This time, we're covering the DSR 50.
Black Ops 2 marks the weapon's debut in the Call of Duty series, and it serves as the high-damage, bolt action option for those seeking the maximum possible one-shot lethality.
The DSR-50 is a German rifle, designed and manufactured by DSR Precision.
It is a higher-calibre variant of the DSR-1 design, built around the powerful .50 BMG anti-materiel cartridge.
Like the DSR-1, the .50 calibre variant is a bolt-action rifle in a bullpup configuration, with its magazine behind the trigger for a shorter overall length.
A forward magazine holder in front of the trigger holds a second mag for faster reloads - a useful trait, given the paltry 3 round capacity of the standard box magazines.
To combat the sizeable recoil of the fifty calibre round, hydraulic recoil buffers and a specially designed 'blast compensator' are incorporated into the rifle design.
The latter component is part sound suppressor, part muzzle brake: mitigating noise output, visual flash and felt recoil.
In-game, the DSR 50 boasts impressive damage: no other bullet-based weapon can trump this rifle's one-shot potential.
A shot anywhere above the waist - whether to the arms, stomach, chest, neck or head - will kill outright.
When suppressed, this damage will be diminished somewhat: only killing in one shot to the head, neck and chest.
This damage is unaffected by the distance from your target: the DSR is entirely capable of efficiently eliminating enemies at extreme ranges.
As a bolt-action weapon, the potential rate of fire is very low: the bolt needs to be cycled manually between every single shot.
This equates to a maximum effective fire rate of around 50 rounds per minute: this slow rate means you're more reliant on accuracy, to better put the high damage of this weapon to use.
Hipfire performance is very poor - divergence is significantly worse than even the other sniper rifles.
While a successfully connected shot will often kill, hipfiring should be saved for the direst of emergencies: relying on a secondary weapon is a far more sensible move in closer quarters.
Recoil is high, but will always settle between shots: while this might make tracking a moving enemy for follow-up shots challenging, the DSR's kick is seldom a factor in shot accuracy.
Aim time is slow, at 420 milliseconds - reinforcing the weapon's intended role as a long-range area denial weapon, instead of anything more aggressive.
Magazine capacity is low, at just 5 rounds: although few weapons can lay claim to 5 reliable kills between reloads, so the capacity issue isn't critical.
Reloads are relatively slow, but when performed in a safe place are not too inconvenient: a spare 3.29 seconds is usually easy enough to find.
The DSR-50 is a weapon of unmatched potency, able to instantly snuff opponents at any distance with a degree of reliability unseen in the other sniper rifles.
A successfully connected shot to the centre mass of your enemy will yield little surprise in terms of lethality - whereas the lower-damage sniper rifles might only wound, giving your quarry the chance of escape.
This reliable performance is paid for with all-round slow handling, however - the bolt-action mandating careful shots, the slower aim time requiring that you fire from prepared position.
Few weapons will prove as ineffective at a close range: in a fast-paced gunfight, you'll have just one chance to land an unaimed shot before any savvy opponent will get the better of you - and the DSR has the worst hipfire performance of any weapon.
Still, that's where your secondary comes into play - and while the DSR might not be particularly versatile, few weapons come close to competing with this sniper rifle's ranged potential.
This German weapon is a true marksman's rifle, ideal for lone wolf snipers seeking reliable lethality. If your aim is true, you'll find one shot kills with the DSR...

What's the point in complaining about his hardscoping? He did it in the video over 1 year ago and there's nothing you can do to change it, and complaining is simply wasting your time, since once he does it he can't change it.

Same, I choose to hardscope or quickscope whenever I feel like, and no one can do anything about it, if I want to hardscope camp, then I do it. If I want to quickscope, (Or fail at it, which happens alot) then I do it.
I think in BO2 hard scoping is harder than quick scoping because of aim assist (not really being serious, but aim assist op)
Besides, "hardscoping" is what sniping actually is.

I like how the bolt actions and semi autos in blops 2 actually have distinct advantages and disadvantages. In the past the Barrett ALWAYS beat bolt actions in every aspect, despite how much quickscopers liked the intervention
It's a shame almost nobody uses BO2 sniper rifles for actual sniping. It's usually just a bunch of people running around quickscoping. The aim time should be doubled and/or your movement speed while holding it should be really low.

Dude there's a couple times where I ADS and fire, missing my shot. I prefer using the DSR as a regular rifle. I don't need you "pros" telling me how to use my guns. Why don't you force me to spray and pray with my type 25! People these days, so demanding.😥
We don't hardscope even though its how your suppose to use a sniper so we get bored of doing the same old thing and make using snipers more fun by qs & ts, we do this because we enjoy it better then boringly using how a sniper is meant to be used.

I can say with complete confidence that there has never been a gun in any CoD game that is as satisfying to use as this one. The sound it makes is fucking amazing.
I enjoy XboxAhoy's videos more than Drift0r's because Ahoy's videos are way more organized. The thumbnail is nice & sleek. The transitions are smooth, the music is exciting but low enough to be able to hear Ahoy's amazing voice. Organized information & some well-done images to go with it. Just brilliant.

The DSR-1 is chambered in .338 lapua magnum by DSR precision. DSR stands for Designated Sniper Rifle based by it accuracy,damage,distance of how far your target is and the rate of the damage the weapon gives put doesn’t support hip fire shots and aim is slow because the weapon is heavy but isn’t just used in Germany it’s used in Denmark and other countries for snipers

I would go with the PDW-57 because it has the largest ammo capacity in its class and makes it easier to defend myself from multiple enemies. Also I very rarely hip-fire, even in close quarters situations.

I consider quickscoping and noscoping as tools in my arsenal. Enemy suprised me? Noscope. another one is 10m away? I quickscope. No enemies are near me? I hardscope and look for my poor victims. Hear someone aproaching me? I grab whatever secondary I have and prepare to open fire.
I've used to be good with the DSR 50. but after I got halfway done with the bloodthirsty camo and unlocking gold afterwards,I started missing a bunch.
However,now I'm pretty good with the Ballista or any other sniper rifle. Anyone else having this problem?

Jim Bob I,for one,got past it by luck. However,your tip WAS indeed the thing that helped me alot. I used to scope in,kill after 2 seconds,than scope out. Staying scoped helped me a whole bunch. I'm tellin ya,there is so much stuff you miss to see while ADSing in and out...
Maybe because the DSR got nerfed in a patch, reducing its Firing Rate from 50 bullets per minute to 40.
Finally a youtuber that uses the snipers correctly and even giving the tip to avoid that on any sniper. If you prefer CQB to LRB then use a shotgun.

Just use a Kap-40 instead of an SMG.
An SMG has better range and accuracy than the KAP-40, which means you can use it as a "normal" class, then when all nearby enemies are dead, deal with the far away ones with the sniper. BTW, you look a little young to be playing an M game.

DSR-50 is one of my favourite weapons in zombies. When Pack-A-Punch it has a one shoot kill up to round 34 providing you have Double Tap 2.0

With the Ballista you'll need to make sure you have 2 shock charges, tactical mask, flak jacket, fast hands, uav, counter uav, ballistic CPU attachment, fast mag, primary gunfighter, and laser sight. I have my snipers in diamond on my second prestige if your wondering if I know what I'm talking about. The strategy to use is find a building, set your shock charges, and make sure that you do not kill them with anything but your Ballista sniper and you will have it in gold in no time. Good Luck! :)

When I play with the DSR-50 I give it the ballistic cpu and the FMJ, my secondary will be the Remington shotgun with the long barrel, I hold the bouncing betty and the the tactical insertion as equipment

I started as a run and stabber. I'm now running and gunning with the DSR. First I use the CPU Ballistics. Then I use the Variable Zoom scope.You get a better peripheral vision, and the option to scope in. Hold your breath when you see the target.
I like using a shotgun as my secondary. I use the Remington because it has good range, but not a slug shotgun like the KSG
I find this weapon to do very well with Cold-blooded, suppressor/ballistic CPU and a high vantage point over objectives. Though not as versatile as Stu's build, it greatly upholds the enemies unawareness of your should-be-inconspicuous location.
This thing demands respect with its firing sound.
These are some good quality content, especially for the time. Watching these bring back nostalgia, wish i knew about this channel back then.

If i use DS3 just to quickscope and have fun (because if someone is on the same place for 10 seconds, is called a camper for some reason), i would choose a fast mag instead of variable zoom, a b23r as a secondary, for perks: lightweight, fast hand and Extreme conditioning, and a very cool camo

To the arguing however, "HardScoping" is how you're supposed to use a sniper rifle. Quickscoping is trend that just ended up being a major problem with the CoD series. Just as I use a sniper how it was made, I get spammed and cursed for doing what a Sniper is supposed to be used for.
CoD = Snipers are Run & Gun while Assault Rifles are perched in corners and windows waiting.
He doesn't suck, he's using a more traditional method of sniping instead of the super-aggressive quickscoping that everyone seems obsessed with.
Whenever I snipe I mix it up between quick scoping and hard scoping but personally I always choose the DSR as my quickscoping sniper of choice for the same reasons I use the L115 in Ghosts. I care about downing the enemy in one bullet. The Ballista in this game is statistically a far superior quick scoping sniper but it gets random hitmarkers and the draw time is a little fast for a standard quickscope. Whenever I got "Quickscoped" by a Ballista it always had the scope up for a second or so and was clearly tracking me whereas when I quickscope with the DSR the draw time allows me to perform a legitimate quickscope and 9/10 times a one shot kill.

My suggestion is to replace Perk 1 and perk 3: XA is talking about basically camping with the DSR. What better way than to keep the enemy guessing where your next shot's coming from. Lightweight will help you get to a new sniping position which you want to keep moving after clearing your sight lines or Ghost would keep you invisible to UAVs while on the move.
Extreme conditioning will help you move to the next area quicker
Or, if you don't rely on explosives nor an attachment for your secondary, Perk 2 Greed and Cold Blooded will help keep you from showing up on pesky enemy snipers Dual-Band scopes, allowing you precious seconds to keep your element of surprise.
Enemies may not know what your doing so when using your SMG (I recommend the Scorp EVO), change positions quickly to throw their aim.
I think such a class is more reserved to the XPR50 and Ballista, due to their higher magazine capacity and faster handling traits. You got a point in changing your positions, I used to do it all the time when I used the Intervention or Barrett in MW2. But the 5 shots you'll get from the DSR's mag and the slow rate of fire, mean you're at a disadvantage if you get caught running with your sniper out.

Back when I played against bots (and my brother), I used Bouncing Betties and Shock Charges instead of a claymore.

How awesome would it have been if for "Fast mags" instead of just getting rid of the magazine faster, it would have been 10x cooler had Treyarch incorporated the spare magazine holder in the front into the animation. They missed out.

I would swap the claymore and laser to add the toughness perk, because it is essential for slow RPM guns that need the precision.
I personally used FMJ and dual-band scope, made it incredibly easy to kill anyone in my sights save those behind the most solid cover. But it's the latter that turns the DSR from a stupidly power sniper rifle to a dual-band bodyslam

Hardscoping is actually the (intended) way to play sniper. you put a claymore on the entrance, and camp on that spot. but you are very vulnerable with the bouncing betty.

Enough with argument between hardscopes and quickscopes, both guarantee kills hence both are good and sound. The only thing hardscope doesn't work well is the ability of counter camping, as tdm lobbies with worm players + target finder is fairly common in bo2. Other than that, hardscope is bo2 is good especially in terms of guarding objectives
To pick up random weapons faster, put down the tactical insertion faster, and to throw back random nades. u'd be surprised how often i throw back nades lol.
