Still one of the greatest shows of all time more than 20 years later.
yea but how many of us wish we could have never ever seen it, and so many others like only fools and horses etc and imagine starting them from the beginning for the first time again! I mean I laugh so much still but the first time, on many shows I could hardly breathe through laughing so much. However despite that yep, still so funny and one of the greatest shows so many years later man

@@AR-dn6khYeah but it appeals to the American audience somehow... Ricky is a grown man who is extremely awkward but Steve Carrell who is a fantastic actor btw just acts like a man child... I mean jumping around the office shouting parkour parkour is embarrassing and nothing a grown man would do no matter how simple they were 😂 The UK office is much better and there is no comparison in my opinion
Nothing in the United States is realistic. Our "culture" is simply a very bad joke, and it's inexcusable how much of it has been foisted upon the world. It's certainly not something to be proud of.
@@four-twenty4205 And Steve Carrell's character is somewhat likeable and at times even sweet. Brent is thoroughly contemptible, at least till the end of the Christmas Special.
Yeah. US version was enjoyable in a totally different way (for the first few seasons anyway!). Never came close to touching this masterpiece though. Different shows.

Often see Ricky walking around Hampstead. Recently went to the location where this was filmed but didn’t realise it was turned into flats quite a while ago. This series never gets old 👏🏻

I get the impression that before the cameras went into the office he was half decent at the job. The show in my opinion is an early example of what reality television did to people

Had no idea that Swindon is an hour and a half from Slough 😂 So those 'lucky' ones to keep their jobs will either need to uproot their families to move there, commute over 3 hours a day, or decline the mind and end up unemployed anyway. 😭

You have to rewatch every episode to spot subtle jokes. For example when Brent says “with women” at 2:50 he grabs both hands leaving the viewer to picture what he’s thinking right there. Sublime stuff.

What I love about this show is that he sacrificed his career to help his office and in return they stabbed him in the back and still had no respect for him. This is for real. Always take care of yourself first

An area manager for Calor gas that lived in dibden hythe near Southhampton modelled him self on David Brent , or was it the other way round !!!!
The talking clock was made redundant.
What gets me is if I worked for a shitty paper company in an office and I either had to be made redundant or relocate 60 odd miles away. Id just take the redundancy and look for another job. Surely there’s loads more office jobs in slough and probably offer a better salary than Wernham hogg 😂😂

Because Ricky is a huge fan of Oliver Hardy.
Because it’s a fly on the wall documentary. And they haven’t quite got used to the crew being there. It’s a mockumentary. You know like spinal tap and that Peter Kay thing

Plenty of them did! Lots didn't get it, or didn't have the patience. Same as in the UK, to this day. Everyone I currently work with thinks it was shit, but they never actually watched it.
Look Limey, we find the bits where they don't mumble to be hilarious. The remaining 90% of the time we can't understand a word they say. It's not your accent, it's the way you turn a sentence into a single low-volume word and the closed caption doesn't even try to decrypt it for us.
