great stuff, for the car buffs also on shed were - reliant, volvo 240, ford granada, mk1 datsun sunny, mk2 transit, fiat strada red, blue ambassader/princess & in front of these i think a colt coupe!
I was living close to Birkenhead Mollington St shed around then, and took lots of photos of rats, 40s and the odd 47 there. Very similar to the scenes at Longsight. Never saw any railway workers at weekends.....nor their cars!
Wonderful video. One of the best. The sounds take me right back to my youth and the great age of diesel! Being local to Longsight I'm wondering where the footage from the bridge was shot?
your not related to John Sivori who used to sell ice cream in Longsight and later he had a cafe in Levenshulme next to Shearing Coach depot per chance? I knew the Sivori family well I was born in Tallis St and Grew up in Rushford Street and spent most of my free time in the subway entrance at Longsight Sheds many thanks Paul
Loved the footage of the working Rat, brought back some good memories for me.
