This time, we're covering the SCAR-H.
Unlocked at level 40, the SCAR design has seen multiple outings in Call of Duty: with the SCAR-H first seen in Modern Warfare 2, and the SCAR-L in MW3.
The FN SCAR, or Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle, is a Belgian weapon, designed and manufactured by FN Herstal.
Produced for a US SOCOM competition in 2004, FN's SCAR platform proved successful in testing and entered into service with the US Rangers in 2009.
The rifle is offered in two key variants: the SCAR-L, or 'light', firing the NATO intermediate cartridge; and the SCAR-H as seen in Black Ops 2, firing the NATO full-power rifle cartridge, the 7.62 by 51 millimetre round.
The SCAR-H is a modern battle rifle, festooned with Picatinny rails to appeal to Special Forces' need for flexibility and customisation.
In-game, damage is good, particularly for a fully automatic weapon.
You'll kill with 3 shots to the body, or two to the head - and the SCAR retains this lethality out to quite some distance, too.
Even at the longest ranges you'll never need more than four shots to kill, and with even a single headshot guaranteeing a 3-shot kill, you'll never be left wanting for power.
Penetration ability is good, too - above average for the assault rifles, and instead on par with the LMGs.
Rate of fire is relatively slow, at 625 rounds per minute.
This is on the lower end for automatic weapons, and may hamper the SCAR's consistency in close quarters.
While hipfire spread is the same as most other assault rifles, and you will only need to land 3 shots - the lower overall output may result in a slower time to kill than a faster firing weapon such as an SMG.
Recoil is high, with the weapon rapidly kicking upwards and to the right under automatic fire.
It can be moderated if the weapon is fired in bursts, and due to the high ranged damage it is quite possible to use the SCAR at a distance with good fire control.
Aim time is standard for the class, at 250 milliseconds - and your mobility is as expected too, at 95% of the base speed.
Magazine capacity is average, at 30 rounds - typical for an assault rifle.
Extended clip will take this capacity to 40 rounds instead.
Reloads are fairly average too, at 2.4 seconds to complete - slightly on the slow end for an assault rifle, but far from inconveniently long.
The SCAR-H is a powerful automatic weapon that can prove tough to handle, but otherwise offers deadly per-shot damage and an uncompromised ability to pierce cover.
It is its damage which proves to be the SCAR's key asset, with its consistent 3-shot kill out to a substantial range beating most other automatic weapons.
With its LMG-grade penetration, not much of this damage is lost when shooting through cover - and sometimes you might find yourself surprised with unexpected kills upon hapless enemies behind your intended target.
However, you pay for this awesome damage with some serious downsides: a slower rate of fire moderates your performance in closer quarters, while the heavy recoil demands good fire control to remain effective at a longer distance.
This means the SCAR-H proves most effective within a relatively narrow middle-range band - outside the reach of shotguns and SMGs, but at a distance where the recoil isn't too hard to control.
Still, the SCAR copes relatively well out of its element, as a player with good fire control can put the higher damage to task at almost any range.
While you might not be able to compete with SMGs up close, a slightly more cautious playstyle will limit this weakness.
Beyond merely scratching the surface, this weapon can cut deep and tear flesh behind: No doubt, the SCAR...
...will leave a lasting impression.

FN Herstal gets quite a few of their guns in CoD.
They make a lot of more modern firearms and they're very common in service with the US military which takes center stage in most of the CoD games - even our M16s and M4s are manufactured by them - so it'd make sense. I also think they enjoy the publicity and fees for using the likeness of their products.

kyle Ohhhhh... Oh yeah, its scientifically possible to kill an enemy with a frag grenade with not the detonation but hitting them with the actual object. Good strategy on oblivious campers. Just keep on rethrowing and you'll hit them enough to kill them.

@@fadhilahzaidan4946 well I think what he means is battlefield has so many weapons that theres a large overlap in stats between weapons in a single category, thus feeling like many weapons are too similar to others. Hes not entirely wrong, but there are a number of stand out and uniquely good weapons
It's also noteworthy that the Sensor Grenade will still laze enemies and point in their direction, even if they have Cold-Blooded. They may not come up on the mini-map, but if you suspect someone is lurking around a corner, you can toss it into a door-way and look to where the laser is pointing, or you can simply listen to it to give you notice that someone is there.
It has to be said, but Black Ops 2 is the closest CoD has come to multiplayer perfection

IMO I miss the good old three perks, one grenade, two lethals, a primary and a secondary with one attachment. the whole class flexibility thing pick ten offers pales in comparison to Cod4 or MW2. and let's be real here, killstreaks > scorestreaks
Fore Grip is very good on the SCAR. Not an attachment to brag about most of the time but the SCAR benefits a lot from it.

In MW2, the SCAR-H was one of the "big three" ARs that were pretty much the best in the game. Surprisingly, it was the most accurate of the three.
I even remember your pun from that MW2 guide episode: "The SCAR... will cut your opponents deep."
Personally I go with the target finder and laser when customizing this. Evens out close-range fights and makes it easier to identify and hit long-range foes. Dexterity is very useful here, as is scavenger and the perks that keep you from showing up red anywhere.

Target Finder + ExtyMag, as long as you reload cancel it's ridiculous, was my go to back in the day, was so OP.
The SCAR was made for camper killing, and this build here is spot-on for utilizing it efficiently. I personally use the MMS instead of FMJ because I don't like the SCAR's iron sights and also because its ability to shoot through material is highest in the assault rifle class, so FMJ's benefits are so minimal that it doesn't make a big enough difference to justify the attachment slot. Also, if you pair Lightweight and Adjustable stock with the SCAR it's like ice skating with ADS :P
Also, the Scar is one of the only guns where grip really does make a difference
finally we are covering the weapons we have all settled to using. The Scar H is a beast of a gun and i love dropping 3 or 4 enemies at middle range really quickly. Cant wait to give your setup a spin myself.

I acctually prefer ronin camo the most on the scar h. Tbh I dont like the look of gold or diamond, really just to show your accomplishment.

I use Stock and Dual Mags, lightweight ( you run at 102% speed, that is faster than a smg), toughness, dexterity, C4, Shock Charge, Kap 40 with laser/akimbo. That is an insane rushing class! And for the Killstreaks: use UAV, lightning strike/VSAT/AGR. Use the UAV and then two of the other. It is absolutly a beast.
I love how after 3-4 years of watching these reviews I still see people putting demands for what weapons they want to see next, even after he stated at the end of the video 'Join me next week for the RPG'

Nice to finally see some love to the sensor grenade. I'd like to see it buffed a bit, though, since there's almost no reason to take any tac nades over the EMP.
Quick tip! If you'd like, swapping the sensor grenade for the black hat could prove useful since you're destroying the enemy equipment with an non suppressed weapon. Black hats won't ping you on the mini map!

Dude, this is for breaking through cover, and XboxAhoy has in my opinion the best classes.
The "Scar" will leave a "lasting" impression.. a lot of scars never fade completely, so it will last forever.
It’s very hard to notice the recoil in med to close range battles because of the low camera recoil.

If you don't like the scar at range you could try select fire. It puts 3 quick shots pretty much on top of one another at a distance. Great vid!

The recoil part is based on his firing it without controlling it, the game footage is him actually using the right analog stick so the recoil doesn't seem as bad.
I love the scar once you have mastered the recoil this thing becomes a death beam

BLEACH LAYF HAX I know that i actually own a SCAR-L and have shot my buddies SCAR-H plenty of times, what i was trying to tell you was, that a company by the name of HANDL defense makes a lower receiver that allows the SCAR-H to accept SR-25 magazines that have a 25 round capacity which where used on the AR-10. Check them out.

This class kind of sucks. I see where he's going with trying to make the most of an assault rifle that can pierce cover as well as any LMG, but I don't think he really stopped to think of whether the scar could be used more effectively than this. There are four must-haves for this weapon: Suppressor, stock, toughness, and scavenger. Your other 5 slots are up to you.
1. Supressor always increases recoil a little, but it removes muzzle flash which helps the SCAR-H a lot since it's muzzle flash can be quite disorienting. Also, since this is a gun that can and should still be put to good use spraying through walls as he recommends in the video, the suppressor keeps you off radar while you do this. Draining a forty-round clip out loud attracts all the enemies around you and that can be problematic if they are using nimbler weapons than you (which is likely). 2. Stock is also good to help you keep your sights up. Having your sights already raised is possibly the only viable approach for repelling close-ranged attackers who try to take advantage of your SCAR's poor hip-fire spread, slower ADS time, and slow rate of fire. Plus, it helps you strafe around while engaging enemies using longer-ranged weapons from afar. The stock makes the SCAR super deadly against all snipers trying to shoot you inside of its considerable range. As for a third attachment, this rifle wants for none. It can benefit from many though if you really like to use primary gunfighter. The iron sights are flawless, so don't waste your slots on an optic. FMJ, extended mags, MMS, and hell even grenade launcher all compliment this weapon wonderfully. 3. I have to recommend scavenger as nigh essential since this is definitely a weapon well suited for long streaks AND scavenger allows you to spray through walls without concern for ammo supply. 4. Toughness. I mean, of course? This is an assault rifle isn't it? If you're not running toughness with the SCAR, then you are either an idiot or you are already so good that you shouldn't have wasted your time reading any of this.
My SCAR-H build:
-Attachments: Foregrip, Laser sight, and *Hybrid scope* (for more precision when it comes to mid-to-long-range gunfights)
-Secondary: SMAW (for destroying turrets and aircraft)
-Perks: Flak Jacket, Fast Hands, and Tactical Mask
-Grenade
-Primary Gunfighter

FMJ and Extended Clip? I used Supressor, Stock, and Fast Mags. First time I used these attachments it really works well on the Scar H. just saying
reloads arent that bad besides it takes 3 shots to kill and you not rushing so fast mag is bad ex clip maybe more ammo more kills supressor and stock is a good way too i see alot of people use it try select fire and suppressor its crazy you hit easy shots and no recoil (2 round burst) and saves alot of ammo
It sounds like you want a different Assault rifle. Xbox Ahoy creates a guide that plays to the weapons strengths. Fast Mags is really only useful for the Submachine Guns such as the Scorpion or the MP7. If you are finding the reload too slow, you're not playing right. The low fire rate and decreased range makes the Suppressor an ill fit for the SCAR H. Stock is good but you sacrifice a point (or two points) to attain that. IMO the M27 would fit your role better. The low recoil makes following shots easy to hit, and if you're accurate with the Stock you can strafe people to death.
Zack Gibbs the scar was buffed so that it was a 3 shot kill at nearly ALL ranges, so the suppressor really is not bad of an option at all. I can see what you mean with the other attachments, however

Stu discussed this in one of his bonus videos. He does know the difference - it's just that that is how Treyarch labeled it, and he's going to call it as such for the sake of not confusing the lesser-minded.
I got bored of cod after MW2 and havent played since, and yet i still watch these once in a while...

My friend has not unlocked the scar yet, but he absolutely loves it. He picked one up off the ground and he got a 20 kill streak with it. I can't wait for when he does unlock it ;)

One of the popular SCAR-H classes that you see a lot is a stealthy mid-range flanking class that takes advantage of the SCAR's phenomenal damage profile by attaching a suppressor.
When putting together this class, did you consider such a class instead of the penetration class? If so, can you give us an insight into your potential Pick-10 loadout?
Target Finder, Grip, and Select Fire makes this ridiculously good.
this gun absolutely tears through everyone in hardcore its a 1 shot kill at any range and to make it a long range gun you can add select fire and the hybrid sights or acog

The foregrip on the scar h actually helps a lot.
Btw I like the scar with laser sight and stock. No need for fast mag cause if you reload cancel (run button) after the clip is in it cuts the time in half.

I have no idea why but games always get the SCAR-H wrong.
The SCAR-H is the HEAVY version of the weapon, which lacks a full-automatic firing mode, whereas the SCAR-L is lighter and has a full-automatic firing mode.

I mean dexterity, C4, and toughness are things I would usually use but I'm trying this class out... XboxAhoy really thinks outside of the box.
In one way I can see what you mean, and I agree many games would be a lot more fair to the new players by adding new mechanics, and by that making the veterans start on the bottom of the learning curve as well as the newbies.
But I also see fit that it would be rewarding to start in the middle of a steep learning curve by having played a lot of similar games to what you`re getting into. I`ll call it the reward of playing a lot of a certain genre.

A lot of agreement. The infinite learning curve exists, but there is always one person that is "best" that no one has beaten. That is of course is only one person, but there is a best.
For every game you continue playing you will slowly climb the infinite learning curve of aim, but I think a game is better if it adds new mechanics so that there is more than aim to being a good player. It would be about thinking of best methods to utilize certain new aspects of the game.

The scar is okay when used in core gamemodes, but it's according to me the best rifle in hardcore. It's the only assault rifle that almost always has a one shot kill and is fully automatic. With an Acog-scope it's the deadliest because you can use it as a sort of BR or a regular rushing weapon
