studying Python at the same time, or after the course? coming from a beginner, changing their career path with less than no experience in computer science/ data analytics love your video!
I am currently pursuing and will be graduating with my degree in public health/ health and wellness in the spring next year and want to transition into the health informatics side and want to start an entry level health data analyst, could this certification help me secure one after graduation?
Thanks for your insight! Please help....I have a degree but not in anything IT related. Logistics degree. Would it be better if I go back for a second degree in Data Analytics or do the Google Analytics program instead? Will the Google program and my non-IT related degree be enough at the beginning to land a data analyst job? Thank you!

Do you think starting with this certification will help me to switch my career to data analyst field? Please suggest. TIA🙂
I am thinking about if it is worth enrolling but don't know if I would manage to finish it. How are they checking if we know it right? If I do one part bad, is it possible to try again or if I just fail? Questions like that. Maybe I should try the free trial and then decide.
Hi, Amazing videos you have! One question for you and for everyone. I actually work for the militaries and I don't have a degree, but I want to change careers. Would it be possible for me to get a job in an entry level position as a data analyst after finishing the IBM data analyst certificate??
You should apply for further Advance learning courses mate, with just IBM certificate isn't enough ( 50% ) but yeah still what matters most is how many tools you know, nowadays companies really into those who understands deeply with a bunch of needed tools. Degree is for getting knowledge of how things works but without skills knowing isn't enough. I'm also getting myself ready for applying to Google Data Analytics Course next year and will do further Advances like A+ and so on. So i would recommend complete your IBM certificate then move into advance and surely it adds most likely 99.9% of positivity with Job apply.
I graduated this past December with a bachelors in cyber security and I have no IT experience, no internship experience or no cyber security experience (besides class work) and in your opinion do you think the certification can help me land a job with my cyber security degree? And how does data analytics and cyber security go hand in hand?
Googl Data Analytics is for a career as a data analyst. google Analyitcs is social media and used to track website numbers and growth. They are very different. Depends on what you want to do
Thank you. I am considering taking the course, but it is a big time investment (I already have a job, in IT as process & functional analyst, but not as data analyst..). Would you recommend to invest that time? (Is 180 or 260hs?) Thanx
Knowledge is power, the more knowledge you have, the more marketable you are. Take the class, you can complete it in 2 months costing you $78, you cannot beat that and you can display the certificate on your resume.

Hello I am currently doing a coding bootcamp and considering doing this after to get more experience with data I also have a friend who is interested my question is can this certification alone get you a job and if not what else or what other certs do you recommend or do you just practice after the cert and build a portfolio to get you job interviews
People have said they have gotten jobs, but I would deff create a killer good resume. There are a lot of good youtube tutorials on creating a data portfolio by other youtubers
I disagree. It may not go very indept but it absolutely does teach you how to access a DB with SQL, and the R programming while light by one of the Capstone's they'll teach you how to clean the csv's and store the clean version in a new data frame, which you can run your final functions to summarize and export. I think if one wants to do more, time to start looking for projects and finding a job that'll give you daily tasks.
Can someone please help me out !! I've completed 5 weeks of course 1 and got the certificate for that. and i'm a financial aid student. Now how to go to course 2?
If you would like to receive financial aid for a specialization, you need to submit separate financial aid applications for every new course as you go through the specialization! Apply for the second course and while you wait for it to get approved, you could continue to audit the course. Please note that you would not be able to take the graded assignments until your financial aid is approved.
Hello there, I confused for the course fee. Would you help to explain it to me? I enrolled the first course two weeks ago, free 7 days and then charged the first monthly billing. When it’s 14th day, the day I’ve completed all five weeks materials for the first course, it required to “enroll” for the second cource. My questions are: 1. Will the first course keep charging in the next month? 2. Will the second course also has a free 7 days trial or counted as a part of the on-going billing charged accumulated from couse one?
You will be charged each month from now on until you complete the course. If you complete it 1 day after your billing cycle, you will still be charged for that month.
Is it possible to get an entry-level job with this Certificate and a good project on your portfolio? or is it required to have a B.S Degree to even consider it?

@@nicoleenesse One area is that they could have improved the hands on activities. I found that there were quite a few areas where it wasn't entirely clear how to perform some of the steps. I'm no beginner at spreadsheets or SQL so I was able to work my way through it but I can imagine actual beginners finding some of it frustrating. Also, speaking of SQL there was a major jump from them showing you how to do basic queries, to nested queries and some more advanced functions. They never showed the intermediate steps, rather they glossed over it and told you to copy the script and execute 😞
Another, thing was that it was like information overload sometimes where they would give you a ton external reading resources.
@@seekerj1643 Thank you for your detailed response!!
Currently taking the Google Data Analytics cert. course.
This video just got me pregnant. WTF. Now Pay me child support. That Google Certification is going to finance my expensive lifestyle and retirement. Thanks alot.
LMAO. Thanks
Thanks for the review
No problem 👍
Thank you so much for this review. Very, very helpful. Question will it still land me a job using just this certificate and skills even though I do not have any college degree?
Here in Brazil the sallary is R$40.000 per year, not good, but not bad.
I'm working on server support earn way more than that, but I know people stuck on their careers than this certification could change their lives.
My sister is stuck in the same kind of work for years earning way less than that.
yeeks
So even after completing the course content, you need 6 months of experience to land a job? or are you saying that the certificate counts as your 6 months of experience? Really enjoyed this video. Thank you!
as I have researched, it takes around 10 hours a week in order to complete it in 6 months. But I will allow someone who has actual took it/doing it give a proper answer. Hope this helps in the meantime.
It will depend on the job, but if you make a portfolio and frame it on your resume in the correct way... it will definitely be six months!
Yes!
Thank you this was so helpful. :)
Thank you!
Very much interested in data analytics and this certificate program. If I have no IT experience, do you think it be ok to skip the Google support certificate program? Love the videos btw. You’re awesome.
Ehhhhh. Depends on the field you are going into. It would be good to know the basics of IT for more context
Good review...well done.
Very Very good video!! Thank you it was very informative!!! Question! I am currently in the Google Analytics certificate program (just started) and I was wondering after I complete it (I do not have a college degree) and I have a strong portfolio would I still be able to land a job without a college degree? Thanks in advance :)
That’s what I wanna know I really don’t want to waste time other wise I’ll just learn coding
Very informative video,Thanks
Thanks!
Nicole you're Amazing!!! 😍😁
You're the best!
Awaited Content 💯
Thanks!
You should try UI/UX design
Follow your intuition! Which one do you like best?
Yes you do if you get the certificate

Thank you!
Thanks for this! I've started the course and almost through the first part of 8. I want to set a deadline to keep me committed. How many hours per day did you study for the 2months you took to complete it?
about 1-2 hours. Sometimes more sometimes less. 1 hour a day is super easy to do
@@nicoleenesse Thank you! Got through the first course. Pushing on to the next!

Yes, it is! You will need sponsorship however which can be tricky to get
After your done with the course, do you cancel the $39/month subscription with Coursera or is the $39/month in effect until you complete the certification and then the $39/month cancels at that time? How does it work?

0 experience, with no degree. Would the still be an option? Would there be other courses you’d recommend prior to this one or in combination?
do you recommend studying Python at the same time, or after the course? coming from a beginner, changing their career path with less than no experience in computer science/ data analytics
love your video!
I would do Python after. The course is no joke, and you might get overwhelmed trying to learn to many things at once

ON average 2 hrs. a day..but sometimes I did more somtimes less
Thank you!
The google cert isn't a replacement, but will teach you skills that could help you get a job. Alex the Analyst goes over in depth about data analytics
How long do you think it would take to get a job with no experience and are there part time opportunities?
Hi Nicole, I am a business graduate and have been working as Accounts Payable executive for last 4 years. I want to change my career path and would love to work as Data Analyst. Do you think starting with this certification will help me to switch my career to data analyst field? Please suggest. TIA🙂
It would give you a good base. Alex the Data Analyst on youtube goes more into depth with getting a data analyst job, I would start there!
Thank you so much, Nicole!
You are so welcome!
I am thinking about if it is worth enrolling but don't know if I would manage to finish it. How are they checking if we know it right? If I do one part bad, is it possible to try again or if I just fail? Questions like that. Maybe I should try the free trial and then decide.
They do quizes, you can try as many times as you want. The trial is a good idea
Hi, Amazing videos you have! One question for you and for everyone. I actually work for the militaries and I don't have a degree, but I want to change careers. Would it be possible for me to get a job in an entry level position as a data analyst after finishing the IBM data analyst certificate??
It has helped people get a job! I would do the certificates and then do some of the projects you see around
The only thing I hate about this course is pushing towards learning R as a beginner instead of Python.
I concur
I like R, it's more applicable as a data ANALYST rather than a data SCIENTIST which is what a lot of people confuse.
I’ve got experience in Power BI. So is SQL and excel necessary?
Has anyone landed a job or just an interview with no degree upon completion?
I graduated this past December with a bachelors in cyber security and I have no IT experience, no internship experience or no cyber security experience (besides class work) and in your opinion do you think the certification can help me land a job with my cyber security degree? And how does data analytics and cyber security go hand in hand?
It can help. Luke Barouse just did a video on people who landed a job with this cert. I would check it out!
What is the difference between google analytics and google data analytics professional certification? Which one should I do?
Googl Data Analytics is for a career as a data analyst. google Analyitcs is social media and used to track website numbers and growth. They are very different. Depends on what you want to do
@@nicoleenesse Thank you
Thank you. I am considering taking the course, but it is a big time investment (I already have a job, in IT as process & functional analyst, but not as data analyst..). Would you recommend to invest that time? (Is 180 or 260hs?) Thanx
If you are looking for a career changes, yes!
@@nicoleenesse I would say a "skill improvement"... what do u think ?
Knowledge is power, the more knowledge you have, the more marketable you are. Take the class, you can complete it in 2 months costing you $78, you cannot beat that and you can display the certificate on your resume.

Entry Level helpdesk positions or desktop support

People have said they have gotten jobs, but I would deff create a killer good resume. There are a lot of good youtube tutorials on creating a data portfolio by other youtubers
@@nicoleenesse ok thank you
It does not teach u R programming just introduction neither data cleaning techniques, like how access database using SQL ,
Yes, entry level skills
Yes Priyanka is correct
Nicole, how would diversity of instructors matter for the course?
It represents underrepresented groups in tech that may be intimidated by lack of women/minorities in the field
Do jobs like for you to have a certification in Google? I graduated with a humanities degree.
If you don't have any technical experience, it will look great
For every course, is there any online materials that you can download for future reference?
If you complete you get lifetime access
@@nicoleenesse Thank you!
Could u please send me the resume template in your video?
