  • In this video, Michelle shows you her Top 3 Finger Stiffness Exercises. These exercises are easy enough for the beginner starting to move their fingers again after an injury. These finger stiffness exercises can also prevent unwanted stiffness due to finger arthritis.
In this follow along video, you'll learn how to increase your finger mobility by moving the small joints of your fingers. By the end of these exercises your whole hand will feel more flexible and free from stiffness.
And added bonus is that no equipment is needed to do these beginner finger stiffness exercises.
All of these exercises work on improving the mobility of your long finger flexors and increase your finger joint range of motion. If you are starting to use your hand again after a finger fracture, hand injury, or looking to get ahead of achy arthritis, these exercises will help!
I am such a huge advocate of finding exercises and movement that increase your finger mobility and hand function. I know you'll find these exercises effective and easy to follow, even without having to use any equipment.
Please comment below to let me, and others, know which one of these (or if all) of these exercises helped you. And share this video with friends and family... I'm sure their hands could use a little TLC too!

Hello Michelle. I don't even know what to say, this is such a lifesaver. I have been praying and waiting on the Lord for my healing and I know that He is my healer! It is also good to do therapy and I do not use insurance and I do not have extra funds for this type of specific therapy. I am thrilled to have found your videos. I injured my pinky finger three and a half months ago and then reinjured it twice since then. ..just being a busy busy hard working mom. I basically banged it really hard, then I really did not take care of it and then banged it really hard since then, twice. then one day when I was cleaning an Airbnb, I dropped a plate on it. I did not ice it and I just finished doing all of the cleaning at the Airbnb. So I have been beside myself, worried and in tears, feeling like I will never be able to use my hand again. I have been trusting the Lord and declaring healing over myself. God's Word says that by His strips we are healed, and it is true. He is healing me! I appreciate your free videos more than you know!! Thank you so very much!!! May God Bless you Michelle for all of your precious giving!

I've had gout issues in my hands and had a bad attack in my left hand over two years ago. I've tried all kind of things. My index finger doesn't have much range of motion at all. I'm mainly a bass player and it doesn't affect that so much. I do play a little bit of guitar and I'm having trouble playing a couple basic chords that I didn't have trouble playing before. I did the exercises on that finger and I'm feeling clicking in there now. I have a feeling this is going to work and I will continuously do the exercises. I do want to thank you very much. I can do most things but it really bothers me that those couple basic chords I can't play well anymore. Anyway I will try to keep you posted. Thanks again. Happy new year.

Great video. These exercises already help. I know a lot of people who would love to see a video on how to recovery from pulley injuries that often happen to rock climbers. There are already some videos on this but you have a really nice presentation style and are incredibly knowledgeable about the specifics of fingers. I have a pulley injury on my index finger (a mild strain, just irritated, nothing requiring surgery) but is taking a really long time to go away. I would love to hear your suggestions for how to rehab this. There are a LOT of rock climbers who would be very interested I'm sure. Thank you for your videos. They're great.

Thank you, I hope so. So far the only way to make this easier is to use damp hand socks and heat.
I worked with a temp agency since 2019 so I didn't have insurance, so when I fell on 6/27/21 and broke it, I couldn't get the care I needed until insurance kicked in. So my fingers haven't been bent since end of June.
Surgeon had to re-break my wrist, got 2 clips inserted, bone graph and plate.
I'm glad I found your channel, I only had so far 1 hand therapy session. More on the way. My hope is back. Hand therapy is awesome, painful and so necessary.

@@therealistseb6597 I had surgery about 2 months ago and am doing hand therapy at the moment.
I can’t quite form a fist but my right index finger has more mobility than right after surgery.

@@dnangel4277 That’s awesome, keep at it!
Mine is dislocated and broken. The strap that she recommends in the video works a lot. I slept with it on, and that’s what did it for me to be able to open and close my hand daily.

I've been a follower of this channel for a few months and found some of the execr-ized useful for regaining hand mobiltiy. I broke my wrist and required surgery.
In the accident my median nerve was damaged. I've had physical therapy and have regained full mobility of my hand. I can make a natural quick tight strong fist.
But because I'm getting bad feedback from my fingers it feels as if I'm stiff even when I'm not bending those two fingers or my thumb. As I'm slowly regaining sensation the sensation if stiffness is decreasing. My conclusion is that median nerve damage can be mistaken for joint stiffness. Faulty proprioception and lack of fine sensation can be mistaken for loss of mobility if you aren't looking at the hand as you use it. Peripheral neuropathy can have the same effect.
My point is that exercises need to be matched to actual needs and the person who has a problem may not be able to identify exactly what the problem is. imo That is why an evaluation by a PTs isn't just useful, but necessary.

Thank you for sharing your experience and I completely agree with you! I wish more doctors would refer to Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists. Unfortunately, regulations, insurance, accessibility, and even lack of awareness are still challenges to many people receiving services.

Hey I have a question if you don’t mind
I jammed my middle finger 2 months ago wrestling and it hasn’t gone down in swelling around the middle joint. The doctor put me in a splint for 2 weeks and now I can only bend it 50%. What should I do?

Hello, I'm 13 and about 2 weeks ago when I was training jiu jitsu, a little accident happened and my ring finger on my left got dislocated. My coach who used to do nursing attempted to relocate my finger. And well, it was better, not too twisted up anymore, just very slightly. Then later going back home, my finger was swelling up like crazy. I could barely move it, it just hurt. My 2 coaches said I didn't need to go to a doctor and to just have it heal by itself. The next day, I splinted my finger up, with a popsicle stick and an old stretchy sock. I had it splinted for just about a day. It was hard to straighten the finger but I managed to do it. Then after a few days my finger seemed like it was starting to get better. And now it's been about 2 weeks, my finger has gained quite a lot of its mobility and strength back, and I can effortlessly straighten the finger now. Only thing is, it's just still bruised quite a bit and I can't make a full fist yet. But I can nearly make a fist and fully bend the ring finger. So I'm just asking, in how long would you say I could start training again? Could I start training again with my finger taped up? And in how long would it fully heal without needing to go to a doctor? Thank you!
