Superb! Reminds me of a similar trip in July 1984 with 40160 on the SuO York-Carlisle - last minute replacement for a Spoon which collapsed before departure, and a nice surprise for those waiting at Leeds. Did the full round trip, and 160 gave it her all, arriving back at York with her bodyside streaked in oil, but wouldn't have changed a minute of it!
Yes truly magnificent machines how they whistled and then showed you their teeth. Beautiful piece of British engineering from the 60s. I agree with Ribblehead comments to 😊
I have Photo`s of Aureol on Garston Depot, she was renumbered class 97, when they were remodelling Crewe. There was two or three that were stabled on Garston holding siding, used on the many Ballast trains for the remodelling project. Happy Days.
Loco's with Character and Soul. Not like the bland tin boxes of today. Sadly missed. All those happy young lads,, Not Mobile phone in sight. Proper youth. 👍😁
Awsome!!! All of us in our forties remeber those days! magic they were.... but with posts like these the days allways remain! all thats missing is the smells! Cheers mate!!!!!!!
40052 !!!! I remember having that on 1S60 or maybe 1S66 back in the early 80's Grantham - Darlington. A couple of years previous it would of been a Deltic, I thought sad, but this 40 gave me great pleasure when leaning out of the window leaving Grantham, oh the noise !!!!! Awesome !!!!!!
Hellfire video! Looks like it could be a 40 basher called Fraser flailing out the front at 3.40, he still does bashing now but not quite so desperate (well, sort of!)
Love these classic Videos from the 1980s or say the 70s to the 60s with Locomotion like this 🎼🎶

Had a ride between Carlisle and Leeds behind 40012 in 1983 - 4 carriages, Mk1 stock, whole compartment to myself - heaven!

I don't volunteer for the CFA but I love Baggy.
Healthy freight activity in the sidings at Skipton.
Looks more like spoil ballast to me.

A cheap much maligned hobby...but boy it was fun!
Lamest driver ever..
