I would have to take the H-Car, it is based on John Browning’s design and you just can’t go wrong with it. It was carried through WWII, the Korean War, and also used in Vietnam, in some special circumstances, and Ohio ordinance has done a excellent job of bringing it back to life! I want one!

This guy's aim with high-powered rifles is actually amazing, I think I only saw him miss one shot the whole video, and that's including left-handed and one-handed shots
I bought a Ohio ordinance B.A.R. about 15 years ago, it has been a great rifle since day one. Mags are relatively cheap, and available. The rifle is fairly accurate and fun to shoot. Only downside is that it is so heavy I sure can’t shoot it like this guy shoots the HCAR but is still a ball. Plus it is making me good $$$…. Thanks for the fun video!
HCAR any day of the week just for being a newer version of the BAR. I’d never imagine dual wielding these guns, but that was interesting. Keep the crazy videos coming Scott. Entertaining as always
Can we all just take a sec to acknowledge that Scott has some awesome rifles but let's be honest, hearing him laugh like a little kid everytime something explodes is priceless!
Generally speaking, with standard ball ammo there is really no advantage to the '06. However, once you increase the bullet weight beyond 170 grains the '06 has a very clear power advantage.
If I had to pick one, I’d pick the HCAR. Not only for the more powerful 30-06 cartridge but it’s an all American rifle that is based off of the BAR. I wonder if you plan to torture test it in the future. I would understand no because it is a beautiful machine.
As a battle rifle and not considering range the HCAR seems like the clear victor here, did my ears and math decieve me cause it sounded like the HCAR had a 25 round magazine. What i would like to see is a ballistic dummy test between the two and see which one causes more damage per round. If range is a factor the ergonomics of the SCAR seems like it will lend itself to a more comfortable prone stance. However the HCAR with the trigger pull, and recoil reducing features seems like it would be the victor again as the more accurate of the two. From a loadout perspective it seems the SCAR potentially wins this as the platform is lighter, yet when loaded down with say 100 rounds you would need 5 mags on the SCAR to only 4 of the HCAR which means the HCAR while weight is the issue the added benefit of freeing up a pouch could mean better mobility and/or any number of other variations.
Sounds like an unfair advantage but it’s not because the ammo variety of the .06 is a feature that benefits you. If you need the damage a 220 grain 30 cal bullet gives you then it’s simply a feature the Hcar has that the Scar does not. Doesn’t make it an unfair advantage right? Therefore the ballistic gel test needs to be with high, mid, and lowest bullet weights available for each.
.308 and .30-06 ball ammunition are pretty much the same, ballistically; with thirty-ought holding slightly more energy at extreme range. For the weight/capacity savings, .308 is a clear winner. If you want ammo variety or civilian legal AP rounds, .30-06 is the easy choice.
That was cool! Scott answers phone: "Hi, this is Kentucky Ballistics". Voice on other end" Yeah this is so and so with Space X. We've been watching your slo-mo videos and wondered if you would participate in a study to determine whether our next propulsion system should be Nacho cheese, hominy, or Jello. We'd also like for you to help decide whether .308 or 30-06 is the best ignition system." I think you're onto something, Scott!
I got to fire both of these at a range day in Dresden, Maine a few years ago. I own two SCAR-L’s but hadn’t ever fired the H variant or the HCAR. The HCAR was a phenomenal rifle, I expected it to be much heavier than it actually was and it’s accuracy was absolutely out of this world. I’m not a firearms expert and my only real world experience was during my time with the 82nd 1st/504th as an 11B from 04-08, but in my amateur opinion the HCAR is a very well engineered weapon and I would be very confident fielding it in a gunfight.
As for which one I'd pick, I'd go with the H.C.A.R. mainly because it is a modern take on the good ole BAR my great grandfather would've used back in World War 2. I don't have anything against the .308 cartridge, let alone the SCAR 17, but the 30-06 cartridge (in my honest to God opinion) is slowly becoming more of an underrated bullet caliber. That and you have all the modern day modularity to make it work for whatever you want to use it for... just like the AR-15.
@@andrewmartin4387 are you not finding any there? I see PPU & Winch PP & PSP for $28. Or do what I do...and load them yourself. Just got 200 new Sig 30-06 brass delivered last week from Selway...also found on Ammoseek
H.C.A.R, personally like hunting with 30-06 especially if in medium to heavily wooded areas. To me the 30-06 seems to deflect less on small twigs, and leaves in its path continuing to plow forward straight to target better than .308. If doing closer ranged brush hunting, good ol' lever action 30-30 with or w/out scope never lets down haha.
I’d go with the HCAR cause The BAR has been sending freedom seeds down range for over 100 years now and if something has been around that long I’d say it works
Sometimes I think it's impossible for you to outdo your material. It's consistently entertaining on so many levels, every video...but then you do it! Another great video Scott, thanks so much man!
I'd go with the HCAR. I've always preferred 30.06 over .308. Mostly due to my love for the Garand. I'd also go with the HCAR because the BAR is a beast. I've been fortunate enough to shoot an original BAR in full auto and it was so awesome.
You can buy them in the UK with a firearms licence. Though you are limited to either .22LR calibre or single-shot straight pull. Shotgun certificates are easier to get, however. I've taken up archery for the time being. Just bought a mission switch compound bow.
@@automatedinsanity Perhaps they’re more generously disposed toward them because they remember how Germans became all butthurt about them after all of their own headaches in WW1.
I fell in love with the 30-06 round after buying an M1 Garand. There’s a reason why the “greatest battle implement ever devised” was chambered in it. It’s s true one round man stopper
Funnily enough the Garand was originally going to be a smaller caliber. Not sure which, but the army asked for 30-06 and the design was adjusted. They wanted to be able to use all the 30-06 they already had from springfield rifles
I'm gonna have to go with the HCAR, its novelty is just so much better for $4500 - $5000 than the SCAR which is in the same price bracket. A modern BAR is just too good to pass up.
0:37 Dude that intro!!!! I have seen a great many of your videos and that is by far my favorite intro. I really found your channel after seeing the video about the rn50 exploding and how you survived and really enjoy the content because of the actual experiments you perform that showcase modern protective equipment and that they can handle more than they are rated for. I know this is an older video but please keep up the great work.
Also Scott I'm glad you have not stopped the nacho cheese joke never stop, it's part of what makes you the person and entertainer we come to watch. Yeah guns are cool but I could go shoot mayonnaise if I wanted, the end of the day you are an entertainer, a scientist and an educator
I'd have to pick the HCAR because I modernized a Garand some years back and the updates the manufacturer has done to derive the HCAR from the BAR are very similar to my Garand's updates. As to the table, the peas and mayo are a good combo, and I love watermelon, but despite being Native Texan I just never have developed a taste for hominy.
I'd get the SCAR. 30-06 seems a little large for most purposes, especially tactically. You can carry a lot more ammo and still have more than adequate stopping power.
Depends on the range and the game IMO--thinking of going to 7mm remmag myself--but in general I agree... Ofc, there's also a 5.56mm round that is even lighter, and even more appropriate for common uses, as it allows for a tactically advantageous downrange SPEW.
It's hilarious seeing most people believe this being someone who used the SCAR overseas i can tell you it was dogsht, the Armory could never clean them right or at all so they jammed all the time, they're shaped really weird and are pretty bulky, and the gas system always had problems, if the HCAR has even a shred of the BAR's battle reliability it'll be 10 times the weapon the SCAR is on the battlefield
If ammo supply/interoperability is not an issue, going with '06 has a logic in a set-position situation--getting the most out of every round. Otherwise, you're right, 7.62 NATO is tactically superior.
Thanks to your videos, I now have an H.C.A.R. on order! Hopefully won't be as long a wait as the two Thompsons or my cans, but it's still gonna be a long few months to production. Can't spring the +30k for a real BAR, so a modern equivalent it is then...
@Nick Reed Yes, it came in but I admit it sat unfired for a long time. Buyers remorse. But once I got some accouterments like a nice sling and an optic, it started to grow on me. After actually getting some range time...wow! I love this rifle! Recoil on par with an AR, but LOUD! The concussion standing beside it is incredible. And my friends 12 year-old daughter was a hot shot with it. Next, suppressor...
Thanks from a fellow Kentuckian for the high energy, fun and informative gun videos! Much appreciated. Edit: BTW, My woman and I did this Scottish title thing. I'm a Lord and she's a Lady, well she always has been. It's fun and wasn't expensive. Can't wait to hang the title up.
HCAR is deffinitly the coolest one (also that weird action is pretty interesting) but the SCAR can look so hot with a longer barrel, LPVO scope and mlock all over it
That's because that weird action is a BAR. OOW isn't far from me and I remember when they started making the BAR again, even in Semi auto only. The HCAR is a tactical BAR. I'll own a 1918 semi auto eventually. Just can't afford one yet.
I'm loosing lots of sleep watching KB. Only sort of recently discovered Scott's channel, so when I watch one episode there is always another I haven't seen. He never fails to entertain, aside from the weapons Scott makes me laugh out loud. I think that his ability to make viewers feel that they are really part of each video is awesome. Just checked Scott's clothing site and it seems that items can be shipped here to Australia. For definate going to have to order some gear to wear around the town I live in. We're not crazy but lots of gun nuts around. I'm not complaining about our gun laws because it's not that difficult to obtain a licence, just join a club. I don't have a concrete floor/slab to meet the requirements of mounting a gun safe. But just today bought a really nice compound bow from local gunshop. Anyway, long rave, just wanted to say that Scott makes my day ( especially the shitty ones)!
It's crazy that they were able to cure Scott's disease..... "Bullet in the neck itis" lmao 😂😂😂 all joking aside can't believe my man still here with us, My boy scott is a different breed, not even Chuck Norris can take an exploded 50 cal to the neck and survive, let alone getting back on the range as quick as he did.... #Legend
Hey Scott, I agree with you on H.C.A.R. My Grandpa and Dad brought me up using the 30-06. Nothing against the .308, just prefer the 30-06. For the price of both guns, you just get more out of the HCAR. However, not that it really matters, I do like the collapsing stock on your set-up on the SCAR. Great Video!
For me, the Scar. Having handled both rifles, the scar is lighter and I’ve never had malfunction out of it. It has eaten every ammo I’ve fed it from dirty surplus to match. 308 is more plentiful and cheaper than 30.06 where I’m at as well.
The jello jugs were so cool looking in slow mo! And just the variety of canned stuff, interesting to see what those things do to a target. Crazy amount of energy with that HCAR, that rifle is so sick.
This video is a classic example of what makes this channel so great: unapologetic american high caliber fun. Scott while you aren't the most technical, you sir are definitely one of the most fun and entertaining. Anyone who doesn't appreciate duel yielding both a semi auto 308 & 30-06 please remove yourself from this channel. HCAR hands down.
I'll be honest, being a student w/out a part-time job, I don't know if I can spare any extra expense. But my goodness, does Established Titles seem like such a hilarious flex! Edit: The "W A T E R M E L O N T I M E ! ! !" lead-ins are getting better and better with each video!
Thinking of the practical application for the HCAR, I think the name says it all. If you were to be in a fortified position and have your sole mission be to repel enemy attacks, it would be quite viable. You would have range to compete at long distances, better suppression (from a sound perspective), and turn what would be cover against a 5.56 into concealment from the 30-06. You wouldn't want to be mobile with that beast, but in a fortified position, it would be quite viable (maybe even extremely effective).
I know its been quite a while but what you say is still super true. This is probably one of the few firearms that excels in what the name implies. I mean how many guns have cool names that cant do what it says it can do? Like the failed street sweeper shotgun. Cant sweep a street if it jams after 2 shots.
Shoots the cinder block with an HCAR and then rebuilds the block like a kid with his Legos. The only difference between men and boys is the price of our toys.
Hey, I just had an interesting thought about something you can test! How Ridiculous once had a flex seal covered watermelon, that actually took a lot of damage before exploding. You should shoot something like a 700 Nitro at one... Lol
SCAR. As a left handed shooter I really like the reduction in gasses from the ejection port. It seemed from the shots seen in this clip, there was a bit more in the HCAR. Both looked very fun to shoot though.
Scott cmon. You gotta find someone to make you a forced reset (or binary) trigger, like FRT, to make you one for the 1918 BAR, and for the HCAR. You need proper 30-06 full semi automatic!
Man your recovery from the complete unintentional disassembly of your Serbu firearms 50. Cal sniper was insane considering you had multiple life threatening injuries, honestly I’m just glad that your ok bro and I’m also amazed at how quickly you started making videos again I’m not sure if your Wolverine or super-man or maybe a mix between the two🤔, and it’s just as awesome that you can laugh the bad times off because I’ve personally found it helps with dealing with very bad situations I think it’s called “gallows humour”, and I also loved it how you even capitalised on the tragedy in a smart and funny way because in my opinion everyone can relate to a time when they just need to “stick a thumb in it” aka suck it up and just do your best with what you have available to you. I don’t know what we would do without you Scott so glad your looking great almost like nothing ever even happened. Love you Scott, not in that way but you know what I mean😂
Scar didn’t perform well during war time , HCAR went happily through ww2, with the updated hardware Ohio Ordnance should be proud of the product they’ve improved. I know I’d take the 30.06 over .308 , range and hitting power.
Very impressed that you kept your stance so steady on the mag dumps! Both rifles are fantastic and both are on my list of 'If I were American which 10 firearms would I own' list! (As I'm in the UK I just have to admire from a distance instead!) LOL Excellent video, thank you.
If you ever find yourself on this side of the pond, I'm sure that most states that you'd visit would have a range where you could rent one of these or any other firearm that tickled your fancy & shoot them for as long as your wallet will hold out.
Oh I'd absolutely go for the HCAR. Good long range round, bascially a modern BAR and flat out looks like something out of a video game. The SCAR is cool but if I'm gonna go for a more AR platform I'd rather go for like an M110 sort of thing.
It's only underrated to the younger generation of shooters because it's an "old" round and therefore isn't as exciting to them as the much newer 6.5 Creedmoor, .224 Valkyrie, etc. They forget that the reason these "old" cartridges are still around is because they work, and work well.
Be safe, be good, and be free. I welcome all people and cultures who understand the 10 unalienable rights include the right to bear arms and cannot be taken by the government. I welcome you to come to America with hope.
They're both amazing and really fun to shoot!. And the recoil of both aren't as bad as people think for their caliber sizes. But sadly they're both pretty damn expensive in my opinion.
Tbh, the scars are good guns for home or range use but that's it. They suck for military purposes or other abusive scenarios. Same with the FN 5.7. all that plastic is a damn shame for that price. Problem is, who the hell would buy a rifle that expensive to shoot on a range?
I would eat everything off that table for $1,000. But I would rather have the HCAR for doing it. Scott, how do these two stack up as far as build quality goes?
Hi from fife Scotland. Given the choice as much as I like both rifle systems. I would choose a 30.06 as it’s more versatile round. Ohio ordinance rifle does not have a reputation for destroying optics. As a former scar user that was a real and serious problem My son and I love your videos. You never disappoint
Man I was worried that you forgot the eggplant, but came back at the end and nailed it 😂.... I'd pick the HCAR, love the 30-06 caliber and would be an overall nice rifle to have. And the action of the rifle in between shots seemed smoother to me
Hmmm 🤔…. Essentially they are the same with very small differences .. I would go with the SCAR simply because it is a little lighter, a little shorter, combat ready, modular and, I can shoot 7.62 ammo also… the short stroke piston is quicker too.
Ever since Scott’s first video I’ve been obsessing over the HCAR, I could get it now but man would it break the bank 😭 I’m seriously gonna have to get one soon, I have a feeling there gonna stop making them and the price and rarity will be beyond my reach.
HCAR is Amazing. SCAR is also amazing. Only $1000 separates the 2. I'd like to see a ranged test of the 2. The tighter shot grouping would maybe make the decision for me. I will say though that HCAR is friggin awesome. I love the BAR and to modernize it, increase it's capacity, and lower it's weight... sounds near perfect
If cost and availability weren't a problem I would pick the HCAR. But I'll go with the SCAR since the ballistics are similar enough to not really make a huge difference for my capability.
Thank you for producing quality HCAR content. FPS Russia and Larry Vickers are the only ones to have made some decent content, too bad about FPS Russia. I have been looking for this rifle for 6 years and was finally able to order one. Keep it coming with the HCAR
When it comes to .308 battle rifles, nothing beats the Roller-Locking Delayed Blowback though : )| It's just a shame that the stock G3/PTR/CETME all have punishing recoil (for the caliber) and stock designs. Straight buffer-tube stock and elevated sights make such a difference.
You want something punishing, try a Mosin Nagant M91/30 with a barrel cut down to 16 1/4", and no muzzle brake. I kid you not, this beast is similar to shooting a 12ga with 3" shells. It also bent my target, a 4" AR500 3/8" plate.
@@bullriderinwrangler1 that's also 54r and is just a little beefier of a cartridge. But, it's also comparable to those. 308 "pistols" with nine inch barrels
@@KiithnarasAshaa There is no .308 "pistol" that I would compare this monster to, lol. It seriously is like no other Mosin that I've shot before, and there have been probably a dozen before this one, yet I love them all.
It's been kind of long since you had two guns worth envying you for but with those two you done it, personally I love both of the rifles but I was routing for the HCAR and if I was punished to pick one I would go with the H just for it's looks but like I said love em both and yeah this was fun
You know, I totally would scoop up the stuff on the table and eat it for a grand. You'd need a chronograph to clock the speed of the projectile vomit afterwards, but a thousand bucks is a thousand bucks.
The performance of the .30-06 is only very slightly higher than the .308, and there aren't a whole lot of applications where it'd really be an advantage. .308 Winchester is just much more available. While the HCAR seems cool, I just think the SCAR is, I guess you could say, sufficiently more practical than the HCAR so as to overcome what little advantage the HCAR may have.
If someone gave me a scar, I would sell it and buy literally any other battle rifle. SCARs are garbage and people only revere them because of movies and call of duty.
@@Leonarco333 people respect them because navy seals and rangers still use them. It doesn’t get dirty at all when you shoot it because of the piston system. Whether you want to admit it or not the scar is an iconic and amazing rifle and only poors who can’t afford it say otherwise

Generally speaking, with standard ball ammo there is really no advantage to the '06. However, once you increase the bullet weight beyond 170 grains the '06 has a very clear power advantage.
Agreed.

I don't care how american it is or isn't, but the rest I sure agree with!
The FN Mag (M249) is literally the BAR's action turned upside down. It's a reliable system
He may have loaded only 25 but the HCar does come with 30 rd magazines unless you live somewhere with a capacity law.
I think I heard one of the guntubers say that you can only have 25 rounds max for youtube vids, or it's banhammer time.
@@skazzwag8 I think so or they at the very least demonetize the video. There is exceptions but notbaware what they are
That was cool!
Having previously owned both a SCAR 17S and SCAR 16S - I would pick the HCAR in a heartbeat.
Agreed.
Well, ya know, Browning.
Don't sell your time in the All American short. Much respect from this Cav vet.
Good luck finding 30-06. I can't seem to find it anywhere

@@ShastaBean why you got to break my heart like that?
Couldn’t say it any better myself
Sometimes I think it's impossible for you to outdo your material. It's consistently entertaining on so many levels, every video...but then you do it! Another great video Scott, thanks so much man!
I'd go with the HCAR. I've always preferred 30.06 over .308. Mostly due to my love for the Garand. I'd also go with the HCAR because the BAR is a beast. I've been fortunate enough to shoot an original BAR in full auto and it was so awesome.
getting either of them into the UK would prove a touch problematic, however, your footage Scott, is teaching me just in case...
You can buy them in the UK with a firearms licence. Though you are limited to either .22LR calibre or single-shot straight pull. Shotgun certificates are easier to get, however.
I've taken up archery for the time being. Just bought a mission switch compound bow.
@@mrglasses8953 funny how you can get a shotgun, a more destructive weapon, but it’s impossible to get a simple 22lr
HCAR all the way, as perhaps it opens the door for all of the 30-06 variations in semi auto (35 Whelen etc)
I'm gonna have to go with the HCAR, its novelty is just so much better for $4500 - $5000 than the SCAR which is in the same price bracket.
A modern BAR is just too good to pass up.
Scar is 3-3500
0:37 Dude that intro!!!! I have seen a great many of your videos and that is by far my favorite intro. I really found your channel after seeing the video about the rn50 exploding and how you survived and really enjoy the content because of the actual experiments you perform that showcase modern protective equipment and that they can handle more than they are rated for. Okay, that phone call from mom couldn't have been more perfect. I'm gonna be laughing at that one for a good while now Scott. 😂😂👍
Sometime you and Matt should do another video together. It's always awesome when you guys do! Awesome video today.
H.C.A.R. would get my vote just because it is more unique. 30-06 in a platform like that makes me smile.
Can never b too large. I mean, if u r hunting mice. Maybe don't use the HCAR
What about fun?
@@brianblose right get a 50 cal those mice are wily
Depends on the range and the game IMO--thinking of going to 7mm remmag myself--but in general I agree... Ofc, there's also a 5.56mm round that is even lighter, and even more appropriate for common uses, as it allows for a tactically advantageous downrange SPEW.
Yes, but the HCAR is a much better mayonnaise gun
While I think the SCAR is likely more effective especially in a tactical environment, I'd still go for the HCAR for the simple reason of 30-06
30-06 impresses me because it was designed for 1,000 yard kills and works very well.
@@0326Vet Didn't you do your own 10-level cleaning?
If ammo supply/interoperability is not an issue, going with '06 has a logic in a set-position situation--getting the most out of every round. Otherwise, you're right, 7.62 NATO is tactically superior.

@Nick Reed Yes, it came in but I admit it sat unfired for a long time. Buyers remorse. But once I got some accouterments like a nice sling and an optic, it started to grow on me.

Hey Scott,
I agree with you on H.C.A.R.
Sounds reasonable
I hear way too many stories of SF dudes ditching the scar. id pass.
I honestly would have to shoot them first, but probably couldn't go wrong with either, both are best guns, great vid
Make sure to ask for mineral rights! Haha
Lol
Id go 100% for the HCAR. Thats the first gun that has just gotten the kid in me excited in quite a while.
That’s a tough choice. I love the SCAR. I’d go with that because.308 also will work in my AR10
SCAR. As a left handed shooter I really like the reduction in gasses from the ejection port. It seemed from the shots seen in this clip, there was a bit more in the HCAR. Both looked very fun to shoot though.
Great video as always Those round are so powerful! Just got my first 308 and can’t wait to get out and shoot.
Love them both, but that HCAR looked awesome. Also that barrel and the muzzle break it had looked really good.
H.C.A.R
Bigger is betterer
Also, the recoil impulse *seems* the same or better than the .308.
Scar didn’t perform well during war time , HCAR went happily through ww2, with the updated hardware Ohio Ordnance should be proud of the product they’ve improved.
I know I’d take the 30.06 over .308 , range and hitting power.
r u talking about a video game???
Hands down the HCAR. 30-06 is a hell of a round and I just like the overall look of the HCAR more.
The 30-06 is such an underrated round. Thing is devastating.

Underrated? We only won WWII With 30-06
I'am guessing that over 10million moose have been killed by 30-06... 🤔
It's only underrated to the younger generation of shooters because it's an "old" round and therefore isn't as exciting to them as the much newer 6.5 Creedmoor, .224 Valkyrie, etc. They forget that the reason these "old" cartridges are still around is because they work, and work well.

The 30.06 round is so insanely powerful! Absolutely my fav. round. All that for 1000$? HECK NO! 10.000$? I´ll think about it
I'd eat it for an HCAR
Considering that I live in NZ, id try and stomach it for 1000 USD
I would eat everything off that table for $1,000. But I would rather have the HCAR for doing it. Scott, how do these two stack up as far as build quality goes?
Hi from fife Scotland. Given the choice as much as I like both rifle systems. I would choose a 30.06 as it’s more versatile round. Ohio ordinance rifle does not have a reputation for destroying optics. As a former scar user that was a real and serious problem My son and I love your videos. You never disappoint
both clearly competent rifles. My roommate already has a SCAR so I am very seriously thinking about picking up an HCAR
personally i would prefer the scar just because it is nearly 4 pounds lighter than the hcar, that thing looks heavy as a beast
great video !
The HCAR is the rifle I'd like to own for personal use, the SCAR is the rifle I'd actually want to go into combat with
Imagine an HCAR as a designated marksman rifle
Ever since Scott’s first video I’ve been obsessing over the HCAR, I could get it now but man would it break the bank 😭
I’m seriously gonna have to get one soon, I have a feeling there gonna stop making them and the price and rarity will be beyond my reach.
Honestly, if you want this rifle you’ll save up for it because how could you not???? I am slowly but surely
I'm extremely happy to see the destroyed mayonnaise flying in all directions, I really don't like mayonnaise
I love (quality) mayonnaise

When it comes to .308 battle rifles, nothing beats the Roller-Locking Delayed Blowback though : )|
It's just a shame that the stock G3/PTR/CETME all have punishing recoil (for the caliber) and stock designs. Straight buffer-tube stock and elevated sights make such a difference.
When it comes to .308 battle rifles, nothing beats the L1A1 SLR
You want something punishing, try a Mosin Nagant M91/30 with a barrel cut down to 16 1/4", and no muzzle brake. I kid you not, this beast is similar to shooting a 12ga with 3" shells. It also bent my target, a 4" AR500 3/8" plate.
