    What u call "over egging things" is Baikal using the exact same parts from a Makarov, the reason theirs no blowback is because Co2 is not strong enough to move the heavy real slide and the equally real recoil spring, the most realistic bb gun youll ever see

    • @frankyg2384
      @frankyg2384 5 месяцев назад

      Technically there is no blowback mechanism in the pistol so it would never have blowback, but if it did then yes there wouldn’t be enough power to cycle the slide.

    I bought mine in the year 2000. Still got it, needed a few seals in the magazine/valve system over that time but otherwise it's as solidly made as the real deal - Because it is a real Makarov just with a couple of bits converted for CO2. Whilst the sights are non-adjustable, they are like on the real Mak, able to be drifted left or right with a punch, which I did fairly easily as mine was shooting a good few inches left when I received it. Elevation is spot on at 10 yards. Makarov rear sights can be found in different heights to adjust the elevation if necessary. They are numbered for the different heights. Mine has a No.5 on it. Overall a pretty nice airgun. I have a few different Russian made holsters for it too.

    • @weberismail1076
      @weberismail1076 Год назад +1

      Only the first few batches are converted from real Makarovs, the later versions are brand-new lines, eliminated some features but still using close/same materials. However, the 2019/2020 version even changed to a soft recoil spring. B4 that version, still a good training tool. The strong spring and slide help you better to transit to the real steel.

    • @Stigstigster
      @Stigstigster Год назад

      @@weberismail1076 Mine has the heavy spring. It's firmly in the 2nd generation group of this series of pistols. *you are right though, the slides are made slightly differently as you look through the generations I have since learned.

    • @geoffg46
      @geoffg46 6 месяцев назад

      Rear sights are adjustable as are the real Makarov , they can be drifted from side to side for windage by tapping with a punch and hammer. The rear sight is replaced with either a taller or lower sight, which is why they are numbered, but I guess you'll have to go to a Russian Stockist for the sights.( I have a lower sight in my spares box)

    I'm surprised about this review, it's just a regular Makarov, modified for airsoft. If you ever shot a real Makarov pistol, the trigger pull is close. Many components are the same as the original gun, including the spring and trigger mechanism, safety, hammer, disassembly lever, you can even get the damn firing pin and put it in your real gun. If you look for something as close to the original as possible, this one surely is it. It's a very interesting gun that shows the difference in engineering approaches between Russian and western gunsmiths. Cheers

      I’d be interested to know if these Baikal Maks can accept deact magazines with a few inert rounds inside, like the “Yunkers” Ak’s used to? Would make brilliant display pieces if they did... Rusmilitary website offers a package with a deact mag and a couple of 9x18 inerts but I’m unsure if that’s just intended to go alongside for some photo action. Can anyone confirm this for me? Would be much appreciated.

I definitely had an inferiority complex and wanted a Glock like everyone else, but that little Russian gun never failed me, extremely reliable!

    I understand that the review is a couple of years old, but the co2 version is just the same as the proper 9,2 mm as they are. It's been designed as a concealed carry sidearm to be fired at a maximum of 15 yards. It does the job, the bullet will drop whatever it hits but the gun itself is a relic of the old days when the Russians used to make everything to last a lifetime no matter what you put it through. I've fired a tokarev pistol on the range and my main gun was an AKMS59 when I was in forces back home and they are all the same. You can cut your hands on them just by handling one, but they will work through flood, fire, earthquake and probably a nuclear warfare too. They are not very accurate, but with the amount you can fire out of one without feeld stripping it they do the job

    Got an early model of this pistol in the Noughties. Came in a plastic gun case, spare seals, cleaning rod and patches, rusty gold coloured BBs, cleaning cloth, and wrapped in oily paper. About 60 GBP at the time, which was sale priced below the usual retail. It has a very large wraparound black plastic grip, nothing like the red star grips illustrated in your video, and a lanyard ring style fitting to pierce the gas bottle. Won't fit a Makarov holster because of this big grip. Still going strong to this day, slide spring is no weaker than when new ! When packed at factory, one stray BB rusted to the slide, requiring filing clean and refinishing, otherwise, problem free. Really feels like a "proper" pistol......legend had that it was made using real Makarov components, interchangeable with the firearm version. Lots of harmless fun, anyway.

    I have one of these but it’s the double stack version, all black (Well they call it blue’d) ... Looks the nuts!!! The only problem I have with mine is the safety becomes loose and will not engage, so I have to put some super glue around it, re-insert it and go from there. I have a 2016 model I think as my SN begins with T160 .. VERY realistic feel to it, shame it can’t have blowback though .. I think the recoil spring is the same one that is used in the real steel version .. So if you like playing with the slide like I do then you’ll love this gun!!

      Out of the blue I got an email from a Canadian replica air pistol online store letting me know they had the Gletcher TT-NBB in stock, and the TT-P, and I ordered the TT-NBB, and I must have got the last one because they are 'out of stock' once again.

    Well, I was almost convinced to love it, at first. I've seen various Makarov replicas over the past couple of years, so I guess I was expecting this one to be extra special as it came right from the factory. But the deal breaker was that it is not a blowback. I could've put up with the stiffer slide and trigger.
    But on the positive side, it is the first camo replica pistol that actually sparked some attention in me. Also, I'm not really into the nickel/chrome models either, but IF I were to ever acquire one of these, it would be the nickel one. (Your comment about how the camo felt raised the nickel version into first place).
    A Makarov is far down on any desire list of mine, neither making it onto my 'GOTTA GET LIST' nor my 'DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME LIST'.
    The 3 Russian replicas I currently own are all Gletchers & BB. M1895 pistol; M1944 carbine; M1891 Obrez.

      It's the fixed rifled barrel. Whilst it can't get a good grip on the steel ball, it does still spin them to some extent as in my year 2000 model at least, a 4.3mm steel ball is about as perfect a fit down the rifling as you could get. 4.3mm lead balls, if you can find them, do properly engage the rifling and it's a little more accurate than the already acceptable steel ammo.

    It defies logic to have a nice sliding upper like that and not make it blowback, particularly if they’re going all out for realism. However looking at it when disassembled, there is no bottom slide per se. Maybe one for the collection but as 2019 has been slow thus far for new pistols I may wait and see what the rest of 2019 brings before purchasing. I may have missed it but did you state the cost? Another great video Andy.

    And let me add that anyone in the U.S. who owns one of these is very lucky indeed. Thanks to the new customs laws enacted by the Trump administration it's almost impossible to have these pieces imported. Most European dealers will no longer attempt to ship to the U.S. because there is a 90 percent chance it will be seized regardless of state, legal or not. I'm lucky enough to own 7 with 2 being of Generation 1.

    I assume we can't get these anymore because the Russian army have requisitioned them all for their new recruits.

    This gun, made from original firearms Makarov, and multitool also original. It's good, because, I don't want to buy aluminium + plastic CO2 guns. Aluminium + plastic is 1 summer only - lost the money, only.

    I think these are these being sold to civilians are the same weapons used to train police. We obviously could not use live rounds in recreating shooting incidents for training purposes. But I remember at the time they felt like the real ones I had already used. Also they REALLY HURT. I was hit on the side of the face and ended with a big black eye. Another made me think it broke a rib but nothing showed on the x-ray. Perhaps these are not as high pressured but still built the same way.

    Andy,
    Writing from the U.S.
    How can I get one of these Russian made Makarovs back to the U.S.? I am flying to England in April.
    Should I...….. A) Speak to airport/airline authorities and plead for assistance and understanding?
    B) Ask Drapers of Nottingham to mail the pistol to my U.S. address?
    Thanks Andy for your wonderful videos.

      The baikal Makarov pistols are plentiful in Canada. replicaairguns sells them, and other online surplus stores and airgun sellers.

    I would love to own this gun! Particularly in that it is not blowback. That waste of air just isn't Russian! I hope I can find one. A simplified Walther.
