Just got Keith's joke about his finger - the lady trod on his finger because he was crawling back into the hotel drunk 😂😂
I’ve never seen a young Rick Stein
jeff king it made want to go and find some more clips. The only thing recognised was his voice..
It's a first for me too. And so lovely to see a video that is posted almost 10 years ago, get so much reactions the last couple of weeks. Loved to see 2 of my heroes in the same video.
And you still haven’t.
@Midnight Toker chill out bra
These two seem like they’re both competing hard for the camera and microphone. lol
Not really
Cooking legends and I could watch them both all day long :)
Stein not in Floyd's class.
I loved watching these two when I was a kid
No one compares to Floyd i find stein quite boring .. His shows are good but Floyd was on a different level in front of a camera ...
Rest in Peace, David Pritchard and Keith Floyd.
ANG Belgium well said and Amen
Floyd on fish 1984 great episodes loved it music by the stranglers remember made today's chefs millionaires
My respect for Floyd has doubled after seeing how senior he is to Rick Stine! The guy was the god of British Food Culture!
Alpha!
He’s a a bit of a dick head, you can see Stein thinking what a prick but this is good publicity, I’ll have a chat with this producer and get my own show and that’s what he did.
Rick seems somewhat nervous in the Master's presence here.....No shame in that!
If i'm not mistaken the first time Rick Stein was on tv was cooking on Keith Floyds show, it was a different episode to this.
Yuk. Shark hasn't been bled.
two of the best tv cooks, love them both, r.i.p floyd.
Loved Floyd nobody like him put all these top chefs on the map he was a 1 off rip. Keith ❤
I think he wanted to rinse the blood off the shark first
@@mr.e0311 Not so much that but rather Keith was probably drunk. He never did anything on TV without a drink in his hand. Having said that, he was very well respected for his culinary knowledge and cooking skills. He just made a simple mistake is all.
@@mr.e0311 Important enough for you to comment on and reply again over it.
@@Levi_Skardsen I can't imagine the weakness of your constitution if you think having a glass of wine while cooking makes one drunk.
@@ae4164 I was alluding to the well known fact that Keith was an alcoholic, who was often inebriated while presenting his shows.
@@Levi_Skardsen wron!
0:32 Rick needs to be sorting out those knives! Star chef with knives that wouldn't cut butter! Embarrassing!
never seen floyd without a glass of wine
Check his grave
@@IrishAndy85 you got a shovel?
It's right there by the table.
7:27 - 7:31
Keith was a Master - sorely missed on our TV screens
man cutting thru the shark skin was HELL!!! >.
The first cookery program I really took an interest in
Legend Keith 😊
This is the definition of british
@Wally Banter he said that 4 years ago lol
That's a jolly witty wasn't it old sport
@@JoeZUGOOLA Jolly good show old chap, hear hear l.
@Midnight Toker You don't matter
@Midnight Toker Plz don't hurt me
Hah, these Brits crack me up, good stuff.
Keith was groundbreaking.
Floyds a fairly endearing dude. The passion is infectious, especially after a couple of wines
Two of the best chefs ever
Love keith, Always drinking! :) Epic non fussy days of Brutal english gastronomy 🤪when they had balls to try out anything and have the honesty to say if it was bad or not. now a days... more measured 🧐, careful 🤔 and precise 🤓. ahh you really get the feeling they where young brash and crazy :) (which in hindsight they where 🤣)
Oh dear I've never see them so young before, Rick still has so many dark hair by then!
Was that a baby mako? Or a small blue shark?
wow, two of my food heroes together
'I would have made it alright but she trod on my hands as I was trying to get into the hotel'
excuse me what?!
Sounds like old Floydo was down on all fours!
Ah they tucked in nicely at the end, must have been very nice :D
Floyd was a bit keen on the fermented grape juice.
His accident? An old lady trod on my finger as I was crossing the road to my hotel last night.
Classic!
Two legends.
Surprised at how many people in the comments are so sensitive about the blood. Here's a newsflash for you: animals bleed. If it upsets you so much, maybe you should consider vegetarianism.
keith alway had a glass in his hand
He was just keeping it warm! 😉
Should we be concerned about the amount of blood on these steaks? Young Mr Stein is a treat. Make sure it's fennel and not hemlock!
Just wouldn't be Keith without a glass in hand... RIP chef!
Rick's always been awkward in front off the camera and still is! Not sure how he made it!👍🏴☠️
WRT Fennel and "whenever you see it pick some": - In NZ fennel is an invasive weed. About 1977 down the road on "spare" land owned by the railways, there grew a large patch of just fennel, so large I tunnelled through the stalks and cleared a patch to grow another weed, though not a legal one.
Im not sure Keith liked Rick as he felt Rick had nicked is producer and director. But actually in this piece i feel even before thet Keith was intimidated by Rick. But also i really felt he wasn't pissed in this scetch and deliberately got Ricks name wrong
I'm gonna cook this up, but I'll have to make do with tinned sardines. It should still work.
shark steak, never thought of this
Me too Rick with a full head of dark hair Rick and Keith are my favourite chefs rip ✝️ Keith Floyd a gentleman and a scholar Godbless him
Done with too much haste, alcohol not cooked out properly, throwing booze on the grill.
They did appreciate food and were great entertainers but real ordinary chefs.
No washing the bloody shark damn.
"Succulent is a word"
2 of UK's prime kitchen alpha males, bumpity bump!! Hoho. These 2 must have launched a million meals, between them. Respect.
I quite like the two of them equally, but wasn’t Keith Floyd jealous of Rick Stein?, you can kind of see a touch of it here. The producers of Keith’s show went off to work with Rick Stein instead, I think the filming team found Keith difficult to work with, and Stein was the new guy on the scene. I can understand some anger over being abandoned by his team, but I don’t know why he would be so sour about his affairs, to me, he’s always seemed like a interesting guy and he just did his own thing and enjoyed himself to the full. Sometimes in life, it’s hard to notice our best attributes and often it takes others to point them out or at least reassure us.
What?
Floyd started with his own restaurant before the producer showed up for lunch one day.
He retired from the kitchen later to become a restaurateur...
but most definitely a real chef. or cook, if you're more comfortable with that term.
watched the full video now m starving hehe
is this r a f t
oh keith old boy, that looks awful
That's sum hair u got there Keith sure that ain't a syrup
Absolutely no problem with sustainable cooking! What is sustainable cooking, using the whole fish rather than just the dorsal fin and throwing the remainder back into the sea! Monkfish is the same use the whole fish! As for blood, the shark steak went straight onto the hottest grill, won't do any harm and the shark skin is fine provided its fresh which looking at the colour of the shark flesh it was! Great clip of two British greats!
these two people I love
That’s proof that you get great whites in British waters.
Keith and Rick are kings
"Make sure it's fennel not hemlock" uh oh....
Not used to seeing Rick looking so young with dark hair!
This is how American people think all British people talk.
Thanks for the upload bbc
Did you know blood is mainly just water? Wow. Yuck...and blood does not come out of a steak. That's haemoglobin. Thought I would give you all a science lesson because there's nothing disgusting here at all. Just goes to show how clueless most parents are, doesn't it, but hey they're good at making them.
Classic tv two greats of British cooking Keith Floyd (RIP) & Rick Steine
Used to give my sharks away from deep sea fishing on the boat ! I keep I'm Now, blackened shark is so good !!!!!!
3:45 missed or deliberately avoided a fantastic scale joke.
Well explain it cuz I don’t see it.
spinningchurro end of the ‘scale’ he was about to say. And it’s fish.
Mako shark cooks up like swordfish. We used to catch them right out of the ocean fresh. Really good stuff.
that was a porbeagle shark
Not the way I was taught to do shark. Maybe Pacific shark is different and requires different handling? Je ne sais pas.
hmm sharks...
@brunswick30robert Oh come on! FLoyd was a dxude! And Stein is a great chef!
Wow Rick Stein was actually young one day!
I love a good shark. It's the meatiest fish. Marinating it this way is how you do it.
Rick seems a bit grumpy here . . . . and yes, he looks so young
paddy9i99 most chefs are grumpy
If that porgie rikki, gonna be disapointed..
so.........?
Is it just me, or does that knife seem extremely dull? lol
Fascinating... Keith Floyd realising Rick Stein is a superior chef... then trying to 'ego' out of the situation.. wonderful stuff!
While I cannot understand why shark fins are well liked in China, it should be point out that sharks are generally not eaten because they dont taste good at all. You will need a strong sauce like what Keith is doing. The shark skin is simply too tough to be eaten.
SELLING SHARKS 1K EACH!!!
I really wanna try it!!!
would it be better if they drained the blood first?
@so1ange I don't care if he was the prime minister of England lol, that fool turned the heat up TWICE while his hand was over the grill!
White men. Amazing.
@AkuzaGhost the guy in the sweater or Keith Floyd was one of the most respected chefs from the UK, unfortunately he passed away a couple of years ago.
@TheRealAlanPartridge fresh sharks meat smells strange (because of fish fat) when it is raw, but if you cook it - it is very soft and tasty.
I'm interested in this response. I'm genuinely willing to accept this either way, but why is a shark's life more valuable than any other creature killed for food, in your opinion?
Sperm whales also prey on sharks, do you also think this shouldn't happen?
If anyone else has an answer please say! I'm fascinated by where these views come from.
It's fair enough to say "shouldn't be hunted and eaten"...but you must give a reason why. :)
One word - yuck!
Why are they speaking of weight in pounds? That's awesome! I usually can't understand that stupid stone shit.
Rick’s got hair
Please date this.
We're the best predators on Earth. We kill and eat sharks and we can't even swim very well. Some even say we're too good at being predators for our own good.
did you notice he cut up the shark a put it staight in the oil without washing it how disgusting he had all blood on his hands
Fish cheeks...one cheek for Madame, and another for guest of honour.
Why oh why am I reminded of Hannibal Rising when he said cheek.
Shark is extremely dry, is grilling the best option?
Noz Islam no no it’s still a fish so the meat is flaky, giving the impression of dryness, but by marinating, searing at a high temperature and resting, you can be sure to have a moist steak.
Which is why they served it with a sauce.
lol i was expecting to see a load of hippie protest comments xD
Amontillado, that shouldn't be medium sweet... it should be of the driest caliber of sherry... right? Or are there different ones?
Classic stuff!
Classic Floyd and a very young Rick. I’ve read Rick’s memoir and he gives great credit to Keith Floyd. Why didnt you, Rick, wash the blood off the shark?
Gotta say that dish look very toothsome indeed. Shark's quite plain so the fiery sauce go nice. Looks like the the old kitchen at the Seafood Rest. back before they had it all done out. I last ate there in 1999! OMG !!
I had one of those grills, back in my flat in Willesden, innit. I love watching these two geezers - clash of the titans! Floyd much more polite than the encounter with 'Nick'... hahahahaha
Always thought Shark meat was horrible because they piss through their flesh?
I love Kieth Floyd & Rick Stein's shows but I wouldn't consider ever cooking anything they make on them, more like food documentaries than cooking shows 🤔
Damn I love me a nice shark steak, shame they're really only a special treat in my house. Definitely a classic style with the olive oil and lemon marinade on the grill, but I never thought of actually placing dried herbs on there. Would be even better on an good ol' American kettle-style grill, although perhaps a bit too smokey, especially with the sherry and Worcestershire based sauce.
@TheDangad have you ever tried to open up those stones to get to the pounds and buy some stuff with it?
God i do know later in life Keiths old director was Ricks Director. Looking at this i can see even in those days there was slight tention
Can someone tell me what brand of Olive Oil Keith used for the sauce; DURU/I...DUPU/I ?
When the heckingtons was this?
1985 I think, as part of 'Floyd on Food' - it was his second series. Rick Stein had already appeared in an episode of 'Floyd on Fish' (1984)
2 of my favourite chefs! I must say though, that tomato has seen better days!
