XPeng X9 Driven - The Best Electric MPV On The Market

  • The best electric MPV on the market is not the most expensive. It's the XPeng X9.
    Electric MPVs are all the rage in China these days and the last two years have seen a slew of fascinating and daring designs hit the market. The Li MEGA, Zeekr 009, Denza D9, Voyah Dreamer, and others have all entered the space, and some of those you can see on our channel, but the one that has impressed us most is the XPeng X9.
    Daring styling, autonomous driving smarts, rear-wheel steering, zero-gravity captain's chairs, trick folding third-row seats, the XPeng X9 has it all.

    That folding third row is certainly a great feature which makes the X9 significantly more versatile than any 3 row crossover, although I don't know why they designed it in a way where only the seat back is split 60:40. All the minivans in the US market feature this very useful folding 3rd row, which also disappears into the deep cargo hold to make a flat load floor, however they fold with a different hinge, and you can choose to fold only part of the seat into the cargo hold. This makes it far more useful because you can create a partial flat load floor but still allow 1 or 2 people to sit in the third row depending on if you folded the 40 side or 60 side. You can also remove the 2nd row seats altogether in the US market Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna to create a truly massive flat loading floor if you really need to haul cargo.
    If the lower and mid trim X9 had a split folding third row and a removable 2nd row like the US market minivans, it would truly be the perfect MPV for the family, especially since it will have superior tech and driving dynamics, and massively improved maneuverability due to the rear wheel steering and air suspension.

    • @InsideChinaAuto
      @InsideChinaAuto  3 месяца назад +1

      I agree, being able to fold half into the floor would be cool, as would having seats you can remove. I think for Europe and the States, it might be a nice idea to remove the captain's chairs and have removable seats. We had a Renault Scenic back in 1997 and you could remove all the 3 back seats one by one (it was only a 2-row car), put them back in as a 4-seater, flip the middle one up to have an armrest and cupholders, store stuff under them, under the floor, all kinds. It was awesome.

    • @hanmi1216
      @hanmi1216 3 месяца назад

      @@InsideChinaAutoafaik the regulations in China not allowing you to remove seat. So, if your documents said you are 7 seater, you can't remove 1 or 2 seats. So, maybe for the export version they can make a removable seat.

    • @InsideChinaAuto
      @InsideChinaAuto  3 месяца назад

      @hanmi1216 Ah, that's interesting, I'd never heard of that. Makes sense. Though I see plenty of the little Wuling and Chana vans with their rear benches removed, but they're just bolts. Moving a whole captain's chair would be much more difficult and tiresome

    • @networm78
      @networm78 3 месяца назад

      @@InsideChinaAuto I wonder what happens if you pulled only one of the buttons for 3 seconds. Would it only fold one of the seats. I've never seen anyone did that before, but it would make sense to me. But I do know that you can fold the backseats seats forward.

    • @InsideChinaAuto
      @InsideChinaAuto  3 месяца назад
