Like others have said Tony, it looks to me like cannabis growing pots. We live in a rural area and when my husband was walking in the next village the other week he reached a farm where to be honest people tend to dump stuff on the grass verge. He came across at least two dozen felt type potato growing bags full of compost with the roots of plants and a bin bag full of foil. Obviously a harvest has happened and they get rid of perfectly good containers in the hedge just like your finds. Good for you picking them up, saves you money too!

      No... Not cannabis.
Cannabis tends to be grown in that expanded clay stuff (Leca) and it will tend to have SUPER thick root balls.
Also even as a starter for cannabis these are bad.
This is someone clearing out a greenhouse or something.
I wonder if a house has been sold and the previous owner had one of those small plastic greenhouses and was having a go at growing something.

I started a community plant pot and tray recycling scheme in two villages with help from the council Community Waste officer. Went very well -collected about 1000 and gave back to 3 schools for their growing projects, as well as local growers. Will do again this year. Some were shed/garden clearouts but over half were commercial contractors we think - all good quality with carry trays that would have ended up in landfill.

Thank you for showing everyone what a responsible person does. Life is far too short to stand around pointing fingers and bellyaching about this and that. A pointed finger never solved a single problem. I would however have taken the compost into a container and poured just enough boiling water to sterilize the soil and any weed seeds before adding to the compost bin. I saw someone do this a couple years ago with soil from yard sales as you do not know what is in it. We have a garden center that has bins for folks to drop-off the pots they have used and to pick up used pot for free all they have to do is clean them a bit. Several years ago I got enuf pot to last forever!!! I just rewash every year and save the money save the earth some plastic save the supply chain and so on. God bless y'all take care

I'm in very rural Devon on the border with Cornwall. Dartmoor in the distance, fields of sheep and cows. We get a few workmen or visitors, who sit in the wider pass by in the lane, have their lunch, dump pop tin, sandwich wrapper, crisp packet. BUT the RECYCLING team are the worst! They tip out the tubs, what goes on the floor doesn't get picked up. I do a fortnightly walk of 'my' lane. Half carrier bag of stuff? Tins, yoghurt pots, plastic meat and vegetable trays. There will always be a bit of litter that cannot be helped, the stuff that's accidently escaped & blew away from the garden etc? But most of it is basically what the recyclers should have taken.
    Good wishes!

They had an issue with their trailer of empty tree pots in flats ran the trailer off in the ditch ...flat tire. Pots flew down ditch and in field. Waited a few days they never got picked up! Snagged them threw broken in recycled and ended up with 30 good tree seedling pots! Got a wonderful tree a Turkish Hazelnut, that just is a great tree I can start. One persons trash is another ones treasure! Way better than the garbage I usually end up picking out of our ditches!

Years ago someone came down the alley in the middle of the night and dumped big garbage bags full of something down our alley. My neighbor came to get me about this. they were dumped all along the alley as they drove. I opened one up and they were full of rich potting soil with lots of pearlite, plus cut off plants and the roots remained. Obviously a harvest had happened and someone didn't know how to garden outside. After telling her this is great stuff for our flower beds we cleaned up the alley.
We didn't get any pots though.

They harvest the flower buds and get rid of the rest of the plant and all the equipment except the grow lights and fans etc. The plant leaf is low in THC in modern hybrids. Typically there will be plastic sheets taped together dumped. Last year I recovered a car full of compost which I grew pea shoots in. I also put a lot of leaf and stalk into my compost heaps.

I used to go to the cemetery and clean up the pots and potting soil that they put down on there dump but last year I got yelled at for trespassing which I thought was so stupid they just push the pots and soil over the bank after burning it what a waste

In all honesty who wants to live in an area that looks like a dump. I volunteer as a litter picker in my local area and it appears to be working. There is less and less litter to pick up, plus you meet and speak with people while you’re out and about. Tony your good deed is spot on, keep it up.

I doubt it’s a true gardener. More like someone clearing a garden or shed after moving in or out. Save the pots Tony

Unfortunately some people are selfish scumbags, when caught they should be named and shamed,or have something taken away.
